Romney – Raw and Unplugged

The Republican Bubble - mariopiperni.com/

Are you a Barack Obama supporter? Well, check out below what Mitt Romney thinks of you. The words were spoken at a fundraiser earlier this year. Mother Jones obtained a tape of Romney’s Q&A session with a group of wealthy donors.

Here’s Romney responding to a question on how he can defeat Barack Obama.

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.

My job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.

Talk about contempt. The assumption that anyone not earning enough to pay federal taxes must be a free-loading liberal, is another example of right-wing insanity. Apparently, inside the bubble there are no struggling conservatives…nor are there people who have worked hard their entire lives but find themselves struggling to make ends meet during difficult economic times…and Romney feels it’s not the job of president to “worry about these people.”

I’ll let an MJ reader respond.

I just wanted to chime in, as one of the 47 percent.  I don’t pay income taxes.  I have several dependents, a home mortgage deduction, and I just started a small business that is doing well.  My taxable income is still quite small, and with my deductions and credits, I pay nothing in income taxes.  I do pay property taxes, sales taxes, medicare and social security taxes, and all the fees that are actually taxes.  I am not a free loader, I am a job creator, even if it is just my job.

In short, I would just like to say to Mitt Romney, you are a piece of lying filth, and I hope you get a terrible case of itching crotch rot.

Here’s one of the videos of Romney speaking at the fundraiser. Check out David Corn’s piece for more.

  1. DGarr says:

It is going to be more than that 47% of Americans who vote against you, Mr. Romney.
We don’t want to see you anywhere NEAR the White House.
You are not only cynical and vacant, you are frightening.

  2. E.A. Blair says:

If I had no other reason for voting to re-elect President Obama, it would be for the sheer spectacle of the brains of Coulter, Limbaugh, Malkin, Norquist, Hannity, Palin, et.al. turning to Jell-O ® in a collective fit of apoplexy on 7 November. After eight years of Cheney/Bush, I am entitled to that.

  3. Janine Ward says:

    via Facebook:

    let’s pop that bubble!

  4. cathy says:

This has to put an end to any chance Romney had of winning this thing. When a candidate says that it’s not within his responsibility to be concerned about HALF OF THE POPULATION, it discounts him from every being president.

  5. Karen Weston says:

Mitt’s like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz — he’s just a machine without a heart. On second thought, after hearing a few of his quotes recently, he’s a lot like the Scarecrow, too!!

  6. E.A. Blair says:

    @Karen –

He’s also like the lion, spending the Vietnam years in France.

(I was going to say something really, really nasty about Paul Ryan, but decided not to.)

  7. Cheryl says:

This includes those “parasites” living on social security and those in the military. I just don’t understand those that are voting for him that are not millionaires.

  8. Carol says:

Don’t we just love how the campaign is spinning this?!? And the folks who “AGREE” with these dastardly statements.
Go visit your money in the Cayman’s Mitt…and don’t come back. Oh, and take that little Ayn Rand freak with you.
Ryan better lose his Senate seat too…I’m going to search his opponent and make a donation…

  9. Carol says:

here’s his opponent if anyone wants to join me!

  10. john liming says:

Actually you do not have to be an Obama Supporter to incur the disdain of someone like this – - – all you really have to be is poor, unemployed, on social security or medicare or taking advantage of food stamps, etc. If you do any of these things then I am sure you are comfortably within the parameters of that 47%.

Actually it may work out that the candidate actually meant to say that anyone who is not rich is part of that 47%.

I mean the arithmetic doesn’t work on anything else that has been proposed from that source, so why should anyone assume that it works for this asinine concept either?

Is anyone but me aware that all our brave military who are putting their lives on the line in all those Republican wars and who live on government paychecks are probably in the 47% too? Is that why these brave souls didn’t even get a mention in the candidate’s acceptance speech?

For crying out loud folks, that fabled “Choice” that this election is supposed to have become couldn’t become much clearer than it already has could it?

I think it is The Bible that declares that “…God will confound the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent…”

God Himself may decide this election by making the haters and the obstructionists choke on their silver feet.

  11. Carol says:

Move over Occupy……I AM THE 47%

  12. Marcus says:

What’s the fuss about? Romney speaks the truth and everyone has their panties in a bunch. And you call republicans wingnuts? Fact: 47% of Americans don’t pay taxes. Fact: the majority of those are going to vote for Barry. We all know this but Romney says it out loud and it’s a scandal. Entitlement programs are taking down Europe and Barry is going to take us down if we give him another four years to push his socialistic philosophy.

