Last March, Michael Steele made the following remark when told that Rush Limbaugh was the de facto leader of the Republican party. Right there and then you knew his days as RNC chairman were numbered.
“No he’s not. I’m the de facto leader of the Republican party.”
True leaders should never find need to have to point out to others that they are in charge. Leaders simply lead by way of their words and actions and a strong personality that imposes its will on others. In the case of Steele, both his personality and words have been his downfall.
Yesterday, he once again blasted his Republican critics…
“I tell them to get a life. That’s old Washington, that’s old ways, and I don’t represent that, and that kills them. I’m telling them and I’m looking them in the eye and say I’ve had enough of it. If you don’t want me in the job, fire me. But until then, shut up. Get with the program or get out of the way.”
“All I’m saying is cut it out. If we have party differences that are inside the party, let’s deal with them inside the party. You don’t see the Democrats running around trying to beat up their national chairman or embarrass him.”
Steele is out of there by April…or before. There’s just been too much rancor since he took over the RNC chairmanship. Repubs took their chance with an African-American leader in the aftermath of the Obama victory. It did not work out and somewhere in a back room of the RNC there’s a white guy pumped up, ready and waiting to take over.
See ya, Mikey. You gave it your best shot. .

the repubs experimented with Steele, it didn’t work. He wanted to take them in a direction they just do not want to go. Besides, he says the most inane things….

Doesn’t this sound familiar: “Get with the program or get out of the way.”
Remember this: “You can lead, you can follow or you can get out of the way.”
- Alan Grayson (Stolen by Michael Steele) We can add plagiarist & token GOP man of color to his resume as he gets kicked out.
