How Many books are there in the Curious George Series?

George Bush - The Reader

I had to laugh when I read this.

It appears President Obama has to step up his reading pace if he wants to beat his predecessor in one particular measure: how many books a president can polish off a year.

In an interview with the BBC Tuesday, Obama said he is currently reading Joseph O’Neill’s 270-page novel “Netherland,” a book Obama first said he began back in April.

If Obama is close to finishing the novel, that puts him on less than a 10 book-a-year pace, far less than the close to 100 books President Bush was reportedly able to finish in the same amount of time.

In 2006, Bush read 95 books to Roves 110: a Herculean pace of nearly two books a week

Funny.  I’d bet that Bush has not read 100 books in his lifetime. Here’s a guy who readily admitted early on in his presidency that he never even read newspapers.

So tell me, how many books are there in the Curious George series?

  1. Wow, two books a week and the bulk of time spent on his ranch and on vacation……while Cheney minded the store..
That must be why the RNC doesn’t know what to do about Obama, he’s actually working at his job.

  2. I read this on another post.

Top Ten Reasons Why GWB Has Read More Books than Obama:
    10) Reading the jacket is pretty much the same as reading the book
    9) Buying the book means you read it.
    8) Having Laura read it while your falling asleep is basically an audio book.
    7) Someone telling you about a book is the same as reading it
    6) Reading the comics in all the newspapers everyday amounts to reading a book
    5) Who cares if I read My Pet Goat every week, it still counts.
    4) So what if comic books are only 10 pages, it’s still a book!
    3) The Air Force One In-flight magazine is just like a book.
    2) If a picture is worth a 1,000 words then 10 pictures equals a book
    1) I got plenty of time on my hands because Dick is running everything anyway.

  3. CNN still running stories about Bush reading??? Its pretty well known that Bush did not read at all during his presidency. He didn’t read fiction or non-fiction books. Well, he read the Bible, categorize that as you will. He sure didn’t read any National Intelligence Estimates or the memo titled “Bin Laden Determined to Attack in U.S.”

Can the traditional media please stop pretending that Bush can read?

  4. Very funny! You can now write for David Letterman when the writers go on strike! lol
