The Epitome of A Modern Republican

Posted by mario piperni On July - 29 - 2010

For all the criticism I direct toward Republicans, I fail to note the high caliber of candidates this party attracts.  Let me fix that immediately.  I give you Mr. Basil Marceaux.

.

.

Here’s hoping this guy fails in his election bid and decides to run for President in 2012.  I can’t imagine anyone who betters typifies the intellectual prowess of Republicans than Mr. Marceaux.

Best of luck to you, Basil.  I love your thoughts on gun permits, traffic stops and French flags.   Brilliant.

And hey, very cool website.

The web site of his son, who is running for “TENN. STATE HOUSE REPRESENTITIVE” is equally wonderful!

    http://politics.freesitenow.com/basilmarceauxjr/

Wonder if after he wins he’ll learn how to spell “representative”? Sssshhh! Don’t tell him and let’s see?

  2. Rhena says:

Maybe a few courses in grammar, punctuation, and capitalization also. Just freaking, WOW. But this is the true representation of the right wing/ tea party participants. They like the uneducated ignorant politicians because it makes them feel smart. LMAO

  3. dinko says:

The son is a bigger winner than his father.

“Some of his favorites are: food-steak and watermelon, color-blue, music-rocknroll. Basil Jr. is a very big animal lover (can’t even stand to see an insect hurt).”

  4. CharlieSommers says:

My God … If he won I would have to follow Rush Limbaugh to Costa Rica.

Actually I would like to see him win the republican nomination as it would assure that Mike McWherter would be a shoo-in for governor of the state of Tennessee. Now if you will excuse me I am going to prepare some french fries for lunch.

Another quick question before I go, since we have a gubernatorial election why don’t we have a gubernor rather than a governor?

  5. Jo Dean says:

LOL, that pompous windbag just looks corrupt as the day is long.

  6. Lucy says:

This is so ridiculous to compare this loser to an average Republican. His name doesn’t even come up on the political polls. I don’t live in TN but this is a waste of time. Don’t you have anything productive to do?

  7. charlie says:

This guy looks like the alien in men in black 1. It is starting. The alien invasion.

  8. Will he be any more honest than other Republicans? Will he claim to know how to fix an economy trashed by republicans?

Does he even know Republicans are famous for NOT fixing our economic problems?

  9. Your Mom says:

Meanwhile, the effete and intellectual Democrats manage to actually nominate a mouth-breather so ridiculous that they speculate that he’s a plant, and that somehow those Snidely Whiplash Republicans snookered 60% of the Democrats into voting for him.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/11/alvin-greene-south-caroli_n_608647.html

Odd how the double-standard bites liberals in the arse so often. You make fun of an idiot running for office, and at the same time you try to ignore the idiot you NOMINATED for office.

Keep trying. You’ll get it some day.

  10. Rabideux says:

Which Walmart is this charming man with the French last name working at as a greater?

  11. Quinn says:

I think this is a low blow to describe this man as the “epitome of a modern republican”. Judging from his website and video, it would appear he suffers from learning disabilities. Have a little sympathy but if you want to make such a sweeping generalization, you have Palin, Jindal, Sanford, etc.

  12. Denny Smith says:

    This is a joke, right?

  13. Gregg says:

Don’t try to associate Right Wing and the Tea Party… Spend some time at a tea party and you’ll see it’s not partisan at all.

Also, make fun of this guy all you want, but realize that every party has some less-than-stellar candidates.

  14. Hopefully this gentleman does not win. Taken directly from his website:

“VOTE FOR ME AND IF I WIN I WILL IMMUNE YOU FROM ALL STATE CRIMES FOR THE REST OF YOU LIFE! (Except violating a citizen rights this would be a special punishment ) Making Tennessee the first state in the United States to actually listen to the U.S.and state Constitution ,and all cities charters”

    REALLY?

    -SAM EDAY

  15. Arthur L. says:

You have to be kidding Gregg. The tea party IS the Republican party!

  16. Gregg says:

No way Arthur, the R’s tried to claim the Tea Party but the Tea Party won’t accept it. Again, go to a Tea Party Rally, see who truly does show up. All this media crap about racists and elitist is not true. If the people who slam the Tea Party would spend some time at one, they would see how inclusive the movement is. I have met people from all over the political spectrum at these rallies, it isn’t about right or left, it’s about the taxpayers.

