Political Lie of the Year

liar http://mariopiperni.com/

.

The nominees for Top Lie Spoken By A Politician or Political Pundit are:

  • A claim by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck that John Holdren, President Barack Obama’s top science adviser, “has proposed forcing abortions and putting sterilants in the drinking water to control population.”
  • A claim by Orly Taitz that a birth certificate showed that President Obama was born in Kenya.
  • Sarah Palin’s claim that the government would set up boards to determine whether seniors and the disabled were worthy of care. That is, death panels.
  • President Obama’s statement that “preventive care saves money.”

The envelope please…and the winner is:

Death Panels!

Republicans in congress quickly latched on to the lie and repeated it at every turn.  It soon became the rallying cry for every crazy who could scribble S O C I A L I S T with their crayolas and drive to the nearest tea party idiot-fest to slobber along with their fellow wackos.

Fun times.

  1. Frances says:

Correcting insulin resistance is a whole lot cheaper than treating full-blown diabetes. That would be a good example of preventive care.

  2. janine says:

Is there a crown that comes with this distinguished honor. Sarah is going to want a crown. No no, a mere tiara will not do.

  3. Melody Brynne says:

Hey Janine! She already got her headgear….the John McCain visor with the McCain name inked out in black! What a crown!

  4. janine says:

Oh that’s right Melody, I forgot about that. Well then she’s all set with her inked out McCain crown, because that’s classy

  5. Melody Brynne says:

If only she could remember that visors don’t keep the sun from baking what’s left of her brain!

  6. azannaphx says:

“I did not mean anything disrespectful by scratching his name out. I just needed a hat to take to Hawaii. After all, what my father recently spilled the beans about my short college stint in Hawaii, I needed to hide!” (She left her 4th attempt at completing college in Hawaii because there were “too many Orientals in Hawaii for her liking”.

  7. Frances says:

You’d think with a lucrative book deal that Palin could afford a new $3 visor.

  8. Melody Brynne says:

She’s spending it all on endorsements of right wingnuts for office!

  9. Tennessean says:

If you took the time to find out a little something about her rather than just be a magpie, repeating what the liberal media drivels out for you, you might understand why she might be so inclined.

It’s amazing that women, in particular, are so harsh on her.

  10. Melody Brynne says:

I grew up with someone just like her! I know her type! It takes another woman to know another woman, Tenn. and judging by your judgment on this site lately, I am of the opinion that you lack the ability to understand women much. Just my opinion based on your behavior here.

  11. Tennessean says:

Melody, I doubt very much that you grew up with anyone like Palin. Unless you spent your childhood years in the remote areas of someplace like Alaska in the 50′s and 60′s. I think you once again over estimate what you think you know.

And you shouldn’t make judgments about things of which you have absolutely no knowledge or expertise. Your “opinions” are exactly that. Opinions. And in this case, an uneducated one.

  12. Zenith says:

@Melody TN must have read Palin’s book and now thinks he has greater insight into bubblehead than the rest of the planet. Good luck trying to reason with stupidity.

  13. Frances says:

TN, how about you try treating people here like you think we should treat Palin?

The subject is political lies and Palin wins the Whopper Award for her tromping around the country squeaking about Death Panels and government-forced euthanasia. She should also win the Stupid Award for interpreting a benefit for end of life counseling and living wills (which she supported as Gov.) as death panels.

  14. Frances says:

@Zenith – maybe TN stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

  15. Tennessean says:

“TN, how about you try treating people here like you think we should treat Palin?”

How about “Turnabout’s fair play.”? Of course, being the elite intellectual you may not have heard of that little saying. The subject may have been about political lies, but you and your catty, sycophant friend turned it into a little nattering hen session about her visor.

  16. Tennessean says:

Well, I am reading Palin’s book. And yes, I’d say that gives me a bit of a better insight than some loud mouthed zen… err….idiot that blathers on without taking the time to do any investigation on his or her own.

  17. Frances says:

TN, if you want to make everything personal and about you, then fine, but the people you attack here really don’t care what you think when you act that way. You just make a handy pinata and we all have really big sticks. Bigger than yours.

  18. Melody Brynne says:

Tenn., for your information, I did grow up in the Pacific NW in the heart of the Wallowa National Forest just 50 miles from the High Lakes Wilderness Area so I do know something about growing up in wilderness and forest and a small town much like Wasilla. And yes, we do get down to 30 below zero in winter so I also know about getting up at 4 am to milk cows by hand (not machines) and taking care of livestock before going to band practice and school. And yes, I played flute just like Sarah, so I know what she experienced. I know her better than you think I do! I also lived in a town with fundamentalist orientation to religion. There are many women just like her in my hometown….my own mother included, who, in her younger days, could be a twin of Sarah Palin, hairdo and all! So watch what you accuse me of not knowing! You are way off base on this one!

  19. janine says:

    @Melody Brynne

TN always accuses people of not knowing what they speak, Melody, because he cannot fathom people have a depth and breadth of experience that formulate their opinions. Plus it’s a classic straw man argument he delivers

  20. Tennessean says:

Frances, why don’t you just bite me.

  21. Tennessean says:

Melody & Janine Bobbsey, please note I said “I doubt”.

And still Melody, I would suggest there is probably a whole lot of difference between Oregon in the 50′s and Northern Alaska. After all, Alaska didn’t even become a state until 1959. Palin was born in 1964 and moved to Alaska as an infant.

No Melody, knowing what I do about your life and character, I doubt you really know anyone like Palin. And I don’t necessarily mean that in a bad way.

  22. Tennessean says:

Janine says, “…because he cannot fathom people have a depth and breadth of experience that formulate their opinions.”

Imagine this statement coming from a member of the group of thinkers that think NO CONSERVATIVE thought can originate independent of Limbaugh, Fox, O’Reilly et. al.

You BIG OL’ FAT HYPOCRITE!!!!!! ;-)

  23. janine says:

    @TN

*heavy sigh* You really make me weary.

I have never said nor do I think that no conservative thought can originate independent of Limbaugh, etc…. Saying that I did is pure fabrication on your part.

Come on TN, knock off the libel, I thought you were better than that.

  24. Frances says:

    @TN, I don’t eat pig.

  25. Tennessean says:

Frances, okay, but not quite as good as your last funny.

  26. Tennessean says:

Janine, and i wish you would quit lying. You have made almost that precise statement. I’m not anal enough to search the blog archives. And there’s really nothing to prove one way or the other as far as I’m concerned. But are you really going to sit there and say you have never said Conservatives/Teabaggers/Birthers/BSFC Republicans simply parrot what they hear from Fox, Limbaugh, etc.?

It’s insignificant to me. If it’s important enough to anyone that has the time and inclination, let them search for it.

For my part, until Mario includes some sort of search engine to search posts for specific wording or info, it just doesn’t rate that high on my g.a.s. meter to PROVE you are being less than truthful when I KNOW you are being less than truthful.

  27. janine says:

    @TN

If it was insignificant to you, you would stop bringing it up. It is you who are lying. I have said that you, for example, parrot what they hear on Fox etc., but what I have NOT said, is that that applies to conservatives (note the ‘s’ — which connotes conservatives as a whole)

You can say that I am less than truthful all you want but that doesn’t make it an accurate statement.

Stop acting like a spoiled child TN, if you cannot discuss matters like an adult, don’t bother.
