Will Obama Be Impeached?

.

The New Republic’s Jonathan Chait thinks so.

Hear me now and believe me later: If Republicans win and maintain control of the House of Representatives, they are going to impeach President Obama. They won’t do it right away. And they won’t succeed in removing Obama. (You need 67 Senate votes.) But if Obama wins a second term, the House will vote to impeach him before he leaves office.

Chait might be right on this.  Should Republicans take over the House in November, the wheels of government come to a grinding halt.  They’ll have their sights set on 2012 with a single goal in mind – one which has nothing to do with getting the unemployed back to work or repairing a broken economy.  It’ll be about taking down the President and what better way to do it than to stir up as much mud as they possibly can under the guiding hand of GOP Rep. David Issa who will surely become the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Issa cannot impeach the president by himself. That would take a vote by the House of Representatives. But once a major figure like Issa puts impeachment on the table, it is impossible to imagine the rest of the party failing to go along. A December poll found that 35 percent of Republicans already favor impeaching Obama, with just 48 percent opposed and the balance undecided. That is a large base of support to impeach Obama for literally anything at all.

Once Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge, and the like collectively decide that this or that incident represents an intolerable abuse of power by the Obama administration, the conservative base will go from supporting impeachment to demanding it. At that point, the acquiescence of the House GOP would become inevitable.

And as Chait notes:

Why would Republicans impeach Obama? The better question is, why wouldn’t they?

Because in the conservative view of President Obama, he is…

…a left-wing radical who seized power via an economic crisis, smuggled radical views into the White House, and used unfair tactics to force an unpopular transformative left-wing agenda upon a conservative country.

End of story.

  1. Scott Lynn says:

Shockingly stupid post. I am a Republican, and I strongly disagree with most of Obama’s agenda. I believe his policies are bad for America, small business, and the middle class, and that he is (unintentionally or not) working towards the bankrupting of this country with his out-of-control spending and government takeovers. However, he was clearly legally elected and I cannot think of anything he has done that could be called an impeachable act.

The democrats got elected because my party lost its way and acted like idiots. The Dems have taken that “mandate” as a vote for pro-government, pro-spending, socialist-like reform and the American people are not happy. Now there will be a backlash. It is likely that the Republicans will miss the point too, come to power in the next two years and continue the tradition of lobbyist-driven big-government. I am at the point where I don’t even care about how much we spend on social programs, I just want to see reasonable policies with a balanced budget and a path away from bankrupting the country. Neither party is offering that.

Instead I see politics as usual. An article like this is a fear-mongering article to scare moderates into voting for democrats to avoid the pending Republican impeachment. Your clipart with the elephant has balloons of lies, smear and fear, but you are resorting to two of the three with a stupid article like this.

  2. Bob says:

Oh, and impeaching Bill Clinton worked so well. Why waste time if the Senate won’t go along?

  3. @Scott and Bob. Follow the link in the post to get your answers. Both of you obviously have no idea who David Issa is nor what his stated intentions are. You need to get informed before you mouth off.

  4. Wow We says:

WTF Lets destroy America instead of all if working to make America better.

  5. One Point says:

This would be a compelling argument – - except it’s missing one key point. The President has to break the law.

I know it’s cute and fashionable to put up a blog and pretend the crazy Republicans are coming to eat your babies – - but, never in the history of the country has somebody moved to impeach a President “just cuz.”

…which is what Chiat and (by association of your cut-n-paste) you are suggesting.

This absurdity was talked about with Pres. Bush – and even the dumbest of Democrats knew it wouldn’t fly… so, it never happened.

And it won’t happen here. The “End of story” actually occurred prior to your question mark in your headline.

  6. Tom Dundee says:

I don’t know if Obama should be impeached. We need to learn a few things first.
    1. Produce your birth certificate.
    2. Produce your school papers from Indonesia
    3. Produce your passport for your world tour in the 1980s.
    4. Produce your Selective Service registration.
    5. Produce you college scholarship documents.

