From Glenn Church over at Foolocracy comes this bit of nuttiness.
This November, Oklahoma voter will have a chance to decide on one of the pressing matters of the time – should Oklahoma ban sharia law?
Of all places in the United States, Oklahoma is one of the last that someone would expect sharia law. That is why the sponsor of the bill, Rex Duncan said, “I would describe this as a pre-emptive strike. We don’t want to let it get a toe-hold.”
[...]
…people like Duncan are playing to the lowest fears of people who think that radical Muslims and international socialists are going to take over the American judicial system.
Race-baiting, fear-mongering Republicans are getting more insane and desperate by the day. These people have really lost it.

well it is a conservative state and Sharia law is really the islamic version of what the Con Jobs want here,
they know what they are doing it is not about whether Republicans are idiots it is more about distracting voters from the issues, if you can distract voters they will forget that Bush ran up trillions in debt, watched our manufacturing base further erode, told workers they have to accept less so the executives can have more, it why they push the Tea Party movement and call themselves conservatives, it is a rebranding effort.
And female genital circumcision. There’s no way they should have laws against that in the US. It’s a cultural norm that is going to grow in popularity here. We need to facilitate their settlement here as much as possible. We need to learn to accommodate them better.
No sense of irony that if the law banned bibles from the court room you’d be cheering? No sense of self disappointment at your total lack of consistency?
christian+conservative is offensive to you. Alter either of those and they’re suddenly acceptable?
e.g. conservative Muslim (and everything that implies): victim of Christian bigotry
liberal christian: victim of conservative oppression
conservative atheist: rarer than unicorns
etc
Dale Folts: and what we really need is a really great statist, centralist, progressive, liberal, atheist system where Man’s potential can really be fulfilled. If only there were some examples of that. If only. hmmmmm
Alas, another attempt by Oklahoma right wingers to incite fear in the hearts of the uneducated masses–an attempt at making voters think this is actually happening and a threat to their lifestyle. A threat to people here who scream from their trailers that Obama is a socialist and yet, have no idea what the actual meaning of the word socialist is. The ones that have NO education on any of the issues facing them personally but are voting republican because “that there Obama is for abortions and wants to take our guns away”. The crime here is that Oklahoma Republicans KNOW their base. They know how to incite fear and hatred. They know how to bring them out to the polls. Yes, just another sad attempt at making voters think this is actually happening and a threat to their lifestyle. It will work perfectly here.
Reminds me of taking guns to church in Texas and Louisiana. Absolutely unnecessary.
