I had to write something about Rod Blagojevich’s impeachment. Actually, I need to thank the former Illinois Governor for keeping me amused for the last number of weeks and more important, for giving the professional comedians out there such a rich source of material to draw from.
I think I can best sum up Blagojevich’s performance by offering you a segment of MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann’s show from last night. Watch for the second half of this clip where Olbermann plays the highlights from this week’s late night television shows portrayal of Blagojevich. It’s hilarious, especially the Mother Teresa, Ghandi and Stephen Colbert segments.
Am I to assume you have no problem with seeing him removed when there are no Criminal Charges against him and no proof that he has done anything wrong?
He may be guilty as heck, but I think they rushed to judgment. They should have at LEAST waited for him to be charged. How will it appear now if charges are never filed?

I’m surprised being the stark raving liberal you are, that you aren’t equally concerned about an Official being impeached and ran out of office with no charges being lodged against him. Guess it’s easier just to cast dispersion on others.
What?!!? No charges against Blagojevich? Where have you been for the last month? There is a 76 page federal complaint against Blagojevich on bribery and conviction charges. You can read them for yourself here.
Also, the impeachment process in the US does not require that the legislative branch of government wait for a criminal case to impeach an elected official. The House and Senate hear the evidence and tries the individual on the evidence presented. The House votes to impeach and a second vote in the Senate is required to remove them from office.
This is exactly what Illinois did in the Blagojevich case. They followed the law and process and did what they had to do. I have no idea what your problem is unless you’re suggesting a change of the impeachment laws.
After Blogojevich was impeached by the state House, he should of stepped down before he was thrown out of office by the Senate.

No one assumed anything. The Illinois House and Senate studied the evidence against Blagojevich and determined he was guilty. This is exactly how the impeachment process works and how it’s been in every impeachment hearing in US history. Why should this one be any different?

Blagojevich will have his day in court. All they did was what happens in EVERY impeachment episode in the US. They did their job as dictated by US law.