Should any of the above indicate he is not an American citizen, he has 15 minutes to vacate the White House because as a anything but a natural born citizen and he is ineligible to hold the office.

Personally I think he is an illegal alien. I believe he was born in Kenya. Had he been born in HI, he would have lost his US citizenship when he moved to Indonesia.

Should more be necessary to remove him from office: Demand he produce a record of the donations to his presidential campaign. Identify the foreign money contributed.
Now he can be arrested and tried as a common criminal because these were felonies committed before he won the election, thereby disqualifing himself. In otherwords, he should have been indicted before he had the nomination.

  7. Hoodat says:

  8. festie says:

i absolutely agree with this, but wasnt clinton impeached? look what good that did. also, for those of you out there that think obama is an idiot, you need to pull your heads out of the sand and quit blindly following the party line. the democrats in washington are not the only culprits in this fiasco were in. it’s every single politician in washington. as long as they can keep living their lavish lifestyles provided by the sweat of the american people without actually being held accountable, america will continue to languish and suffer. career and politician are two words which should never meet in a sentence. i provide the current state of this country as my evidence. very damning as far as i am concerned.
what’s happening now with the ruling elite was the precursor to almost(if not all)every collapse of the major empires in recorded history. the raping and pillaging of the assets of a country/empire by the “leaders” of that country/empire and the fear, apathy and downright stupidity of it’s citizens that let it happen. yes, obama is dangerous man. yes he is a liar. yes he hates this country and everything it stands for. what everyone from the opposition is either to stupid or outright to damn corrupt to admit is, without bush and chaney and all the corrupt politicians from both parties, there never would have been an obama campaign let alone a presidency. wake up people. if you blindy follow someone just because he’s not the other guy then you are just as responsible for that persons actions as they are. what makes you look even dumber is when there is evidence all around(clear evidence)that the person you support doesnt care one iota about you or your family other then to get your backing so they can continue to live their lavish lifestyles while everyone else suffers and a country dies.

  9. Tom Dundee says:

You hit every point in a party line, a party that shall go unnamed at this point. You wasted time writing down unrelated crap and what wasn’t unrelated was just plain wrong.

If you can name one person that has laid out a case like I did, tell me who. Otherwise just shut up. There is no party line with me.

I was onto Obama’s potential citizenship problems well before he had the nomination. Well before it was down to Edwards, Hillary, & Obama.

The first clue was his move to Indonesia. It was only later that the birth issue came to my attention.

Now name one person who has laid out a similar case or shut up.

  10. canadian says:

it’s as if “the people” don’t even matter any more. it’s like a territorial pissing game and the only thing at stake is cushy government jobs. no matter how much republicans complain about “big government” they’ll never get rid of their own jobs or the money that flows into their friends pockets because of those jobs.

it’s also interesting to see that republicans are already planning for 2012 and beyond instead of offering solutions to problems that are happening right now. politicians are all the same, no matter what party: worried more about politics than action.

  11. Tom Dundee says:

Wasn’t Clinton impeached, yes but we were sold out by the Republican leadership. We were also sold out by the Libs who couldn’t see anything wrong with Clinton’s behavior and wanted to put his face on Mount Rushmore. America first. Then decide if you wish to be Dem or Rep or whatever.

Our choice in the past few elections has been the same on.
We’ve had the choice of either the fast track or the slow track to Socialism. The endgame is the same, which is the destruction of the US. The only question is the speed at which it will happen.

  12. Tom Dundee says:

I will be out of town this weekend and my replies will have to wait.

  13. tinkerbell says:

Tom, go easy on the Koolaid while you’re away.

  14. Justin Moore says:

The fact that you don’t agree with the president is not grounds for impeachment. Everyone uses this phrase as a call to action. Fact remains he was elected by a majority of people who voted in the election and confirmed by the electoral college. As much as you don’t like this fact. He is the president.

