Why Is Rick Santorum Not In Therapy?

Seriously, get the man a shrink. Now. It is no longer funny.

Rick Santorum, 2008:

“Woodstock is the great American orgy. This is who the Democratic Party has become. They have become the party of Woodstock. They prey upon our most basic primal lusts, and that’s sex. And the whole abortion culture, it’s not about life. It’s about sexual freedom. That’s what it’s about. Homosexuality. It’s about sexual freedom.”

You have to feel for Rick’s children and the psychological damage being inflicted upon them by what is obviously a man who suffers from mental illness, most likely some form of sexual repression.

Democrats prey upon basic primal lusts? Oh my.

  1. Charlie Sommers says:

In 1969, a monumental music festival changed our world. More than half a million people came together – united in a message of peace, openness and cultural expression – and demonstrated how a generation could be heard, and Santorum thinks that was a bad thing?

I didn’t attend Woodstock because I was in the military stationed in East Asia at the time. I wish I could have been there.

  2. Mr. Spock says:

Woodstock was also a monument to decadence. I’m not sure that was a message anyone wanted to hear. Santorum was right. Woodstock was the great American orgy and, music aside, one we could only hope never gets repeated. Santorum stretches it but he is correct about sexual decadence in our society being influenced by liberal beliefs and policies. By definition, liberalism implies a lack of moral fiber.

  3. morton weiss says:

I believe that a big part of the worlds problems are caused by the repression of the sex drive. Most Repugs seem to be afflicted by this disease.I’m not sure but i think that some aborigine tribes wore little or no clothes and just accepted sex as a rite of passage and lived in harmony until the sex repressed missionary s changed their life styles. We now have a sex obsessed nominee running for office of Pres. who if elected would ban all freedoms that have anything to do with sex..Welcome to the “Christen Taliban”

  4. LiberalScumBag says:

Santorum won’t be elected President. Case closed.

  5. Santorum won’t be elected President. Case closed.

I think you’re correct…but then I’m reminded of 2000 and George W. and Florida and hanging chads and the Supreme Court decision…and then I don’t feel so correct anymore.

  6. Charlie Sommers says:

@ Mr. Spock, By who’s definition does liberalism imply a lack of moral fiber? Your’s?

Liberalism is simply a political or social philosophy advocating the freedom of the individual, parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent modification of political, social, or economic institutions to assure unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties. Most of the people I know who identify themselves as liberals have extremely high moral standards.

I have many conservative acquaintances, some in my immediate family, who consider themselves to be Christian conservatives yet condone practices that I consider morally repugnant.

It may interest you to know that evolutionary psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa of the the London School of Economics and Political Science correlated data on political and religious behavior with IQ from a large national U.S. sample and found that, on average, people who identified as liberal and atheist had higher IQs.

  7. Robert says:

I wasn’t at Woodstock, but I sure do like liberal sex, and lots of it. Get the guy some help!

@ Robert, That’s probably why I’m a democrat, the party of debauchery!!

  9. STEVE BONZAI says:

@ Steve Bonzai, And there is no preacher like a reformed sinner! Makes you wonder what Santorum and his ilk have been up to in the past.

Mr Spock. I’ve never heard your definition of liberalism but click on this to see a short (under one minute) clip of the way the Kennedys viewed liberalism. http://youtu.be/fJ2aOYel0Ng

  13. dinamic says:

I think I know why Santorum is so opposed to the enjoyment of sex. Have you seen the speech today where Santorum points to his head and says the people want to know what is up here and points to his heart and says and what is in here and then points to an area below camera and says and what’s burning in here? That could be the problem.

  14. Mr. Spock says:

Figure out which of the 2 political parties promotes abortion, promiscuous sex (free contraceptives), homosexuality and atheism and you’ll have your answer. It shouldn’t be too hard to work out..

