Gitmo and Torture

Guantanamo http://mariopiperni.com/
.

Congressman Aaron Schock lays out the Republican argument for not moving Gitmo detainees to American soil.  Let me sum it up for you: Americans are scaredy-cats while terrorists are supermen who can leap over tall buildings in a single bound.  Also, torture is good. Any torture.

Schock:  “I don’t believe that we should limit waterboarding – or, quite frankly, any other alternative torture technique – if it means saving Americans’ lives.”

As Bodenner points out at the DailyDish, the main reason for shutting down Guantanamo is “its use as a propaganda tool for terrorist recruitment.”  Why do conservatives have such a difficult time understanding this simple idea?   For as long as Gitmo is left standing, jihadists can point to it as a symbol of American oppression and house of torture. Why let them keep this easy means to recruit more terrorists?

It’s hysterically funny that the Republicans etc., think that Americans are now too fragile and scared to have terrorists housed in our jails and tried in our courts. Seems this is a new fear brought on by the Dems being voted in to the White House.

It probably is very funny to the terrorists that America is so scared of them.

BTW, terrorists are already housed in our jails but no one seems to reference that fact.

Is being “Pro Torture” a big selling point in the 2010 elections?

Oh wait. I remember now. Being against torture is anti-American. Americans are just the torturing kind, I guess. It’s what we do. Nobody does torture like Americans because we are #1 at everything!
