If I’m reading John Liming correctly, the illustration above pretty much sums up his thoughts on the Republican Party’s role in the democratic process over the last four years.
___
One of the surest signs that something I am reading has been written by some unknowing idiot with right wing tendencies is when they say such mindless things as “Obama hasn’t worked with the Republican Congress.
What an absolute statement of total bull manure that kind of crap is!
The whole civilized world surely knows by now how that Republican Congress has stood in the President’s face and obstructed ever single issue that he has ever proposed so they could keep their anal little promise to make sure he doesn’t get a second term in office.
How dare some Rethug say that Obama has not worked with the Republican Congress!
Worse than that, perhaps is some of the right wing idiot’s mistaken impressions that the Congress is “Republican!” Only The House of Representatives is Repuglican as far as I can tell. The Senate was definitely controlled by Democrats the last time I looked.
I wish some of these (*%$#@) could get their story straight. (Too much to ask for I am sure.)
In a recent news release, I read that Candidate Romney has reportedly said something to the effect that if President Obama can’t change Washington from the inside but only from the outside, he (Romney) would be happy to make sure that Obama gets that chance.
I am wondering where Mr. R is going with that one?
Even if Romney were to win in November, he is still going to face a Washington that is “Broken” and I hope that if he does win in November, he faces similar challenges in governing that our President has faced.
If such a nightmare as a Republican power grab were to occur in November, 2012, it would please me to no end to have some highly-placed Democrat get in front of some television cameras and tell the world, “Our Number One priority is going to be to make sure that this president never gets elected for a second term.”
After that, I would hope and pray that Democrats remember how Rethugs treated our President for the past 4 years and would do their level best to return the favor to their own choice of “Leader.” I hope that if there is a Rethug win in November and that power shifts their way – - – I hope Democrats become as skilled in obstructionism as any Republican ever hoped to be and I hope they do it with the same intensity and apparent glee. It would, as the empty chair guy once said, “Make My Day!”
I believe the Republican candidate may have made the boast that if he is elected, Republicans and Democrats will come together.
If it is true that he actually said that, I think he is mistaken. After the way the Republicans have treated Democrats all through this President’s term – - – after the nasty, unkind remarks that have been made and all the names that have been called, I don’t think there is a Peck’s chance in Hell of Republicans and Democrats coming together. I hope Democrats are smarter than that!
I am hearing some Republicans starting to blame “The Media” and the “Polls” for the Republican Campaign’s present problems.
That, in my opinion, would be a typical Republican defense – - – denial!
Why can’t they just admit that after the world was treated to the clown show that was supposed to have been a series of serious debates on serious issues – - – the televised circus that ended up being Nine different contenders doing nothing but attacking each other – - – and to the continuing insults against 47% of the American People – - – and the obvious fact that the 1% and their “Candidates” are completely out of touch with America – - – why can’t they just admit that it is not just the “Media and the Polls” causing them fits, but that it is their own inherent inability to come up with original ideas or any form of viable leadership?

The republicans will never admit that their ideology is a bunch of garbage, instead they double down. If Romney does not win, it will be because he wasn’t “conservative enough”. After 8 years of of republican leadership which brought this country to its knees and ran up the debt, well, Bush wasn’t a “true conservative” I would imagaine that if we were to face a president Romney, the rightwing propaganda machine will stop talking about the DEBT as though it is a bomb, soaring through the future ready to explode in our “grandchildrens” laps. Instead they will lay out a buffet of other things we should worry about, and all the “actors” knowing their roles will serve and spoon feed to their listeners what is on the republicans propaganda menu, and the uniformed ignorant masses will open their mouths wide and swallow what’s available. And they will like it.
You know sometimes the media discovers something that a member of the republican party says or does that is so out of the norm that I think to myself that not even the rightwing propaganda machine can explain this away. And sometimes in the beginning, as a group, they are knocked off the feet at first, but then they slowly regain their footing, and,as though they are one mouthpiece they will follow the lead of one rightwing nutjob, all repeat the same twisted viewpoint, sit back and smile the smile of a child who came up with PERFECT EXCUSE as to why they don’t have their homework assignment completed in time, and once more, they fooled the teacher again. And in their little bubble, all is good.
Sorry, you will never see a congress controlled by Democrats treat any president the way this bunch of traitors has treated president Obama.
Democrats respect our country too much for such silly bullshit.
Although my gut feeling sees Obama as President in January 2013,it would be to America’s disadvantage to treat Romney in the same way as the Republicans did. America is at the worse abyss and there is no more time for Democrats or Republicans to stall settling the debt. Nonpartisanship has to be the way forward for either winner because the world will start worrying about our debtload and Standard’s and Poor will reduce our credit rating which will cause us to pay more for our loans which will add to the 16 trillion$.
