MediaMatters just posted the following. Fits in perfectly with what I just wrote in my last post.
The O’Reilly Factor, Hannity, and Glenn Beck, Fox News’ three top-rated programs for 2009, combined to devote a total of four minutes and five seconds of coverage to President Obama’s address and question and answer session with House Republicans at their retreat in Baltimore.
With twenty minutes remaining in President Obama’s question and answer session with House Republicans at their retreat in Baltimore, Fox News cut to The Live Desk co-host Trace Gallagher who asserted that Obama was “at times being a little bit combative” and that “there was a little bit of lecturing there.” By contrast, MSNBC and CNN aired the event in its entirety.
Fox News subsequently aired all of the “Republican response” press conference held by House Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), and Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) after the question and answer session with Obama.
The Pravda arm of the GOP never fails in demonstrating what they are. Shills.
On the postive side, even wingnuts can’t take away the brilliance of Obama…at least when it’s this obvious and in their face.
Michelle Malkin.
“…the session has been most compelling – the most transparency and openness we’ve seen since the start of his term. Good on the House Republicans for throwing the doors open. And, yes, I’m going to compliment the president: Good on him for taking part.”
“Do this every week.”
Stephen Hayes.
“Look, it was a nice event. It was a smart event. I think this worked for the White House and this worked for the House Republicans. I loved the exchange. I hope they do this once a month.”
Charles Krauthammer.
“I thought it brought out the best of Obama. It helped him a lot. It made Republicans looked good, but I think it was good for the country. Look, for Obama, he engaged in a fairly high level debate on policy with his antagonists and he showed his best qualities as a fine analytic mind. He was able to phrase and to frame his opponents’ arguments in a clear way. And I thought he held his own quite well. I do think it should be something we ought to consider institutionalizing.”
Yes, yes! Institutionalize it! PLEASE!

Yep, shame on FOX News for not covering the whole exchange. I wonder, though, if they aired it at a different time? However, live is always preferred.
Even if they judged the exchange to be less-than-scintillating, it was news-worthy enough just on it’s uniqueness to warrant coverage.
I’d LOVE to see an event like that become a regular occurrence.
I’d really like to see an event like this become a regular occurrence also! and invite the Dems along as well.
Oh Fox, I’m shocked (sarcasm alert) that you cut out part of the President’s question/answer period. You never would have done that with Bush.
That is what I think is being responsible but most of all Obama is showing his true stripes. He did say he was going to change Washington and he did mention getting bipartisan legislation through and by God,he was effervescent in that exchange.
Truly he is a leader getting to know the issues and understanding his files. Republicans may be afraid that too many exposures like this may kill their chance in November but again another point was grand. That of not passing legislation because it may affect their political careers. The trust needs to come back to Washington and that the elected serve the people not themselves nor corporations.