  15. Tom Dundee says:

Read my comments to address part of you concerns, especially the second.
You have the same brainwashed idea that the Republicans are the rich ones. The money is now with the Dems. 9 of the top 10 richest senators are Dems. See the jobs Obama’s staff held before going to Washington.

There is a large enough Dem majority that allows them to put through any program they wish. The Republicans could not stop them if they want to or would have the guts to do it. When clinch time came, Susan Collins voted to pass health care. A couple more voted to ensure cap and trade.

    Like I said brainwashed recitation.

  16. nanibold says:

Ridiculous. What on earth would they impeach him for? All the complaints they make about Obama, they amount to little more than “we don’t like him or his policies”.

If they were somehow justified in impeaching BO, then pretty much every president who was disliked by their opponents could have been justifiably impeached, as well.

There’s just nothing to this, aside from a bunch of nutjobs being unable to control their anger at a president they despise. They should stuff it. The democrats had to put up with GWB for so many years, and now the republicans have to live with BO. That’s how it’s supposed to work, right? You vote – and if your guy doesn’t get in, then too bad for you. You wait for your chance to vote again.

  17. Justin Moore says:

Bob. Aha, but what you fail to mention is the fact that Bush’s overall budget submitted years gone by included 2.5 trillion in deficit spending whereby his own party had to reduce the budget. Overspending is a way of life in Washington, and republicans do not own the fiscal responsibility trait as 10 trillion dollars had been spend and approved by the house and senate back in 2001-2002 through tax cuts as well as the spending of the social security surplus that the republicans foamed at the mouth to get their hands on.

  18. Proud Liberal says:

Tom has obviously never heard of the filibuster. Like he said, brainwashed recitation.

  19. Sadath Ahmed says:

    Tom Dundee:

Seriously, this whole “Obama wasn’t born here” thing is getting ridiculous. You guys are the new “bush burned down the towers” wackos of the current era

Can you stop and think for a second? Do you know how much security and background checking you have to go through to get a regular federal job? Do you really think they don’t have at least as much security when checking for a presidential candidate?

You guys keep spouting that he needs to show his birth certificate, college degree, passport, etc. except he already DID. And every time he does, the next thing you hear is “it’s not real, where the real one?”. The hawaiian government was the one showing the birth certificate, how much more proof do you need?

If you have a legitimate concern about obama’s policies, that’s understandeable. Doubting his citizenship is just plain 5th grade stupidity

  20. Tom Dundee says:

    Tinkerbell,

Name one person who lays out like a case like I did before you talk about koolaid. Whereas you koolaid comment is standard lib talking points.

  21. Tom Dundee says:

    Nani… ,

Like I said, he if a person doesn’t meet the qualifications as stated in the Constitution you cannot be President. Just because a bunch of elected officials don’t understand that, doesn’t mean it is right.

It’s kind of like that if you are married, you cannot marry a 2d wife or husband. Because you are in a contract (marriage) means that you are not qualified (free) to marry again.

  22. Sadath Ahmed says:

I don’t even know how to respond to that. I just laid out a case. Can you not read?

  23. Tom Dundee says:

    Proud Lib,

I am familiar with the filibuster and its rules. Are you familiar with the cloture rule?
The Republicans have not tried to filibuster anything.

Now, explain the cloture rule before you return.

  24. Granite says:

    3. Produce your passport for your world tour in the 1980s.
    4. Produce your Selective Service registration.
    5. Produce you college scholarship documents.

    Answers:

    1. He HAS produced his birth certificate, the official birth certificate of Hawaii, and that facts on it were confirmed twice by the officials in Hawaii and by the governor of Hawaii. Yes, the Certification of Live Birth is the OFFICIAL birth certificate, used by thousands of people every year.

