Republican Party – In Search Of Itself

For anyone who has paid attention for the last 8 years and were repulsed by the display of arrogance and smugness by the Republican party, you can’t help but smile these days.  The GOP is a party in disarray with no vision, no soul and no direction.

In an article in the Washington Post – For GOP, a Case of Misshapen Identity – Republicans speak of a need to redefine themselves and set a new course for the future.   They speak of their party being “broken“, in a “rebuilding time“, “trying to figure out who we are” and “soul searching“.

It is refreshing to hear some Republicans finally understand that the party’s “deeds did not match its words. Did not rein in spending. Did not rein in earmarks” and that “In many ways we got what we deserved“.

You’re damn right you did!   Bush and his minions made a mockery of not only the democratic process but of his own party as well.

All that said, let’s all hope the Republican party does, in time, become a principled political force focused on the needs of the country and not on those of a select few.  One party rule for too long a period of time is unhealthy and dangerous for any country.

So while I hope the GOP does eventually find itself, for now I’ll delight in watching them wander in the desert of mayhem and lost identity.  It sort of puts a smile on my face.

While this may be true,I hear the Republicans might be considering Jeb Bush running for Party Leader. If they are “trying to figure out who we are” a 3rd Bush President,if he won, would give the prominent Bush clan unprecedented power to one family and the same old horror rule the country has endured these pass 8 years. Arrogance, corruption and greed!

How stupid can any American be if this were to pass.

  2. Jill says:

Obviously, the GOP is uncoordinated. The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.

After the last disastrous 8 years, I can’t imagine another Bush ever making a run at the presidency…but then in the world of politics, don’t ever discount anything.

As for the right hand/left hand thing, it’s probably more a case of the body not having a head at the moment. The party is waiting for a leader to emerge. This is why loudmouth clowns like Rush Limbaugh can have such an impact with conservatives in the absence of a true voice for the party.

BTW, if you’ve never seen Bush’s left hand/right hand line, check out this video:

It’s number 2 on David Letterman’s list of Bush stupidities. For a longer compilation of Bush’s idiocy, check out…

Amazing that this guy was president for five minutes, forget 8 years.

You still at it with President Bush I see. Yawn…..

I think the disaster that is shaping up to be President Obama will be all, not necessarily only the Republicans, but any viable candidate for the Presidency in 4 years will need.

But we can always look at the bright side. So far he has high approval ratings with the Taliban and Al Qaeda.

  5. mario says:

“But we can always look at the bright side. So far he has high approval ratings with the Taliban and Al Qaeda.”

Yep. Nice to see that Obama can bring people together. The president has a 70% approval rating among Americans.

  6. bigdaddy says:

In all fairness, I have to say I got a chuckle out of the Letterman Video. The other one is just another edited, spliced and disrespectful effort and a stupid attempt to discredit our President. Not surprising it comes from a Canadian Source. And you are the guys that cried foul at the mere mention of President Obama’s middle name.

Must be very consoling living in that liberal mental fog.

  7. bigdaddy says:

Yep. Now if he can just get the nut case from Iran on his side………Who NEEDS the American Public??

  8. bigdaddy says:

Little ambitious there, aren’t we? I guess it’s okay though. Perhaps that tingling feeling is spreading??
