Joe Lieberman Plans To Block Public Option

Joe Lieberman http://mariopiperni.com/

.

Joe Lieberman is entitled to his opinions but he should stop pretending he’s a Democrat.  When he supported his buddy John McCain and Caribou Barbie in the last election, he gave up any right he had to refer to himself as a Democrat, independent or otherwise.

Here’s his position on health care reform.

“We’re trying to do too much at once,” Lieberman said. “To put this government-created insurance company on top of everything else is just asking for trouble for the taxpayers, for the premium payers and for the national debt. I don’t think we need it now.”

[...]

“I can’t see a way in which I could vote for cloture on any bill that contained a creation of a government-operated-run insurance company,” Lieberman added. “It’s just asking for trouble – in the end, the taxpayers are going to pay and probably all people who have health insurance are going to see their premiums go up because there’s going to be cost shifting as there has been for Medicare and Medicaid.”

Again, Lieberman can believe what he wishes (Iraq was a just war, McCain would of been a great president, the country doesn’t need a public option, etc.) but let’s stop the charade.

Here’s hoping the people of Connecticut let Lieberman know what they think of him and his position on the public option.

“I don’t think we need it now.”

No Joe. YOU don’t need it now. The people do.

  2. janine says:

“We’re trying to do too much at once,” is his opinion which is NOT a reason to block the public option.

Once again: I want to see his birth certificate and has anyone checked the back of his neck?

  3. Jim Irwin says:

Joe Lieberman is a complete sell out to the insurance lobbyists and I hope that the good people of Connecticut have enough sense to vote his sorry ass out of office next time he’s up for re-election.
    I call him “TRAITOR” JOE!

  4. Tennessean says:

janine, but the “opinion” of others that we DO need Government ran health care is reason enough to attempt to cram it down the throats of an unwilling public??

  5. Tennessean says:

mario and jim, the people of Connecticut actually did show Lieberman what they thought of him. The Democrats tried to screw him. He ran as an independent and won.

He has caucused with the Democrats but splits with them on this issue and now YOU guys want to turn on him also.

    Dang!! Talk about intolerance!!

  6. janine says:

    @Tennessean,

the overwhelming support of the public is behind the public option. Those statistics have been brought up in these comment sections before.

  7. Frances says:

Tennessean says: “janine, but the “opinion” of others that we DO need Government run[sic] health care is reason enough to attempt to cram it down the throats of an unwilling public??”

Does your insurance company run your health care?

  8. Jovial says:

    Tennessean,

Cram it down an unwilling public ? Welcome to democracy again. The majority wants health care reform. The minority want health care reform substantively different from the Obama administation and more to the tune of Fixed News. So what do you know. Lawmakers will do their democratic right and you will support the democracy that your country professes. If giving tax breaks to the rich by the Bush administration caused rancour with the poor, too bad but they had the reins to do it.

Your unwilling public is the minority and the minority does not rule at the present time.

  9. laurieD says:

@Jovial. You are right but individuals like Tennessean will never understand. They are so immersed in a bed of lies which they are unaware of that one cannot rationally discuss with them. They operate on a completely different set of *facts* which they hold to be true. They gather knowledge from a dishonest conservative media. Take a look at the mental gymnastics they need to go through to formulate what they believe is a rational argument. It’s hilarious. I’ve learned to take pity on them and move on.

  10. Tennessean says:

Frances asks, “Does your insurance company run your health care?”

Frances, thank you for asking me what is quite possibly the most important question in this discussion. NO. They do not. Do they have influence? Yes. Do I have many options at my disposal? Yes, I do. Would that change if the expected happens and the Government Ran Program ends up being my ONLY option?

    Absolutely!

Do you have any options when it comes to paying taxes?

  11. Tennessean says:

Jovial, as always, admirable thoughts. Wrong on substance.

Here’s one source. Feel free to search for the many others.

  12. Tennessean says:

laurie, thank you for your concern for my mental health. When you people get through screwing up the US Health Care System, lip service is probably all the help I’ll be able to receive.

You guys are willing to settle for take a number, take a seat type health care just so you can get it for free. I am not.
