I was just talking with some friends about the whole “Arabic sounding name” issue. Sheesh. I sure hope that we don’t experience the same kind of awful hate crimes and attacks like those following 9/11. :-(
That is a very unfair comment. Let’s get some facts first. I was just going to comment on how I felt Fox News was grabbing the “Terrorist” theme and refusing to let it go. And that I felt that was pretty crappy of them.
Then I read your comment and realized it’s not just Fox News.
In my heart, I’m praying for peace and calm and comforting of us all. My son is in Iraq with the Marines and my heart hurts tonight for soldiers everywhere.
“Police fatally shot the shooter, and have identified him as Army Major Malik Madal Hassan. The Associated Press reports Major Hassan was a mental health professional on base.”
To what unfair comment are you referring? If you are referring to the post then yes, the bigots are all out on Fox shouting ‘terrorism.” Those killed and the families they leave behind are nothing to Fox coverage. They should honor that instead of spouting bigoted hate
janine, okay. I think anyone shouting “Terrorism” is jumping the gun. I said as much and if you would open your biased eyes, you would have seen that.
But janine, what if it IS a coordinated Terrorist attack? Wouldn’t it be just as wrong to convey a false sense of security when other attacks might be in the works?? Shouldn’t we be encouraging a little bit of a heightened sense of awareness?

Many on the right, while I’m sure are not “happy” it happened, since it DID happen, they would be only too satisfied if it were a “Terrorist” attack as it should effectively doom this Presidency.
Many on the left will go out of their way to minimize any “Terrorist” connections, IF THERE ARE ANY for exactly the same reason.
And in the middle, are you and I. Regardless our ideologies.
We have to look at the history of these people and see why this incident occured. These were bonafide Americans and shit happens in the army with the pressures therein. It could have been two or three white caucasians.
Take a breath and let’s look deeper for some kind of reasoning

Many TV news stations are making much of the alleged shooter’s name. This is disturbing and of great concern.

Those on the left aren’t and won’t JUMP at the chance to scream terrorism without FACTS that terrorism is involved. That’s the difference.

Craig, those on the left won’t jump at the chance to scream Terrorism because it does not benefit their position. That is the only reason.
You see, you have to set aside your bias and hypocrisy. All you have done is perpetuate both and proven my point.
