Political Cartoons of the Day

“Sickness shows us what we are.”
~Latin Proverb

Does it really? I don’t deal well with illness. I just don’t have the patience for it.  Anyway, fever’s finally down from a high of 102.8 and my appetite is slowly returning. I might just about be able to bake my Easter bread before Sunday. Nice.

Happy Thursday.

  1. Charlie Sommers says:

    Glad you’re feeling better Mario. What kind of bread are you baking for Easter? I am a Tennessee hillbilly and will be happy with cornbread to accompany my ham and beans.

  2. janine says:

    Happy you are conquering the virus! Easter bread, mmmm if you bake it will you be posting a picture?

    @Charlie I haven’t had a good cornbread in a long time, suppose it’s time to visit the folks!

  3. dinamic says:

    Good pick of cartoons this time as usual. The Jan Brewer one is genius.

    My guess is that the party called her and said “this birther mumbo jumbo is hurting us and it has to stop”. I can’t believe she had a rational moment just out of the blue.

    Oh I just heard that Trump is backing off the “birther” nonsense lol. Without a wacko magnet like the “birth certificate” issue he will have to talk policy. You know “I would go to Lybia and take the oil ” kind of policy ideas. That should go well with some of the tea party but not so well with real republicans, if there still are any real republicans and with independents. It will be interesting to watch it all play out with this bunch of “interesting characters”. I can’t wait for their debates.

    Get well very soon Mario.

  4. Charlie Sommers says:

    @ dinamic, The Donald has already said that we should take Iraq’s oilfields to pay for the war we fought there. I am wondering about the morality of invading a country, destroying their way of life, and then expecting them to pay for it.

  5. janine says:

    @Charlie Sommers

    clearly you are not as patriotic as The Donald

  6. Charlie Sommers says:

    LOL janine, I suppose I should admit that I lost a good deal of my “nationalism” during the Vietnam war. There is a huge difference between nationalism and patriotism. I honestly try to love everyone but the Donald is making himself hard to love. :-))

  7. Charlie. It’s a sweet raisin bread similar to Italian panettone…only better. Here’s a picture I posted of my bread from a couple of years back.

    Thanking everyone for the emails and comments regarding my illness. Much appreciated. I’m having a bit of a relapse here but I’m hoping that a good night’s rest and I’ll be back in form tomorrow. Seriously, I can’t take too much more of this, whatever it is.

  8. janine says:

    @Charlie Sommers

    I can certainly understand how you lost a good deal of your nationalism during the Vietnam war. I agree, there is a huge difference between nationalism and patriotism… not a lot of injustices are done in the name of nationalism but plenty are perpetrated under the patriotism meme.

    The Donald is making himself hard to love what with his “i’m going to look them in the eye and tell them we are taking their oil” speak….*heavy sigh* I’m sure there is something about him that is redeemable but I can’t yet see that something

  9. janine says:

    @mario

    a relapse….well that’s not nice of the virus attacking you. Did you call The Donald because I’m sure he’d tell you to look the virus in the eye and banish it.. But then he’d probably want to look at your birth cert first or your tax returns before dispensing his advice…

    feel better

  10. Janet says:

    Hey Mario,
    Wish that ole bug would bug out already. :D Now that I’m back to life as usual, better from illness, taking care of affairs after my Dad passed away, a lot of the places I frequent on the net have changed. Things can change fast!

    Are you still on twitter? I can’t find you there.

    The bread looks yummy.

    That cornbread sounds good too, Charlie. Warm cornbread with ham hocks and beans. I so hated that supper when I was a child. I was born in CA but raised by a Texas/Oaky family, lol… I love that stuff now, but rarely have it. Most of my family are just a whole lotta aging cousins.
    On my Grandparent’s farm we had to share one chicken, killed, cleaned, and cooked, with biscuits made from scratch, and gravy made from fresh raw milk, with a table of 9 adults and a flock of kids for Sunday dinner. Nothing like chicken bones, and dry fluffy biscuits.

    Happy Earth Day, everyone.
    Enjoy your week-end. Peace.