  15. Charlie Sommers says:

Bwahahaha, Which of the two parties has had the most scandals committed by closeted homosexuals Mr Spock? Are you familiar with Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, Larry Craig, Bob Allen and Glen Murphy Jr. I don’t dislike these men for their sexual orientation but rather for their hypocrisy.

    http://www.badmouth.net/top-five-republican-gay-sex-scandals/

  16. Gary D. says:

Mr Spock, What color is the sky in your World? You and Reality are not even close. To my knowledge, No one ‘promotes’ abortion. As President Clinton clearly explained, we support Freedom of Choice. Very different thing, altogether.

Free contraceptives has nothing, and I mean nothing to do with being promiscuous sex. It is offered to married couples also. (BTW, what is wrong with promiscuous sex?)

Again, regarding homosexuality, there is a world of difference between accepting something and trying to destroy it.

As for atheism, it is really only the absence of a religious belief. It isn’t a religion. It isn’t a cause or belief in the devil and they don’t eat small children or start fires.

No atheist has ever stormed a medical clinic and killed doctors due to difference of opinion. To date, no serial killer has ever been identified as an atheist. It is not something you join, it is something you do not believe. All religions. You have a right to believe what you want and I have a right to think it’s cuckoo.

You can set your hair on fire or bow to the East. I could care less, just don’t tell me,I or my family have to do the same thing simply because you think it makes sense.

  17. Janet says:

Ahh yes, that so pious view of the righteous Con. Isn’t that right, Mr. Spock? I have seen with my own eyes, heard with my own ears, just how so many Cons, Christians or not, really think, and talk, and do. Not an once different then the rest of humanity Mr. Spock, not one thing you can find that separates us as people regardless of political, and religious views. Your very own words prove that.

  18. E.A. Blair says:

Why is Mr. Spock not in therapy?

  19. Robert says:

@Charlie Sommers….I’ve dabbled in progressive sex as well. ya know…..progress from foreplay to YE HAW!

  20. Mr Spock – I sure hope you appreciate what the liberals brought you – our Constitution is a liberal document influenced by the father of liberalism, John Locke.

As for the sex you so disavow, I think that’s pretty well be covered by most on this site already. My x-husband, the grandson of a preacher man and nephew to three more of them, had absolutely no problem steaming up the windows of his 1968 Road Runner with me back in the day. He’s still an R and I’m still a D. We ended up married, had three kids and it was he who cheated and moved on to a younger woman and ten years later on to yet another younger one. The liberal in me attempted to save the marriage and he saw no problem in walking, basically abandoning any responsibility for his children either emotionally or financially (I was able to enforce the latter, however).

People are people and you’ve painted a pretty broad brush there…one that you can see has been refuted with other broad brushes, fighting fire with fire.

Perhaps you should go to the liberal library and find a book containing the parish records of various churches back in the day. You’ll find one woman after another thrown out of the church for having become pregnant without benefit of marriage. (Of course, you won’t find the man having lost his standing in the church.)

Show me two teens with raging hormones and nature’s gift of a sex drive in order to procreate (as all creatures of earth are designed to do) and I’ll show you two teens who last thought is whether or not they have the benefit of marriage.

Doesn’t matter what state, what country, what religion, or what political party their parents belong to.

Just ask John McCain’s daughter — even she was appalled at the idea of birth control being taken away from the masses (including herself).

Please get over your self-righteousness and think with you head instead of the talking points you’re regurgitating.

  21. Robert says:

    Hey Dianna
I hear you, and you are one of many stories I’ve heard. I feel for you, and it always seems to me, that it is the kids who are hurt the most. Ol’ Frothy is out of his mind with the quest for power, and is starting with an easy target…women. I have also observed a concerted effort from the rest of these extremists to squash anything that looks like “equality” for anyone but them. Us sensible folks need to recognize this and help counter this push. Our country is at stake here, and women have very valid complaints and some great solutions. You are not alone.

  22. esd2000 says:

@Mr. Spock: By definition, liberalism implies a lack of moral fiber.
Moral fiber? enough about Newt Gingrich, Ex-Senator Ensign, David Vitter, the guy looking for men in all the wrong places, public bathrooms. Just to name a few. Stop preaching “moral fiber.” Republicans have a monopoly an talking about it but not actually living it. I consider myself at least somewhat liberal and have no doubt you have NO MORE “moral fiber” than I have. That’s just a fact jack. Unless moral fiber to you means going to church and singing really loud.