    2. No president has ever shown school papers. If you are alleging that Obama became a citizen of Indonesia, he didn’t. This can be confirmed by simply calling the Indonesian Embassy in Washington and ASKING. (202) 775 – 5200, and ask for the press officer.)

    3. No president has ever shown a passport. However, we know that Obama had a US passport because that is what he traveled on when he returned from Indonesia to Hawaii to attend high school. If he didn’t have a US passport, he would have needed a US visa on a foreign passport, and the application for one would have been easy to find, if there were one.

    4. No president ever has.
    5. No president ever has.

  25. Tom Dundee says:

    Ahmed,

You are as wrong as one can be.
You don’t spend over $2 million to keep those records sealed if you have nothing to hide. Besides my initial concerns dealt with the move to Indonesia. I have went well beyond the birth certificate issue. Address those as well.

He could save himself a lot of trouble and gain a lot of support by proving he is a US citizen. That would be the smart politics he claims to understand.

  26. PerryE says:

    Canadian:

Completely I agree with you. Too much law and lack of order! Not many politicians which are in a position to make changes in America step up to the plate.

  27. Sadath Ahmed says:

    Tom,

where is your birth certificate? I can’t find it online. Show me your birth certificate

And if you do show me your birth certificate, I want more proof. I want to see your passport, and your social security card, and your baby pictures, and the records that you were born in an American hospital.

If all that is too much of a hassle for you to show someone everytime they ask, then you must not be a US citizen

  28. Tom Dundee says:

    Granite, quite appropriate,

No president has ever had the questions that needed answering before.
The Dems made a run on McCain for being born in a US Navy hospital in the Panama Canal Zone which was under US control at the time. His dad was in the Navy.

He has produced a Certificate of Live Birth, which is issued somewhere that doesn’t issue birth certificates.

HI passed a law that they do not have to honor birth certificate requests.

If there was not something there, people would be in jail for filing frivolous lawsuits. Yet that hasn’t happened. Why.

Soldiers refuse to go to war because they demand to see the paperwork to prove he is fit to be commander-in-chief. They are reassigned, not tossed into Fort Leavenworth for 20 years. Why.

He has produced no documents, so nothing is proven.

Think $2 million spent to keep stuff locked away.

  29. Tom Dundee says:

    Sadith,

I am not the president. I and everyone else has had to show their birth certificate to be hired on any job since the mid 1990s. I am a tax payer, citizen and therefore his boss.

If I was president, I would glady show my stuff. If you were hiring me, I would gladly show my paperwork.

Actually, you can pay me the President’s salary for one year and I will produce my paperwork.

  30. Sadath Ahmed says:

He has produced his birth certificate. Several times:

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthcertificate.asp

And he didn’t pass a law barring anything regarding birth certificates. The State of Hawaii did. Not because they had to hide anything, but because numerous needless requests from the same people for the same birth certificate cost the state a lot of time and money. They made the law to save money, not spend $2 million. Again, you’re making numbers up

And unfortunately, you’re wrong. Repeatedly questioning your president’s citizenship repeatedly is not unlawful, just stupid. You wont get thrown in jail for filing a lawsuit (unless done repeatedly to the point of harassment). Those lawsuits HAVE been thrown out everytime they’ve been brought up though, and by multiple judges

  31. Big Oil Money says:

@Tom, Scott and Bob, what you guys don’t seem to realize is who your getting your “facts” from. Fox News’ second largest shareholder and Rupert Murdoch’s business partner is Saudi Prince Alawaleed Bin Talal (big oil and part of the ruthless Saudi dictatorship) http://blogs.forbes.com/dikentadike/2010/08/24/much-ado-about-alwaleed/
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Waleed_bin_Talal
There are lots and lots of articles out there about those facts, if you choose not to believe the above links.

And behind the Tea Party are propaganda think tanks funded to the tune of millions and millions and millions of dollars by the Koch brothers (Koch Industries-Big Oil).
    http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/08/30/100830fa_fact_mayer

What’s behind all this is a few, beyond ultra greedy, billionaires who want to rape and pillage ALL of the wealth of this country, no matter who it hurts.

