John Liming writes on Scott Walker’s Wisconsin win.
___
For some reason there are some news sources out there saying that what happened in Wisconsin with the recall election is going to make the coming Presidential Election a tough battle in some other states.
I have always figured that the 2012 elections are going to be hard fought because (A) The Country seems to be on a Rightward swing again like it was in 2000 and (B) The obstructionist Righties have created enough propaganda and possess enough money to give Democrats a really hard time this go round.
It really shouldn’t be all that complicated as far as I am concerned.
I am pretty well convinced that the Wisconsin “Win” that so many Reichties are bragging about was not so much a political “Victory” as it was a “Successful Purchase.
So, if America is getting ready for another round of Reichtie-Ism like back in 2000 and 2004, then nothing is going to change that and it is bound to happen because it does happen ever so often and then when enough people get trounced because of ill-informed choices at the polls, they run back into the arms of The Democrats again. It goes that way and has gone that way for decades now.
I sometimes think that some Americans must suffer from some mysterious need for self-punishment because every few years they vote as if they desire some more of the kind of pain that accompanies Conservative regimes. (Lost wages, lost benefits, promises of jobs that never materialize, more oppressive laws, more rights disappearing in the name of national security and more foreign wars to look for non existent WMDs or some other such tomfoolery.
If anyone is looking to the false promises of “Gawd’s Own Party” for fresh or workable ideas on how to get the Economy going again, they can more or less forget about it as far as I am concerned. I believe that the unfortunates who follow that path are doing to discover nothing but more of the same old failed policies that started the present downturn in Economics that we all are enjoying so much at this very moment.
I have said it before and I will say it again, “There is no way the Economy is going to get any better by giving Rich People more tax breaks. It hasn’t worked in 60 years and it isn’t about to work now – - – but that seems to be just about all they have to offer, doesn’t it?
And, as was to be expected in my opinion, I am hearing other reports that say that Republicans in states where their anti-union measures failed the last time around are now “Emboldened” to mount fresh efforts at union busting.
To me this says that in states where Reichties were voted down on their union busting the last time, they are going to put the same old crap back onto the ballot and hope that Wisconsin rubs off on enough people that they can succeed in taking away the good pay and benefits of union workers and set them on the path to becoming low-paid serfs to the 1% and have little or no benefits— and maybe, this time around, more of the general population will buy their life-destroying little schemes and they might get what they are after at last.
Yeah! It might work out that way for Reichtie!
It all depends, in my opinion, on how many millions of dollars they are actually willing to spend to buy control of The United States.
One thing is almost assured in my mind and that is this: If and when Reichtie does gain total control over the country, the “People” will soon discover that they are the ones who will be expected to offer their blood, sweat and tears to repay the millions of dollars that bought their precious Freedoms – - – exorbitant taxes and fees will be the order of the day as far as I am concerned if that horror actually happens. Wait and see!
For some strange reason – - – and do not ask me why – - – The Party who claims to want smaller government and lower taxes always manages to build outrageously big governments and to place ever more burdensome taxes on the classes of people who simply cannot afford them – - – subtle little things like more property tax for schools and municipalities and state services and stuff like that – - – things that have already been paid for once and for which the “People” are expected to pay again through new levies to replace funds “Cut” by the budget whackers.
Good question: “When Reichtie makes cuts to programs and budgets, where does the money that is “Saved” go? Has anyone ever wondered about that?
Yeah – - -Wisconsin could signal some really strange and unusual turns of events for Americans in the coming days, months and years. It may actually signal a turn to the Far Far Right that could end up costing all of us dearly.

love this Mario…….takin it to the farm!!!
Great article! Amazing to look at those pie charts and see all of the out of state money that poured in to Walker.
I think Mr. Liming sees what so many of us see – a slow dumbing down of the American voter. Many voters are like sheep led to the slaughter, they go to the polls and vote their own interests away by listening to sound bites that aren’t truthful in the least.
I can assure you of one thing; very shortly before November, some kind of new lie will pop up about Obama. And even though it will prove to be nothing but a lie, it’ll be too late to figure that out for the election. Probably some super pac will make it up, some kind of swift boat crap.
But, this is what Citizens United vs. FEC has done to our campaign system.
To quote Bob Dylan, “money doesn’t talk, it swears.” The Rethugs are always going to have more of it, and that, coupled with their willingness to lie like hell, puts us at a real disadvantage.
Dear St. Stephen:
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate you for taking the time to join in this important conversation.
Let me offer a little comfort here – - – They might have the money and they might have the ability to Revise the facts, but please remember that there is an immutable Universal Law that says that in the end Good always wins.
Remember the walls that seemed to deter Joshua from victory over Jericho?
Those walls were, by all human reasoning, unimpeachably impregnable against assault.
Joshua achieved success in breaching those walls with the simple assistance of an uncomplicated principle of Physics – - – enough vibration applied for long enough time will cause both walls and bridges to collapse into rubble.
I belileve that the cause of compassionate Liberals, Democrats and Progressives are enough aligned with the principles of Love, God, Christianity and all the other positives, that we will ultimately prevail and the walls of obstructionist intransigence will collapse completely and utterly.
Please remember that in our History as a Nation, the People have chosen Democrat Administrations for more times and for longer periods of time than any Conservative Administration and that the good and prosperous times have always been secured by Democrat governance.
The People may get irritated and vote against their own self interests once in awhile, but buyers remorse always restores the Democrats, Liberals and Progressives in the final analysis.