  17. Arthur L. says:

Gregg, if what you say was true, then what are they complaining about? Taxes have been lowered under Obama and will be reduced further next year. Unless you tell me that all of these people earn more than $250K, then you are mistaken.

If their complaint is about government spending and if they are as you say nonpartisan, where were they from 2001 to 2008 when President Bush doubled the debt? Why were they not holding tea party rallies back then?

  18. John says:

How about this for Democratic idiocy.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HzQ59rLm6U

And this guy actually WON the nomination for the Democratic Party. Unbelievable.

  19. Ben says:

Hahaha! That dude is hilarious. I’m pretty sure he said “gold-fringed flags,” though, nothing about french flags.

  20. rupe says:

lol. If he’s so against Frenchies, he should change his last name!

  21. Goldbricker says:

    Palin/Marceaux 2012

  22. Another uneducated poster who does know know fact from fiction.

Referring to Alvin Green: “Democrats manage to actually nominate a mouth-breather…”

The Party did NOT “nominate him”…he paid the necessary fee to be placed on the ballot.

Did you read the wording of that HuffPost article.

“…upset winner of South Carolina’s Democratic Senate Primary…” pretty much explains it. Dems picked someone else but Green won.

You could do the same thing. Has nothing to do with being “nominated” by the party. If he wins the primary then the party pretty much has to back him as he would be the only candidate running as a Democrat. This is obviously a right wing poster because the first thing he does is toss out a derogatory slur calling him a “mouth breather”.

  23. Gregg says:

The taxing is only half of the problem… the other half is the spending, the increase in debt. Projects like ObamaCare are not going to help our debt problem.

In my opinion I think that the Tea Party wasn’t around when Bush was in office because we hadn’t reached a tipping point yet. In dire times people band together and it took until recently for people to see how bad the debt has gotten. But again don’t try to say it’s because a D was in power because there are a lot of tea party supporters that voted for Obama.

  24. Gregg says:

    @Goldbricker, that is freakin’ hilarious!!!!

  25. Gregg: Facts outweigh fiction and even the CBO said the health care reforms will lower the deficit.

Also it is Dems who bring better economies, not Republicans. The facts are easy to find for anyone with access to Google. I saved many the trouble but everyone should feel free to do your own searching.

“Offsetting provisions would reduce deficits by $143 billion in the first 10 years and by more than $1 trillion in the following decade.” ~CNN/Money

    http://joethevoter.org/dems-better-at-economy.html

  26. Gregg says:

Hold on there Big J, how is creating more than 100 new publicly (taxpayer) funded bureaucratic boards (ObamaCare) going to lower the deficit? Every time the government creates a new service it costs money. I don’t like making sweeping statements, but Dems generally like the idea of Government running everything. Gov’t was not made to be efficient, so why should we expect them to be?

I do agree that Clinton did some great things for our financial state. Here comes the but… it’s less about R or D, but more about the individuals economic ideals (Hayek vs. Keynes). Presidents throughout history have adopted a mix of these ideals regardless of which side of the aisle they are on. But I do think you should look a little farther back than just the last few presidents to get a good idea of who has done better things for our economic situation.

  27. Bolton says:

Seriously looks like trouble. A whiskey swillin’ cigarette smokin hunk-o-trouble. He even tried to ban smokeless cigarettes in his district

  28. Rank Limmee says:

Did anyone truly understand what the hell he said?
    Wow.
    I’m dumbfounded.
    He’s dumb.

  29. Matt says:

    Gregg,
The health care bill you call Obamacare will actually save money for the federal government. Contrary to your belief, it is a positive for the federal deficit, b/c it removes the govt. even more from the medical system, instead mandating that citizens buy private coverage. The problem w/ “Obamacare” isn’t that it costs more in taxes. The problem is that it amounts to a giveaway to the insurance industry. We are now a captive market, forced to purchase a shitty product, and without even an option at a public run system. My suspicion is that the insurance companies will continue to inflate prices and lower services to fatten profit margins even more. We already have the most expensive, least effectual health care in the developed world. This will continue that trend…just not on federal budget books.

  30. Gregg says:

Please explain how ObamaCare is going to remove the gov’t even more from the medical system? ObamaCare is the health care every citizen is forced to buy from the gov’t taking place in 2014… and it’s expensive. Even if you can’t afford it, you still get covered, but someone has to pay for it. It cost taxpayers more money and the gov’t is very much involved.

Check out some of the other countries that have forced public health care. Take a look at Canada.