And @Tom as far as your “case” goes, President Obama has been in public office since 1997, and has been prominent on the national scene the last 4 years, with lots and lots and lots of people out there who would love to destroy him, and no-one on the right has been able to prove ANY of the points of your “case” before now?

And as far as impeachment goes, it WILL happen just like it did during Clinton. The right-wing propaganda machines (Fox News, et al) will just repeat lies over and over and over and over until people believe them.

  32. Sadath Ahmed says:

This is getting stupid. There’s obviously no amount of proof that will convince you. I’m going to stop responding now

  33. WDRussell says:

It does make sense for the GOP/TeaParty in a completely perverse way.
They have no clue on how to fix anything, so their only hope is to distract people.

  34. Tom Dundee says:

I am glad you are going to stop responding to me because you are repeating yourself and you don’t comprehend what is being said.

I listed 5 documents up there. That is the proof that will satisfy me. I am easy to get along with. How about I compromise and agree that he shows the
    1. passport from the world tour in th ’80s.
    2. his Selective Service registration.

  35. Jimbo2K7 says:

Tommy boy, you and all of your tea bagger buddies are what the powers that be refer to as useful idiots.

You are so willfully ignorant (and dishonest about your raging racism and bigotry) that you will believe any crap they dish out to you, and without you they could not create all of the discontent that we see right now.

You are being robbed blind – jobs are disappearing at an ever increasing rate – republicans are doing absolutely nothing to help and everything to make this worse – billionaires with no allegiance to this country or the middle class are stuffing their pockets and bankrupting everyone else in the process – and the best you can come up with is where is his birth certificate.

Good god man, you are the best of all useful idiots!

  36. Granite says:

Re: “ou don’t spend over $2 million to keep those records sealed if you have nothing to hide. ”

Answer. Obama’s records are not sealed. They are private. However, Obama HAS shown the official birth certificate of Hawaii, and the officials in Hawaii have confirmed the facts on it twice.

It is a myth that Obama spent “$2 million’ or any amount on hiding his birth certificate. There was never a lawsuit just for his birth certificate. The money spent was mainly fighting lawsuits that tried to stop the election, stop the Electoral College from voting, stop the congress from certifying the election (which it did, UNANIMOUSLY), or to stop the election.

    The Wall Street Journal said:

“The birthers have also misrepresented the law in the claims they have made about Obama’s birth certificate. In truth, Obama has proved that he is a native of Hawaii, and this proof would hold up in any legal or administrative proceeding.

In order to explain the birthers’ deception on this point, it is necessary to delve into the arcana of Hawaiian vital records. The document that Obama has released, which carries the title “certification of live birth,” confirms that the president was born in Honolulu. It is a legal birth certificate, and, as the Honolulu Star-Bulletin notes, it is the only kind of birth certificate the state of Hawaii issues.

…If a court were somehow to take up the question of Obama’s eligibility, then, the birth certificate would almost certainly be sufficient to resolve the question in his favor. The opposing side would have to provide serious evidence calling into question the veracity of Hawaii’s official state records. Innuendo and hearsay would not be admissible.”

Further, if Congress were to pass the so-called birther bill, Obama would be able to comply easily. The bill would require presidential campaigns to submit “a copy of the candidate’s birth certificate” to the Federal Election Commission. The certificate Obama has released publicly would meet this requirement.

  37. Granite says:

Re: “1. passport from the world tour in th ’80s. 2. his Selective Service registration.”

Since no president has ever shown these, why should Obama?

  38. Granite says:

Re: “I and everyone else has had to show their birth certificate to be hired on any job since the mid 1990s.”

Answer. Obama HAS shown his birth certificate, the official birth certificate of Hawaii. And it is the ONLY birth certificate that Hawaii has sent out since it became the official birth certificate in 2001.