  23. Thanks, Robert, but I’ve done all right. I have a good job – one that I even like! – and I have no regrets other than marrying too early. There are a lot of other women out there who have not been able to take care of themselves, however. Lack of education, too many children, lousy job opportunities where they live — the list goes on and on.

For me, divorce was a blessing. For others, it can put their survival in jeopardy. Women still make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. There is still a disparity in the number of women CEOs vs males, as well as in Congress where the percentage of representatives in the House and Senate where women, who make up roughly half of the population, have less than 25% representation.

When I began working in 1972 there were no males in the field I was in. As soon as corporate America figured out there was a whole plethora of women out there capable of doing the job and doing it for less money, we took the places of the men they promoted. There are more of us now in this industry, but the men are still at the very top.

Yes, Robert, our country is at stake here. I’ve come to believe the GOP wants to take away contraceptives so they can repopulate the country with white males to keep the Hispanics from becoming the majority. They want us back under their thumbs, barefoot and pregnant. They want Stepford wives to bring home the bacon, keep their mouths shut and their legs open. They are afraid of living in a country where the minority has been suppressed since our founding. They don’t want to be on the receiving end of that.

I’ve never considered someone’s religion when deciding whom to vote for. The thought just has never crossed my mind. That has changed with this field of GOP candidates and current state legislators. Their religion has no place in governing us. If they feel their religious beliefs on these issues need to be legislated, then they won’t get my vote, no matter which party label they wear.

  24. E.A. Blair says:

@ Diana: I’m glad things worked out for you. As it happened, I ended up working in a field in which women had roughly equal representation with men in the rank-and-file, and also happened to dominate the supervisory positions. Of the four women bosses I had, three seemed to feel that they had something to prove by treating their male employees like dirt. True equality in the wokplace will only occur when revenge and retaliation ceases to be a motivation.

@esd2000: Don’t forget that the Republicans and their wingnuts never hesitate to lie, cheat, steal and distort the truth in the name of power.

  25. EA – Power, whether wielded by a man or a woman, unfortunately, does something to the psyche of some, I think. My most recent female boss (direct supervisor) treated the women horribly, while sucking up to the men (because she was young, single, was forced to move and knew no one in WA – and horny? LOL — I don’t know). She was smart and more than competent, but her people skills were unbearable. Fortunately, she came in as I was going out. Since I left she’s moved on to two other positions and now is returning to FL (sorry, Mario) from whence she came. Those left in her wake are grateful she has gone.

If she’s an example of equality in the work place, it has arrived. Revenge, and retaliation have no place there either. We need adults in the room at all times whether in corporate America or in government. In too many cases, the children have come to play and throw their tantrums.

  26. ocLiberal says:

Wow – “Figure out which of the 2 political parties promotes abortion, promiscuous sex (free contraceptives), homosexuality and atheism and you’ll have your answer.” Spock, where is the logic?

    LOGIC:

Democrats don’t “promote abortion,” we believe it should be a choice made by a pregnant woman. Not you. All the Democrats I know believe in avoiding this procedure, not promoting it because it is so cool.

Whether or not other people have, “promiscuous sex” as you put it, is none of your business. This is a free country, Vulcan. The same goes for homosexuality and atheism. If you want to live in an uptight, paranoid, busybody theocracy created in your own mind, then so be it. But the founding fathers your sister Sarah Palin so oft misquotes, set this country up to be a place for freedom.

Stay out of my life and my bedroom and MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!

    Live long and prosper.

  27. Diane says:

    Poor poor spock.
What gives you the right to determine how others will live?
because that is what mr. Santorum wants to do. Based on his faith and his faith alone. I hope you like being a Catholic. Because that is how you will live if santorum is elected. or maybe a Mormon? Like the Mormon lifestyle?
