Bishop Daniel R. Jenky of the Catholic diocese of Peoria, Illinois (2012 CE) who obviously missed the above Jesus quote in his many readings on his way to becoming a bishop.
For 2,000 years the enemies of Christ have certainly tried their best. But think about it. The Church survived and even flourished during centuries of terrible persecution, during the days of the Roman Empire.
The Church survived barbarian invasions. The Church survived wave after wave of Jihads. The Church survived the age of revolution. The Church survived Nazism and Communism. And in the power of the resurrection, the Church will survive the hatred of Hollywood, the malice of the media, and the mendacious wickedness of the abortion industry.
The Church will survive the entrenched corruption and sheer incompetence of our Illinois state government, and even the calculated disdain of the President of the United States, his appointed bureaucrats in HHS, and of the current majority of the federal Senate.

In our own families, in our parishes, where we live and where we work – like that very first apostolic generation – we must be bold witnesses to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We must be a fearless army of Catholic men, ready to give everything we have for the Lord, who gave everything for our salvation.
Remember that in past history other governments have tried to force Christians to huddle and hide only within the confines of their churches like those first disciples before the Resurrection locked together in the Upper Room.

Hitler and Stalin, at their better moments, would just barely tolerate some churches remaining open, but would not tolerate any competition with the state in education, social services, and health care.
In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, President Obama – with his radical, pro-abortion and extreme secularist agenda, now seems intent on following a similar path.
Is there anything this President does which is not viewed as “radical” or “extreme” by the right?
And here’s Jenky sounding every bit Santorumish as he pours it on as thick and ugly as any politician with an agenda and an audience.
This fall, every practicing Catholic must vote, and must vote their Catholic consciences, or by the following fall our Catholic schools, our Catholic hospitals, our Catholic Newman Centers, all our public ministries — only excepting our church buildings – could easily be shut down.
Yes, that’s it. Obama the anti-Christ hard at work on shutting down every Catholic institution across the land.
It’s going to be one very long, very ugly election season.

I went to the Dalai Lama symposium this week, topic “Compassion Without Borders” & then I read this diatribe from this priest, WOW!! Laurene Powell Jobs introduced the Holiness & one of her comments spoke about how today’s religion is so divisive, how harmful & distructive the dogma has become…..then “bishop” Jenky proves it in spades. I’m very new to Buddism & I know I have a long way to go, but not as far as the Santorums & the right -wing do. I think it should be mandatory for all politicians to go to see the Dalai Lama, just maybe they might learn about compassion, truth & honesty!h

I have written both my state senators and my congressman. The Diocese of Peoria should be stripped of their tax exempt status immediately if they want to be a political rather than a religious entity.
It is proven throughout history,matters of religious leaders can generally be oblique,not clear,biased and crappy at times. Catholicism is on the wane because of men thinking of themselves as infallible.They prove that to love one another is to use government amendments in its worst application and the teachings of Jesus as a crutch to political correctness.
The bible teaches correctly and the tenets of the bible were in the hearts of the american forefathers. Leaders of religion continue to disappoint because they progress with great difficulty and the poorest suffers through their constant lamentations.

Charley, I agree with you wholeheartedly……stop the tax exempt status of these RWNJ priests! This is the most egregious example of a church stepping out of line that I’ve seen in a long time. I’m quite sure that the Diocese of Peoria will be getting a lot of attention, and I too am going to contact all my representatives.

This guy belongs back in the 19th century and he can take his dogma with him, right along with his tax exempt status that I agree he should no longer enjoy.

The way this bishop praised the Catholic church as though it has always been a stalwart institution, standing up against Communism and Nazism – you’d think they never were in cahoots or at least cooperative to regimes with those stripes, such as Stalin and Hitler. We mustn’t also forget the Inquistion which the Catholic church was in the middle of.
No, this Bishop would have us to believe that Christ is on the side of the Republicans who is on the side of the wealthy and powerful. Instead he would have Obama is doing something that is anti-Christ. As most conservatives do when criticizing this president, they have no specifics, just take their word for it that Obama is evil.
I’m so tired of listening to the constant attacks on Obama, and without any substance at all.