  39. Jon says:

    @mario piperni:

You need to post better writings before you criticize other people. You are the reason the Republican party looks bad. Can you tell us what laws he has broken to warrant an impeachment? You would think if it was so clear, cut, and dry that you would have put it in your article in bold text with dancing elephants around it.

And yes, I am a republican, but I think we should focus on more important things than wasting time impeaching someone that won’t actually be removed from office.

  40. Grindstone says:

    Tom Dundee,

Your weak and poorly constructed argument boils down to one thing.

    We have to satisfy you.

It’s not going to be possible to satisfy you. You’re going to spin whatever you hear into another argument as to how Obama can’t possibly be a legally elected President. You’re not interested in hearing logic, or facts or anything to do with reality.

It’s people like you, (And by People, I mean idiots…) that are derailing the republican party. Your arguments are so whacked out, I have to suspect that you’re a Democratic plant somehow.

I’m going to have to ask you to produce your Birth Certificate, your school records, your passport, social insurance number, fingerprints and work records as soon as possible. I’m also going to need you to produce any and all bank records so that we can see if you are truly a misguided idiot or are actually a democratic plant.

And before you start blathering about how you don’t have to produce any of that information to anyone, let alone someone on the internet, please be aware that this is pretty much exactly what you are demanding that President Obama do for you.

Does this while thing seem sarcastic? Good.

We republicans are turning into an extremist party filled with gun loving, uneducated morons that equate threatening our sitting president with patriotism.

This isn’t how we introduce change. This isn’t good politics. This isn’t being a good American and it isn’t helpful when we have a country that is teetering on the brink of ruin.

I’m challenging you to be more Tom. Are you capable of being more? Or are you just another crazy guy with a tin foil hat and a sign that screams ‘THE SKY IS FALLING!’

  41. Len says:

Tom, you are one brainwashed idiot. You have absolutely zero proof of your claim that Obama was not born in the US, and you are repeating tired old arguments that have been debunked countless times. You FAIL!

  42. nanibold says:

It’s unfortunate, you know… my philosophy and perspective is FAR closer to the republican side than it is to the democrat side – but I reject the republican party because they really come across like a bunch of idiots. Prominent republican leaders and their supporters alike seem to have a total inability to argue things in a straightforward and/or rational way. Instead they simply pick up some insane, impotent point or another and repeat it endlessly.

They also appear to hold beliefs and attitudes that most of the civilized world finds disgusting, including myself. Undercurrents of racism, blind hatred and fear of muslims, blatant homophobia, threats of violence, intense christian fundamentalism, constant invocations of the boogeyman (commies, terrorists, whatever)… it’s all so… gross.

What I would give to see the republican party truly stand up for the respectable conservative ideals… fiscal responsibility and individual freedom. Instead we see them talk loudly about these things, all the while spending amazing amounts of money killing people in the middle east, prosecuting americans for victimless crimes like prostitution and pot-smoking, pushing to reverse the separation of church and state, denying marriage rights to gays, and backing fools like Palin and Bush who display no intelligence, no tact, and zero curiosity about foreign policy. I really don’t know what that party is doing.

You can either get serious and have a real debate with people you don’t agree with… or you can try to claim that BO is Hitler because he pushed for health care reform. One is politics, and the other is schoolyard nonsense.

Reminds me of the endless bellyaching about BO’s farking birth certificate. Republicans’ time/effort would be better spent coming up with convincing, sensible arguments about public policy. I’d be listening for sure.

  43. anon says:

It is funny to see this partisanship amongst ordinary citizens. Bush and Obama are nearly indistinguishable in nearly 100% of their policies. The democrats and republicans in congress are both pro-corporate, anti human faithful servants to the monied class, a few differences, but not enough to really care too much either way.

