Do you think the health care reform plan being considered by President Obama and Congress creates “death panels” which have the authority to subjectively determine whether or not a gravely ill or injured person should receive health care based on their “level of productivity in society”?
Republicans responded…
Yes: 26
No: 43
Not sure: 31
Is anyone surprised as to why the health care debate has turned into a total farce when 57% of Republicans either believe or are unsure as to whether death panels are to be a part of the H/C plan? I have no doubt that the numbers would be as high if people were asked about whether Obama wanted to euthanize seniors.
Republicans and conservatives are playing an ugly and destructive game with health care at a time when few doubt that reform is required and many are suffering. They really don’t give a damn.

Mario, I agree with you that this is bad. Now my question. Would it help if we all went to places like retirement villages and nursing homes and also wrote to AARP to please include an article in their next newsletter debunking this idea? Perhaps if we focused not only on contacting legislators but also on contacting senior citizens in a friendly way and calm their fears, this might not be such a big thing. Just an idea! I always like looking at solutions not just complaining about situations. What do you think of this idea?
You’re right @Melody. Solutions are better than complaining. That’s why I’m tearing up my AARP card and mailing it back to them. Interesting how an administration elected on the promise of removing the influence of lobbyists, is using a lobbying group to advance their agenda.
You do have a point if AARP is a lobby group for the Democrats. If AARP likes it,maybe their seniors/members ike it ! But show me that companies or govt are behind AARP and I will be the first to bow. But if AARP do represent the people, then mailing back your card means that you’re for the corporations which is not new to us.
