Louie Gohmert Takes A Firm Stand on “Lunatics”

Louis Gohmert - Politics for Dummies : http://mariopiperni.com/

If House Republicans did not have Louie Gohmert to promote their lunatic fringe, they’d have to invent someone just like him.

The House voted on Wednesday to strike the word “lunatic” from all federal laws and only one lawmaker voted against the measure: Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas).

It was unclear initially why the Tea Party favorite opposed the change, and a Gohmert spokeswoman did not return a request for comment. The point of the bill, which cleared the Senate in May with no opposition, is to strike language from current law that contributes to the stigmatization of mental health conditions.

Why did the House vote 398-1 in favor of striking out the word from the federal code?

“Federal law should reflect the 21st-century understanding of mental illness and disease, and that the continued use of this pejorative term has no place in the U.S. code,” Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) said.

But, in true TeaBagger fashion, Louie Gohmert has never had any real use for 21st-century sensibilities.

Not only should we not eliminate the word ‘lunatic’ from federal law when the most pressing issue of the day is saving our country from bankruptcy, we should use the word to describe the people who want to continue with business as usual in Washington.

Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? In Gohmert’s mind, removing the word “lunatic” from the federal code somehow removes it from the English language. In truth, Loony Louie is just preserving his perfect record of lunacy. You might remember him as the man who,

“I talked to a retired FBI agent who said that one of the things they were looking at were terrorist cells overseas who had figured out how to game our system. And it appeared they would have young women, who became pregnant, would get them into the United States to have a baby,” said Gohmert. “They wouldn’t even have to pay anything for the baby. And then they would turn back where they could be raised and coddled as future terrorists. And then one day, twenty, thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life. ‘Cause they figured out how stupid we are being in this country to allow our enemies to game our system, hurt our economy, get set up in a position to destroy our way of life.”

And Louie wants to keep the word “lunatic” in the federal code. Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Maybe but they do have Michele Bachmann. You can always count on her to keep the flames of insanity burning brightly.

  2. Carol says:

“Terror babies”…striking similarities to the conspiracy theory about the President….you’d think SOMEONE, ANYONE would begin to see through the charade…and become bored with the repetition!

Glad to see you’re on the mend Mario…

  3. Charlie Sommers says:

Perhaps in Michele’s and Louie’s case the word lunatic should be replaced with something simpler, like doo doo head.!

  4. Sarah Lerda says:

Rep. Gohmert wanted to be sure his peculiarities went down in History.

  5. Cheryl says:

There is something wrong with people in that part of Texas.

  6. fidlerten says:

Louie is a prime example of a Tea Party member, with not only lunacy as a trait but ignorance too.

I think eventually Americans will realize that they don’t want these kind of extremist representing them in Congress and the Tea Party will go back into the swamps and hills from whence it came.

  7. Janet says:

True, Cheryl. In that part of Texas, they still have their graveyards separated by race.

  8. dinamic says:

“And then one day, twenty, thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life.”

Oh Louie no “terror baby” could do as good a job of destroying our way off life as your cracked ideas can do, don’t worry.