  13. Marcus – a good portion of the 45% are senior citizens who have paid taxes for years and no longer have the income to do so. Another large group of them the disabled. And yet another group make $85-100K a year and because of the deductions they can take — mortgage spouse, children, etc. they don’t pay. And then their’s that group of 1%ers who don’t pay either because of all their deductions.

To categorize them as moochers who will vote for Obama because they don’t pay taxes — not to mention those of the working poor who pay a ton of regressive taxes even though they don’t pay federal income tax — they do pay payroll taxes among others, is just beyond insulting.

But for those of you would would like to see a picture of President Obama responding to Mitt’s video, you can click here. It’s priceless! I haven’t confirmed it’s actually true, but I love it!

Mitt went to the hardware store and pick up some “stuff” — he must have meant nails. I’m guessing at least 47% of the population owns a hammer. i have several, if anyone needs to borrow one.

  14. Saint Stephen says:

    Marcus:

47% of Americans don’t pay INCOME taxes. They still pay other taxes.

  15. MomCat of 8 says:

Hmmm. . .living on Social Security apparently puts my hubby and me squarely in the 47% who pay no income taxes. Nice to know the MittWit thinks we are slackers and parasites! If (Gawd forbid!) he’s elected, and he cuts SS, we and our 8 cats will be knocking on the Mittster’s door, begging for long-term food and shelter.

  16. fidlerten says:

I am so angry about what Romney said; to think that this man would say that people like me, who vote for Obama are all just a bunch of freeloaders who don’t pay any taxes, thinks we’re entitled and don’t want to take personal responsibility for ourselves.

I would like Romney know that I have worked all my life, I have never taken government entitlement in my adult life. I have never been more than a month out of work and to hear this a-hole assume such garbage about people who don’t support him makes me want to scream.

I do hope it knocks his poll numbers into the dirt.

  17. E.A. Blair says:

I feel like I’m watching a scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail:

    King Arthur: Bloody peasant!
Dennis: Oh, what a giveaway! Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That’s what I’m on about!

The 99% is the 47% and we are all Dennis.

  18. occupyalways says:

Talking about nails. Boy! Did Mittens ever drive them solid in his coffin. His comments are true I will admit but his policies and thinking are wrong. There are still 43 % that pay income tax ( middle class ) less the 1% who are entitled to pay none because they create jobs that are still not there as evidence of the millions out of work.

So MItt keep on expressing yourself as the twit that you are, then the population will bury you in your gold plated coffin that will be mired by the rusty nails that secured you there.

For a mormon,Romney is a disgrace to the principles of any religion when dealing with his brothers. Of all the good things Romney may have done in his youth, his high and mighty ambitions have been corrupted by the greed of power and money. What a poor excuse of a man.America is entitled to better.

  19. OC Liberal says:

    Marcus –
My panties are most certainly NOT in a bunch. This is absolutely delicious! All Mitt has done is get caught being honest. There is no surprise here, just clarity. If you want to blame “Barry” for the country’s problems and call it “Socialism” go ahead. Vote for the guy who will reduce his own meager tax rate to nothing, blunder through world affairs like a drunken clown and hire W’s staff – sending us back into the path of destruction we are slowly pulling out of.

The leopard shows his spots, Mitt shows his rich fuck elitist attitude. He thinks rich guys are better than the rest. Huge surprise.

I thought he jumped the shark with the idiotic response to the embassy killings, but this is so much closer to home. How easy is it to prove Romney is is the candidate exclusively for the ones who are trying to buy this election for him? Sheldon must be so disappointed. He thought his money could buy him anything he wanted, even a President.

Off to bed – have been building the financials on a big case I’m working. Should finally finish this weekend. Had to give it a rest and came here to catch up with the news.

Poor Romney, he’s beginning to sound like the scream heard round the world. I’ve never heard him sound so petulant.

And then there’s Ryan being booed at the AARP convention.

I’ll be collecting a c-note from my oldest son come Nov 6.

I’ve never seen a candidate alienate so many groups in a single election. What was it Coulter said, “if it’s Romney, we’ll lose.” Good call, Annie. Tee hee.
