Here’s one for the books right along side “the dog ate my homework”. The newt believes he has a plausible excuse for cheating on his first two wives as well as for serving his first with divorce papers while she lay in a hospital bed with cancer.
“There’s no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate,” said Gingrich. “And what I can tell you is that when I did things that were wrong, I wasn’t trapped in situation ethics, I was doing things that were wrong, and yet, I was doing them.”
“I found that I felt compelled to seek God’s forgiveness. Not God’s understanding, but God’s forgiveness. I do believe in a forgiving God. And I think most people, deep down in their hearts hope there’s a forgiving God.”
Conservatives clearly have one distinct advantage over libs. They can choose to be as morally bankrupt as they wish and always know that uttering the words ‘god’ and ‘country’ makes it all good again. That’s what makes them such fine hypocrites and liars. They have a guaranteed pass to heaven no matter what they say or do.
Boehner passing out bribes from lobbyists in 1995 on the House floor is a lovely reminder of who this guy is and who pulls his strings. Anyone expecting change of any sort in Washington from Republicans is going to be sorely disappointed. The Take Down Obama Congressional Session is now in order.
The Senate repealed DADT but failed to pass the Dream Act. The latter would have given children of illegal immigrants a path to citizenship by way of military service or completion of college. One of the loudest voices opposing both measures was John McCain. Here’s how Joe Klein describes the vermin.
McCain distinguished himself doubly this weekend, opposing the Dream Act and leading the opposition to “Don’t Ask,” despite the very public positions of his wife and daughter on the other side of the issue. I used to know a different John McCain, the guy who proposed comprehensive immigration reform with Ted Kennedy, the guy–a conservative, to be sure, but an honorable one–who refused to indulge in the hateful strictures of his party’s extremists. His public fall has been spectacular, a consequence of politics–he “needed” to be reelected–and personal pique. He’s a bitter man now, who can barely tolerate the fact that he lost to Barack Obama. But he lost for an obvious reason: his campaign proved him to be puerile and feckless, a politician who panicked when the heat was on during the financial collapse, a trigger-happy gambler who chose an incompetent for his vice president. He has made quite a show ever since of demonstrating his petulance and lack of grace.
Politics and whoring are synonymous in many ways and few politicians prove the point better than John McCain.
“There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual. That’s not how G-d created us, and that’s not the example that we should be showing our children — and certainly not in our schools.”
“I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don’t want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option. It isn’t.”
The Republican party never met a homophobic, racist, bigoted pig they didn’t love.

Is there any doubt that DeMint and Coburn are two of the biggest assholes in Congress?
Sens. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., and Jim DeMint, R-S.C., have placed a “hold” on a bill that would sell land near the Smithsonian Institution for the National Women’s History Museum. A “hold” is a Senate practice that prevents bills from passing with unanimous consent — and implicitly threatening a filibuster.
The senators say their concerns are financial…
In their hold letter to Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the GOP senators said the museum was “a laudable undertaking.” But while the museum isn’t asking for a subsidy now, Coburn and DeMint said “taxpayers simply cannot be guaranteed of this in the future.”
Abortion politics are also in play: The senators’ action came two days after the Concerned Women for America, a conservative group, wrote DeMint asking for a hold. The group’s CEO, Penny Nance, wrote in July that the museum would “focus on abortion rights without featuring any of the many contributions of the pro-life movement in America.”
Museum CEO Joan Wages responds.
“What they are doing is holding us to a standard that no museum associated with men has ever been held to. The content of the museum is being questioned, and it hasn’t even been built. The Holocaust museum, the African-American history museum, the Native American museum — they all had very little money in the bank when Congress passed their legislation.”
It’s not about money. It’s about the construction of a museum with a mission statement that reads…
The National Women’s History Museum affirms the value of knowing Women’s History, illuminates the role of women in transforming society and encourages all people, women and men, to participate in democratic dialogue about our future.
…and turning it into what it is not – a battle over abortion rights. It’s a museum dedicated to the contributions and accomplishments of women in what is still (unfortunately) a male dominated world. DeMint and Coburn, true to Republican form, have decided to appease their small-minded base instead of doing the right thing. These jerkoffs never disappoint, do they?
