A Double Dose of Crazy Talk

If there is anything positive to be derived from the chaotic health care debate it’s the often amusing and ridiculous things Republicans have been saying in their desperate and pathetic attempt to derail the bill.  The latest is from Georgia Rep. Paul Brown.

“If Obamacare passes, that free insurance card that’s in people’s pockets is going to be as worthless as a Confederate dollar after the War Between the States — the Great War of Yankee Aggression.”

What?  Forget the “worthless as…” part of the statement.  That sort of rhetoric is expected from obstructionist Republicans.  What is more astonishing is that a Congressman would refer to the Civil War as “the Great War of Yankee Aggression.”

Glenn Church’s take on it…

“Broun needs to check his history books. It was the southern states that seceded. The first shots of the Civil War were also fired by South Carolina volunteers on the federally held Ft. Sumter.”

“As a Congressman, this neo-confederate has sworn to protect the Constitution, but he criticizes as aggression the federal government’s attempts to protect it during the Civil War.”

Have I already mentioned that wingnuttery is just too funny…and dumb?