I am in favor of options. I say, yes, have a public option, just don’t make it the only option. We also need to open up the state by state boundaries when it comes to purchasing health insurance. Let health insurance companies compete against each other nationally. Competition breeds excellence.

  31. Craig says:

    “Competition breeds excellence.”

It seemed to work well with the banks!

  32. Belle says:

Wow Gregg. It is frightening how misinformed you are on the health care bill or Obamacare as you prefer calling it. I’m not going to bother setting you straight but I hope someone posts a link on exactly what the health care bill spells out. My advice to you is to stop listening to whomever you’re getting your information from. Look it up for yourself if you really care. If not, then don’t pretend you’re informed. You really are not.

  33. Your Mom says:

Why should we bother reading the health care bill? Nobody who voted on it did!

Joe the Voter: You’re going to have to read more sources than this blog and the Huff Post. They don’t follow up on things that make them look bad. Alvin Greene won the Democrat primary with 59% of the vote. He IS the Democrat candidate.

I’m hoping his action figures are out by Christmas. I want to get the one of him in his suit.

  34. Charlie says:

Wow. I mean wow. I am a republican and I mean wow. But in all fairness, I would hope no one judges the ideas of party on a crazy guy. I mean, I don’t judge democrats on thier fringe elements. Calling this guy a modern republican is like calling Hugo Chavez a modern democrat. There are very basic shared ideas there, but the execution is bat shit f-ing insane.

  35. Gregg: Again you lack knowledge and keep talking anyway.

“…remove the gov’t even more from the medical system? ObamaCare is the health care every citizen is forced to buy from the gov’t…”

First: we do not have a “health care system” other than Medicaid and Veterans Hospitals. We have an insurance system.

Second: You don’t buy health insurance from the government. They don’t sell health insurance. Private companies sell it. And by the way…that provision was put in to appease Republicans, to make sure their buddies in the insurance system were handed a guaranteed 30 million new paying customers.

The new law means those insurance companies cannot refuse you insurance because of pre-existing conditions or drop you because you get sick. They are regulations on the insurance industry and do not create any new “heath care system”.

  36. Gregg said: “Tea Party Rally, see who truly does show up. All this media crap about racists and elitist is not true”

I do not disagree with many Tea Party concerns. I also agree that trying to paint every TP as racists is not fair. But Gregg has not been to all of them and some which have been caught on tape have shown some pretty loud racist elements in the crowd. This is not the same thing as saying the movement is racist, but it does indicate that at these rally’s they don’t do much to remove that element which is becoming the basis for the racist tag being applied to them.

In order to stop the unfair branding these rally’s need to clean up those who are promoting a bad image.

  37. Charlie says: “…I would hope no one judges the ideas of party on a crazy guy”

Right on Charlie. The parties on both sides cannot control who decided to run for election. In many cases nut-jobs on both sides come out of the wood work and pay the fee to get their name on the ballot. The parties have nothing to do with this. If one of these kooks wins a primary, the party is pretty much stuck with them. It is the will of the voter, not the party. It does not amount to party nomination as some have suggested when referring to Alvin Green. He was not nominated by anyone but the voters. But that is the way the system works.

That said, once on the ballot in the fall each party will support the candidate chosen by the people to represent that party.

  38. Gregg: “I am in favor of options. I say, yes, have a public option, just don’t make it the only option. We also need to open up the state by state boundaries when it comes to purchasing health insurance. Let health insurance companies compete against each other nationally.”

Canadians would not change their health care…neither would most Europeans. It removes a lot of stress knowing that if you are sick or injured you can go get help, no questions asked. Medications, one price for anything you need. Very quick times to be seen, contrary to false propaganda used here in the US. In England the doctors work for the system…and are very well paid and are happy with their status.

In Switzerland they have options…200+ private insurance companies compete for customers even though the premiums are set every year and are the same for all companies. The conservative government was asked if they would change their health care system and they made it clear, “…the people would hang us if we tried. We are very happy with it.” ( Documentary on Health care last year )

  39. Tim the Independant says:

It’s so easy finding people from ANY party that don’t represent their segment of the political spectrum at its best. At best this is a cheap shot using some nit as the foil for your sardonic humor. Let’s, as a society, quit pointing at the fringe elements (like this guy or the Senatorial candidate from SC) and start working on fixing our issues. So many people waste so mush time and energy pointing fingers, it’s no wonder we’ve gotten ourselves into this mess.

  40. Berry says:

OK, I’m callin it…BULLSHIT there’s no way this clown id for real.
