   There is also the phenomena of “web debris” – I probably have 20 online accounts for various things like discussion forums, half of which I don’t use anymore. I noticed an ad somewhere asking what happens to your social network when you die. There’s a grim thought. From time to time, you see messages from family or friends announcing someone’s death.

   I build my own computers, so I’m very aware of how quickly things progress. My profession is computer-generated imagery and that’s a white-knuckle ride too.

   I guess a question to ask is, are we defining the computer age, or is it defining us? Or, how is the computer age allowing us to expand our possibilities? Even 10 years ago, before widespread broadband, I could not have worked from a home office. The internet is essential to my business and the computer literally defines my work.