If you care about America, any vote for a democrat or republican is a spoiler vote. Folks need to bring in people who are not beholding to the rich / corporate class if there is every going to be any positive change in this country. Vote for that independant, Libertarian, Green, Peace and Freedom candidate instead of throwing away your vote on more of the same. All of the 3rd parties listed have stated platforms of restoring the rights and civil liberties (for humans) that have been steadily eroded by the Republicans and Democrats.

  44. Isaac Hartman says:

Wow! Tom Dundee sure has logged a lot of minutes on this site. Go for a walk outside and get some air.

  45. Eric says:

Will the GOP stop screwing up the American people with fake paradigms ?…

  46. Konic says:

What are they going to impeach him for? For Clinton, they actually had an offense that, although debatable as it might be, could be cause for impeachment.

What the hell has Obama done? HCR is exactly what he campaigned on. So is financial reform.

Really, can someone explain this to me, without invoking the constitution, as really, the commerce clause really gives the Feds a lot of maneuvering space.

  47. Mark says:

He’s black, and a secret muslim. Do they really need any more of a reason? Have you not been paying attention to the sheer stupidity of the people behind a movement like this?

  48. david d. says:

“I have to suspect that you’re a Democratic plant somehow. ”

Wow…umm, that doesn’t happen. Republicans are the party of dirty tricks. When someone tried to give Gore info on Bush’s debate strategy he TURNED THEM IN. When a Democrat in Michigan tried to run fake tea party candidates, he was fired. When a Republican did it, he BRAGGED ABOUT TO THE NYT’s and kept his job. Bush won against McCain in N. Carolina via racist fliers. Republican’s can only win by cheating, smearing, and raising the level of ignorance. The era of good Republican’s is long gone. Too many current basic premises they know to be false (see gov’t spending, which sorry, works). Until they learn to behave like adults, they will hold America back. I wish Democrats had a backbone and Republican’s had modesty, scruples and reason. Republicans today are like last Century’s Communist: One party in power and following the Little Red Book even when reality shows it to be false. Only this time is the Little Red Book of Reagan and unsupervised free markets. Boy, that worked well didn’t it? Bp disaster, Lehman Bros, 1 million Iraqi refugees, Mcdonald’s cheap and fresh food expensive, etc. etc.

  49. Jay says:

I can never grasp how godawfully dumb conservabots are.

You keep raving and ranting about goddamn birth certificates as if it’s fucking important.

Obama put a goddamn limit on outrageous banker bonuses and gave you a modern health care system, which the rest of the world already has.

Thanks to bible thumping hill billy bastards such as tom dundee, the US has remained stagnant where the rest of the world progressed.

The US is one backwards piece of shit country.

  50. Tom Dundee says:

    Big Oil,

I was ahead of FOX News on this.

  51. Tom Dundee says:

    Jay,

I haven’t been to church in over 30 years, so STFU.

  52. Big Oil Money says:

But Tom you missed my point, the Koch Bro’s/Family, et al [oil companies, Halliburton (Dick Cheney), the Carlyle Group (the Bush Family and the Bin Ladens) etc. etc.] with billions and billions and billions to play with, and who have been in business with Muslim dictatorships for decades and decades, and who have poured tons and tons of money into propaganda think tanks since the early 70′s, (during Nixon, the Southern Strategy) to make up stuff just like you’re talking about, and who have a huge stake in huge huge huge profits, I.E. hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars…..

Doesn’t it make soooo much more sense that maybe, just maybe, they just made up all that, because some of the policies of President Obama, et al. might interfere with said profits???

That’s ALL Karl Rove’s, et al, ENTIRE career(s) has been about, making up stories/lies and destroying anybody who gets in the way.

  53. Tom Dundee says:

    Big Oil.
You are the ones with the stories, Rove could learn to spin yarns from you. Yout toss out imaginary groups and attach real live people to them. Even the Grimm Brothers or JK Rowling could learn from you.

