Replace McCarthy with King. Do the same with Communist and Muslim and it’s 1950 all over again.
On Thursday, Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), the chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, will hold hearings on what he calls the ”radicalization” of members of the American Muslim community. King, who has previously called for the New York Times to be tried for treason and for WikiLeaks to be listed as a terrorist organization, has never shied away from confronting terrorist threats wherever he sees them…
I’m not sure what King hopes to accomplish with his hearings unless it’s to further inflame anti-Muslim sentiment. You can never have too much of that, I imagine. At a time when one in three Americans believe that Muslims in America have become radicalized (don’t ask them for proof, they don’t have any) and bigots everywhere protest the building of mosques in the U.S., it would seem that King’s hearings only gives credence to Islamopobic beliefs. After all, you don’t have a hearing unless there is clear and present danger, right?
Peter King is not seeking truth. He’s looking for a ‘See! I told you I was right!‘ moment. Asking Muslims to defend themselves against mass hysteria brought on by conservative politicians and media, is the same as asking an innocent person to defend themselves against charges of sexual harassment. The fact that one has to defend themselves against ugly accusations makes them damaged goods no matter how innocent they might be.
So, who is this hearing for? Well, it’s for people like Catherine Mann-Grandy, wife of former Republican Congressman Fred Grandy (yes, the actor from The Love Boat). She appeared on Fox to warn Americans that the country will be “lost” if people “don’t wake up soon and applaud” Peter King’s Muslim radicalization hearings.
“The real problem is that none of us seem to understand there is self-jihad, civilization jihad, going on in our country every single day, 24/7,” Catherine Mann-Grandy said. “This is owned and orchestrated by the Muslim Brotherhood.”
“This is the same Muslim Brotherhood that the President invited to the speech in Cairo, that Denis McDonough, a top security advisor went out to a mosque on Sunday to reach out to the Muslim community before the Peter King hearings and say, ‘we are not blaming you all for a few bad events that have happened,’ like, I guess, Major Nadal Hassan shooting a bunch of people and the Times Square bomber and underpants bomber, and all those things.”
“Those kind of lone wolf things that we try to put together — and media cannot seem to figure out — it’s orchestrated,” Mann-Grandy said. “It’s all orchestrated by the Muslim Brotherhood.”
“If you look at the Holy Land foundation trial, you will find all of the evidence, including a five-stage plan,” Mann-Grandy said. “We’re at three now. You know what that is? It’s coerce the media. The fifth stage is total jihad.”
To feed his own delusions and bigotry (and those of people like Catherine Mann-Grandy), Peter King is going to have his grand hearing in Congress and single-handedly prevent the fifth stage of total jihad. The man’s a freakin’ American hero.