Democrats have the ideas and the way. Let us put them forward in this election so that people understand what the policies mean. An example is that people are confused about redistribution. Republicans sell the idea that Obama is Robin Hood robbing the rich to give to the poor. The Democrats have to tell americans that redistribution is not taxing the rich so that the federal government can send $5000 to each person in the middle class and the poor so they can put that in the bank. Redistribution and tax reform is to reinforce the programs we have for the unemployed, pay our teaches, strengthen Medicare, retrain americans for new technologies etc……
If we are to go forward, americans have got to vote and give Democrats a majority in both houses. We have to stay on message and what better way than to promote our ideas during the presidential campaigns. I just loved the booing Ryan got from the AARP group recently about repealing OBAMACARE and I truly believe that Obama will get the same ovation when he slams Romney on his policies.

Well put, Robert; we Dems have more class than traitorous Rethuglikans. We put our energy and know-how into making this country better for ALL Americans, not just the 1%!
But I think that the democrats should rethink that. I for one, wouldn’t mind one bit if the dems blocked everything that a president Romney tried to do, and not out of spite, I don’t want my party to have anything to do with bringing this country down to a third world country status. The republicans have gone off the deep end j don’t want my kids to live in their wacked out vision of a loony tune country.
If the crazies grab control in 2012, there may not be anything left but the loony tune country that you envision and I have a sneaking suspicion that Democrats will be forced to become obstructionists if anything is to be saved for future generations. Check out what happened the last time they took control and then remember that this time it will probably be a re-play but on steroids!
“What’s sauce for the Goose is sauce for the Gander”—Mitt Romney, May 31, 2012
“I believe that at this time, to change Washington, it would be helpful to have somebody who comes with more private sector skill, experience OUTSIDE Washington. I don’t think you change Washington from the inside. I think you change it from the outside,”—-Mitt Romney late 2007, running for president
Open your mouth, MittWitt, time to change feet…..Again !!!
Mario…your art is as always really, really good…
We, as a country, should be in… Defending Our Country From Corporate Takeover, mode. I know this is tin foil hat territory…but the evidence is there, shrouded in wingerspeak, lies, sleight of hand. This is shaping up to be a defining moment in our collective history. What will we call this era in the history books?
It will never happen that the Democrats treat the Republicans in the same manner. To do so would be disaster for our country. Republicans know this, which is why they operate with impunity. For the life of me I can’t figure out why whenever any Republican brings up the deficit we don’t respond by quoting Dick Cheney, “Ronald Reagan taught us that deficits don’t matter.” Kill two birds with one stone.
Personally, I would love to give the Republicans a dose of their own medicine, in theory, but know that in practice it would be disaster for us all.
In case no one has noticed, we have a new cadre of radical Republicans whose mantra seems to be, “Our description of Bi-Partisanship is to convince the other side to see things our way.” In fact, there has been a couple of candied-dates for some obscure state offices that have said just that – - – “Compromise” means getting one’s way regardless of the consequences – - no argument, no negotiations – - just a “You capitulate to us or nothing gets done” attitude.
Until we can clean that kind of garbage out of the government all the arguments for bipartisanship in the world will go nowhere and neither will the country!
It might be a disaster if we gave them back what they have given us, but By the Powers that Be, they need something to kick there collective tushes and I don’t think Democrats always have to act like the good guy.
It doesn’t matter really what Democrats want, Repugs are going to stay the course of their obstructionism until we see the day of the return of some of the old Noble ideals of the old order Conservatives and I think that day is a long, long way off. We must remember that their total objective is total control and permanent power in a one party nation – - – they want an Oligarchal Dictatorship and they will settle for nothing less in my opinion.
That is the nature of what we are fighting against.
I don’t have a problem with the obstruction, per se. I wish the Democrats would have done this more in the past. My problem is that the Republicans are against their own proposals. If McCain had been elected in 2008, something very much like Obamacare would have passed congress handily (same with Cap & Trade and many other issues). But because it was a Democrat in the White House, they were against it.
Don’t believe what the Republicans claim they stand for. As far as I can tell, they are for only one thing: power for power’s sake. Remember in 1970 they were the pro-choice party. Why are they now anti-choice? Because their PFPS ideology needs a one-issue constituency that won’t care about their hateful and damaging policies.
Mario,
You underplay and/or overlook the role of the DLC/DINO/Repuke-Lites in the Senate.
History does repeat itself.
Here in the
Mississippi of the MidwestIndiana, we had Eavan ‘DLC/DINO’ Bayh. We now have a thoroughly wacked out teabagger running against a DLC/DINO/Repuke-Lite calling himself a democrat. The ‘democrat’ is running advertisements proclaiming he will fight to protect ALL of Bushes tax cuts. Even with a ‘majority’ of the senate held by nominal democrats, a King Romney would have a senate like Bush did where a ‘gang of eight (or more) would assure that RMoney would get what he has been told by his owners to get.@ Robert
What will we call this era in the history books?
Pre-history?
As our corporate ownership continues to expand their knowledge of how to use the Citizens United Not Timid vs FEC decision, their control will increase exponentially such that I predict that January of 2020 (10th anniversary of CU v FEC) will be when they officially change our country’s name to ‘The United Corporations of ameriKa’.