5 rich TX oilmen began Halliburton. LBJ and 4 or his friends. LBJ’s widow was the major stockholder when she died and her shares were divided between their 2 very Democrat daughters.

  54. Tom Dundee says:

    Jimbo2Ky jelly,

Jobs began disappearing in the 1960s. You are either eligible for the job or you are not.
Obama’s getting rich from all the groups that you say are against him.
There is a reason Obama collected over $850 million in campaign donations to buy the presidency.

  55. Tom Dundee says:

    Granite,

No president has never been a citizen before.
Let’s see the paperwork and silence the critics.

  56. Tom Dundee says:

    Granite,

There were no suits to stop the election. None what so ever.

  57. Big Oil Money says:

    Dear Tom
Obviously you don’t care about actual facts because they would interfere with what you would like to believe. So I know you won’t look any these up, but as I mentioned above there are lots and lots and lots of articles out there that, beyond a reasonable doubt, prove ALL that I’ve written.
What about the stuff you write?????

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halliburton

    http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlyle_Group

    http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/08/30/100830fa_fact_mayer

  58. Tom Dundee says:

Those facts are nice and some may be true. Some maybe correctly applied but it is all unrelated to the discussion at hand.
You want to discuss them, fine; post your own question.

If those groups exist, Obama is part of them like the Council of Foreign Relations. All the more reason to get a real American in the Oval Office instead of a corportate tool.

    Let’s see the paperwork.

  59. Big Oil Money says:

Where on Earth do you get that Obama is part of them????????

And like I said, I knew you wouldn’t look any of that up it interferes with your fantasy world.

  60. Big Oil Money says:

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is an American nonprofit nonpartisan membership organization, publisher, and thinktank specializing in U.S. foreign policy and international affairs. Founded in 1921.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_on_Foreign_Relations

    http://www.cfr.org/

And While you’re at why not look up some of the other organizations that have been demonized by corporate/right-wing propaganda, because they interfere with the PROFITS of a few.

  61. Big Oil Money says:

And speaking of corporate tools, look this up:

Citizens United: a Supreme Court decision, by a majority of the 5 Republican Justices, appointed by Reagan and the Bush’s, holding that corporations can now give UNLIMITED amounts to our elections.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_United_v._Federal_Election_Commission

  62. Tom Dundee says:

    Citizenship is the issue.

There are RINO justices who only vote for the most lib positions.

    defund those groups.

  63. Tom Dundee says:

Citizenship. Without a real American President we will never work our way out of this.

Obama does not raise $850 million without support of the big money folks and he is one of them.

  64. Big Oil Money says:

Tommy where do you get these “facts” ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? And/or conspiracy theories ???????????????????? Nothing you write about has ANY merit/truth what-so-ever…… NONE, NADA, ZIP….

9 Supreme Court Justices, 5 Repubs, appointed by Reagan and the 2 Bush’s, decided FOR Citizens United. The 4 Dem/”Lib” Justices decided against Citizens United.

Repubs are currently spending 7 times as much on the 2010 election as Dems. Mostly from big oil, insurance companies etc etc.

You’re just another clueless rationalizing TROLL, dude, there’s always one or two just like you out there on similar sites.

  65. Tom Dundee says:

Obama was the top BP recipient during 2008.

You are the one ignoring the topic at hand. You want to talk about anything but citizenship.

Write your own question to discuss the gargabe you keep posting.

  66. Tom Dundee says:

    Hi Festering

The US Constitution forms the basis for all laws written in the US and without it we beome a 3d world cesspool which is the goal of many of you here.

If we allow this portion of the Consitution to go by the wayside, which part goes next? Or you just allow the UN to take over?

Obama was clear about his polices duing the campaign and he is following through as he said which is to ‘fundamentally transform the US’. When this transformation is complete we will no longer be the USA.

Many of his policies are unconstitutional, but what difference does that make when he has met the Constitutional requirements for the job. Does 2 wrongs make a right? I think not.
