Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America.
…is now history. After dragging out his election loss for two weeks, West finally came to grips with reality…sort of. This is what he wrote on his Facebook page yesterday.
While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election.
I’m not sure what made me happier on election night – President Obama’s win or Allen West’s loss. It might very well have been the latter. If there was one Republican who embodied the complete tea-bagging, partisan, obstructionist, narrow-minded idiocy of the last two years, it was West.
And so, to the man who once said that he believed that 78 to 81 members of Democrats in Congress were members of the Communist Party, here is my own little farewell message to Mr. West.
Take your message of ignorance and hate, take your message of economic favoritism for the wealthy, take your message of enslaving the middle class somewhere else. You can take it to Fox, you can take it to talk radio, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, but get the hell out of Congress.
No one has painted an uglier picture of Republican obstructionism, partisanship and insanity over the last two years than Tea Party favorite, Allen West. Well, except maybe for Michele Bachmann. So, forgive me if I take some pleasure in watching West desperately flail about in Rovian election night fashion as he reluctantly watches his political career come to an abrupt end in Florida.
U.S. Rep. Allen West was poised for a legal fight in his closely watched race Wednesday even as Democratic opponent Patrick Murphy declared a razor-thin victory.
The conservative congressman has refused to concede, but Murphy seized on the projections of several news organizations, declaring himself the victor after a long and often vicious campaign. It was unclear what effect West’s actions could have on Murphy’s 2,456-vote lead in the unofficial count, but the Republican’s hopes appeared to be fading.
No doubt, West will do well for himself in his new post-political career. There’s always room for another Palin kook on Fox or on the conservative radio clown circuit. Whatever. All that matters is that in the battle of teabagger vs. reality, chalk up another victory for reality.
Of the 50 or so Tea Party backed candidates who won seats in Congress in the 2010 midterms, no one wears their wingnut badge of crazy with more vigor and hyperbolic stupidity than Florida’s Allen West. A sampling of the man’s work…
“If Joseph Goebbels was around, he’d be very proud of the Democrat party, because they have an incredible propaganda machine.”
“[Liberals], take your message of equality of achievement. … You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America.”
“[Liberal women] have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness — to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient. That’s what we need you to do. Because if you don’t, then the debt will continue to grow…deficits will continue to grow.”
“Every time I see one of those bumper stickers [the Coexist movement], I look at the person inside that is driving. Because that person represents something that would give away our country. Would give away who we are, our rights and freedoms and liberties because they are afraid to stand up and confront that which is the antithesis, anathema of who we are.”
[The Democratic party is a] “21st-century plantation. So I’m here as the modern-day Harriet Tubman, to kind of lead people on the Underground Railroad, away from that plantation into a sense of sensibility.”
And the latest from the Congressman forced to leave the military after abusing an Iraqi detainee and firing a gun inches above his head
I believe there are about 78 or 81 members of the Democrat Party that are members of the Communist Party.
It’s called the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
Someone needs to tell Allen West that the Cold War has been over for 20 years and that the Republican party’s new ‘commies’ are Muslims, immigrants, Latinos and gays. Has he not been reading the internal memos from head office?
I like this response to Mr. West from one of our readers.
Somebody should just ask him to publish his list. Put up or shut up.
