Repubs Play Politics With Terrorism

.

The hypocrisy at times is just so over-the-top, it’s hard to formulate a coherent response.

Cheney on the attempted bombing of Flight 253.

“As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of 9/11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war.

[...]

“President Obama’s first object and his highest responsibility must be to defend us against an enemy that knows we are at war.”

Republic Rep. Pete Hoekstra is milking the issue as much as he could and is even raising money over it.

“They just don’t get it,” Hoekstra, the ranking Republican on the House intelligence committee, wrote in a fundraising letter to supporters. “These are the same weak-kneed liberals who have recently tried to bring Guantanamo Bay terrorists right here to Michigan!”

More from Hoekstra…

President obama “needs to explain” the decision “to stay silent for 72 hours,”

Rep. Peter King expressed the same sentiment in that he is…

“disappointed it’s taken the president 72 hours to even address this issue.”

Senator Jim DeMint…

[America] “at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe.”

Really. President Obama stayed on vacation in Hawaii and spoke out on the attempted bombing three days later.  In 2001, President Bush stayed on vacation and spoke out only six days later in regards to the attempted shoe-bombing by Richard Reid.  The two attempted acts of terrorism are remarkably similar and yet no one complained about Bush’s lack of urgency back then.  Somehow, conservatives feel justified in denouncing Obama as weak on terrorism and we’re supposed to take these phony hypocrites seriously?

These assclowns are getting really tiring.

  1. Lancaster says:

Richard Reid was tried in a civilian court and was found guilty. He is serving a life sentence. If the system worked then, why not now? Republican assclowns is right.

  2. janine says:

The Repubs main mission since Obama was elected is to kitchen sink talk about everything and anything in this Administration, undermine everything the dems say and lie lie lie……

as someone else so wisely said. I”‘m so tired of our culture giving time and attention to people I was told to never be like when I was a child” Yes and so am I

  3. defolts says:

In addition to the above mentioning of Rich Reid it might also be pointed out that the republicans say we are at war, and what did they say about criticizing the president in a time of war? isn’t that giving aid and comfort to the enemy? Dick Cheney of all people… this same freak claims that by closing Gitmo we are releasing terrorists, could it be there is somewhere else to lock them up?

  4. Jovial says:

    Defolts,

Let’s put them in Cheney’s back yard and see how brave he is without Halliburton’s war machines and armaments.
