Personalizing The Health Care Debate

Health Care  http://mariopiperni.com/

.

The Obama age is upon us and has entered the realm of health care reform.  One of the great successes of the Obama election campaign was his ability to take his message right to the people via the Internet.  Through expert and intricate use of social networking and the online world of communication, the Obama campaign was able to raise hundreds of millions in contributions and to personalize his message unlike anyone before him.

With the online machinery and technology already in place, the Obama administration will now put it to use in selling his health care reform plan by use of a “health care story bank“.   The government will make available an online database of personal stories by individuals who are suffering under the current health care system.  Brilliant.  It is one thing to tell someone who has a comfortable health care plan in place that health care reform is needed and quite another to have them hear the same from a fellow American who has mortgaged his house to the hilt to pay for an operation.

Here is an example of what the story bank will be like…

    I heard Obama’s address to the peeps today, and I thought he made public option sound like a good option.

    I think it is risky (I believe universal single payer health care would work better, esp. if we followed another, already used model…) but this ‘public option’ does allow phase out of private, if that is to be. It won’t be a giant, quick change as univ sing payer would have been. I guess that is good for any economy… slow change.

    Social Networking is the name of the game.

    Brilliant president we have. It is a shame that the opposition cannot see how important the regular folks working together on a common goal, can make a different! We did get him elected did we not!

    Here he goes out again onto the world with his messenger bees all over the communities to get the job done once again! Documenting health care challenges, what a great idea! Its going to be like reality TV.

    Health Care Reform is the new game in town!

    @Mario
    Is that an old switchboard? Nice. Like the illustration. Did not see my name up there… Just kidding!

    But maybe you should have considered putting Lib’s name up there… I bet you with all he has to say that he would do great at social networking.:-)

  4. mario says:

    @Maria

    No, it’s a modern network switching router but I wish I had thought of having an oldfashioned switchboard instead. That would of been a nice touch.

    I will consider having your name on a future illustration which requires the name Maria Sofia Belgara to be prominent. Promise.

  5. Holly Cairns says:

    No Holly there either, damn! R U a server man, Mario? Next Level style?

  6. mario says:

    Maria and Holly: go check the illustration now. The stuff I do for you guys…gladly.

  7. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

    @holly @mario
    Hey Holly we got on the board! I wonder what our friend Lib would say… Don’t see his name up there. So we are part of the wiring system of this “network switching router” that Mario has graciously edited to include us.

    Feeling kind of special and bright yellow this very moment! I also feel skinny and thin and with a big head and poof hairdo. The hairdo (connecting caps look like the head with big hair.) I can do without.

    [Mario, any chance you could edit this again?] lol Oh now that I look at it again, it is not a poof hairdo but the head with chin on the chest. We could get eyes… no he will not do it.

    Holly or Mario would that constitute “making it to the big house” in computer talk? lol

    This is too funny so I am laughing and being silly. Silly is good… :)

    Thank you for starting my evening with a good laugh!

  8. Holly Cairns says:

    Made it to the big house! Yeah!

    If only I had health care there on the end…

  9. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

    @Holly
    Consider going to http://www.barackobama.com and see what networking they are doing in your community. I believe this is the big meeting weekend. This is They are all over the place here in Miami/Coconut Grove, FLorida. They are gathering information regarding health care issues… it can’t hurt. Go to a meeting/gathering.

    If you still need health care or want to help advance the issue.

    Just a thought.

  10. Holly Cairns says:

    thanks maria sofia belgara I’ll consider it. Hope?

  11. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

    @Holly
    These kids that are networking the communities are the same college students that got Obama in the White House. This is why I have faith and if I did not have health insurance I would get my face out there and would get it however form I could.

    You also have your political views, opinions and ideas which you express above and that you would also share. That is what they need to hear “the real stories!”

    The administration through these community events is at the phase called “discovery period” in the field of law. They want and need to collect data and research before drafting the reform. I am going to go to one in Miami. Want to be able to say that I made a difference and contributed to the reform!

  12. Maria Sofia Belgara says:

    @holly
    this is what I was talking about… it is this weekend.
