Texas Rep. Joe Barton doesn’t believe ...
And Republicans wonder why they’re known as the Stupid Party.
North Carolina Republican state Rep. Tim Moore says that women can protect themselves from a new law that makes baring female breasts illegal by simply applying duct tape to their nipples.
On Wednesday, the state House Judiciary Committee C approved House Bill 34, which makes it a Class H felony to purposefully expose “private parts” for the “purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire.”
The bill expands the state’s definition of “private parts” to include a woman’s “nipple, or any portion of the areola.”
Under the proposed law, women could spend up to six months in jail for a first offense. “Incidental” nipple exposure by breastfeeding mothers would be exempt from the law.
Wow. How long before some member of the religious right Republican Taliban posing as a Republican legislator proposes a law that forces women to wear red, white and blue burqas?
Best line I’ve read in reaction to the proposed law: “If nipples are outlawed, only outlaws will have nipples.”
For a Republican who hates government,it is funny how they want to use it when it is to their advantage. So the new tenet is ” No government unless it suits our purpose ”
I always wondered how constitutional laws like that were. I have been under the impression that laws are not supposed to discriminate on the basis of sex, ethnic origin or religion. If men can strut around in public sans shirts why can’t women do the same?
I occasionally purchase beverages from a local liquor store that displays a sign on the door which states, :No shirt, no shoes, no service.” I have considered entering the store wearing nothing but a shirt and and a pair of shoes to see what their reaction would be.
Charlie, I once went to a restaurant with a sign reading “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service” prominently displayed. After I sat down, a waiter wearing only a pair of shorts dropped a menu on the table and said, “Get it yourself”.
…And these Southern states wonder why the rest of the country considers them gullible, ignorant, racist, redneck, backwoods jerks. Hmmm…justifiable, maybe? So – how many guys going shirtless on NC beaches are going to be arrested, under this law?
The obvious solution is to stage a number of protest rallies featuring bare breasts with extremely realistic fake nipples. Ha ha. Half the protestors can wear the fake nipples, the rest go au naturale and the police can try to guess which nipples are real. No hands, boys!
Now I wonder where I can get a lot of fake nipples?
Republicans wanting women to “hide nipples”? That is totally laughable!
At the recently past Republican convention in Tampa we found that the area strip clubs geared up well in advance for the flood of Republican visitors to their establishments.
“According to Angela Spencer of the Association of Club Executives, Republicans tend to make better strip club patrons overall.
Spencer told WFAE 90.7 FM, “Hands down, the Republicans have always been our best customers.I have heard club owners say, ‘Boy, those Republicans really are great customers.’”
AND let us NOT forget Michael Steele’s infamous gathering of Republican donors and supporters at a Lesbian Sex show in West Hollywood a couple years ago.
According to the Daily Caller Steele “spent $1,946.25 at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.”
An unnamed GOP fat-cat who attended the Republican orgy described it thus –
“This club is amazing. There are topless “dancers” acting out S&M scenes throughout the night on one of the side stages, there’s a half-naked girl hanging from a net across the ceiling and at one point I walked to the bathroom and pretty much just stopped dead in my tracks to watch two girls simulating oral sex in a glass case.”
GOP, like on many other issues are – Hypocrites, who have been disguising themselves as the “moral majority” for decades, unfortunate for them – the internet exposes their every LIE.
What’s wrong with a dress code? Public school children have to obey them. Members of the military have to obey them. Many employers impose them on the workplace. I haven’t seen anyone file a lawsuit over dress codes in any of these places.
It’s illegal in most places in the USA to be naked in public. That’s a dress code, too.
Before you continue your rant on the GOP, we should ask if any Democrats voted for that law.
Nothing if it’s sensible and not discriminatory. Pointing out the fact that the military has a dress code has absolutely nothing to do with the civilian population of our country. The schools have dress codes that are quite frequently taken to extremes, take this case of a young lady who was guilty of changing her hair color to a color that one of my older sisters came by naturally.
Dress codes in schools should only be instituted to stop extreme behavior that could be disruptive. My sisters auburn hair never caused any problems in elementary or high school.
It seems fair to blame Republicans for the South Carolina law since they control both the senate and house in that state. Any democrats who voted for the law would be just as guilty.
You also forgot to deal with the fact that many private employers have dress codes in their workplaces and
government offices also have them.
Many states have such laws on public exposure and the Supreme Court has ruled that such laws are constitutional, as long as the laws meet some basic requirements.
Your dislike of the GOP does not qualify as a constitutionally valid objection to such laws.
Thanks for the Wikipedia reference Art. Anyone can read it and see how silly some of the laws that have defined indecent exposure in the past have been. I personally am not offended in the least by either male or female nipples.
You are a resident of the 21st century. You don’t have a problem with women voting or working outside the home.
You accept sex in movies and pornography as freedom of expression, but this was not always so.
Even my parents, who grew up in the 1920s and 1930s, would approve of those laws.
My Father required that all my sister’s dates get his approval.
I was forbidden to discuss sexual matters at home or curse.
Unfortunately for my parents, I later joined the Navy and learned how to curse from the other sailors.
I had to be careful what I said when I came home on leave.

How many women are there in NC running around with exposed nipples that would warrant such a law being proposed? That’s the question.
Charlie, I once went to a restaurant with a sign reading “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service” prominently displayed. After I sat down, a waiter wearing only a pair of shorts dropped a menu on the table and said, “Get it yourself”.
Gimp,
My question would rather be where are the women !!!!
