Some evangelical douchebag named Jerry Newcombe commented on the fate of the victims of the Aurora shooting.
If a Christian dies early, if a Christian dies young, it seems tragic, but really it is not tragic because they are going to a wonderful place.. on the other hand, if a person doesn’t know Jesus Christ.. if they knowingly rejected Jesus Christ, then, basically, they are going to a terrible place.
and then this pile of crap:
…we’re reaping what we’ve been sowing as a society. We said to God, “Get out of the public arena.” Lawsuit after lawsuit, often by misguided “civil libertarians,” have chased away any fear of God in the land — at least in the hearts of millions.
Yeah, that’s it. Blame the actions of a deranged 24-year old living in a state with lax gun laws on civil libertarians’ atheist ways. God, their ignorance is staggering.
More of the same ‘blame the liberals!’ rantings from the director of the hate group, The American Family Association. He also finds away to pin some of the blame on gays.
I have to think that all of this, whether it’s the Hollywood movies, whether it’s what we see on the internets, whether it’s liberal bias in the media, whether it’s our politicians changing public policy, I think all of those somehow have fit together—and I have to say also churches who are leaving the authority of Scripture and losing their fear of God—all of those things have seem to have come together to give us these kinds of incidents.
…
I think the sources of this is [sic] multifaceted but you can put it all I think under the heading of rebellion to God, a rejection of the God of the Bible. I think along with an education system that has produced our lawyers, our politicians, more teachers, more professors, all of that sort of thing, is our churches, mainline churches…they no longer believe that Jesus is the only way of salvation, they teach that God is OK with homosexuality, this is just increasing more and more. It is mankind shaking its fist at the authority of God.
These people have immersed religion so deeply up their ass into their politics that there is only one word to describe their stupid, hate-filled beliefs: un-Christian. Whenever the Religious Right goes on about their god (don’t ever ask me to capitalize the ‘g’ of their god…I refuse to), any remaining link between their brand of religion and morality becomes even more intangible. These people operate on two principles and two principles alone; hate and fear.

One question for the bible-thumping haters. How many more gay babies does their God need to create before they accept the fact that unlike them, God loves gays and lesbians?
. The evangelicals god is a member in good standing with the NRA. They are no different then the Taliban.
The NRA has won this battle, even people who are sqimish about guns will now feel they need to buy one to protect themselves from armed Americans.
They are right about some things though – - – Take that statement they made about “The Churches forsaking God.” A lot of Right Wing churches forsook “God” a long time ago and made themselves into social centers and virtual extensions of some Right Wing political party or the other. Some churches even offer themselves as “Voting Precinct Headquarters and many others hold “Voter Registration Drives” and a lot of them are presenting their children with things like “1776 Patriot Vacation Bible School” where they mix religion with a heavy dose of Liberal-hating nationalistic Patriotism.
What a lot of Rightie churches have done is to forsake the Christ of the New Testament – - – the One of love, compassion, caring and sharing – - – and given Him the face of the vengeful God of The Old Testament – - – the One who lays waste, destroys and kills for the slightest offense.
It is all wing nut to the extreme.
But let us remember that there are actually persons of faith who are still good, decent and kind and who do not share the fanciful deviations of the wing nut crowd.
The reason we see so much of Wiing Nuttia is because they are the loudest, the most vicious, the least forgiving and the most vile.
I typically don’t capitalize “god” either.
So the deceased go live with Jerry Newcombe? That would be a really terrible place.
From someone is both a Christian and someone who is gay, there is several reasons why someone like John Holmes can walk into a theater like he did and shoot innocent victims, and it certainly has nothing to do with gay people or those who are not Christian.
I believe it’s more about those so-called Christians not having any real faith. When someone who calls themselves a Christian, yet feels they need a gun to protect themselves, it doesn’t speak much for their faith.
It’s like the Apostle Paul said in Romans: …having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof.
What they’ve actually done is pervert the very name of the God they claim to serve by making Him out to be something He’s not.
Yeah, the same ‘Christains’ who blame Liberals and Lack of God when something like what happened in the theater, are quick to praise a “Christian” for blowing up a women’s health center, killing as many as they can, saying the assassin was doing “God’s Work”. Fewking hypocrites.
Good observation there my friend. I love it!
When churchgoers ( which I prefer to call them) – I don’t go to church myself – complain about things like “prayer being taken out of the schools” and the taking down of Christian symbols on government property, what they should be saying to themselves is; how have we failed to show Christ to this society?
As the Christians they claim to be, they fail to get the full meaning of what Christianity suppose to mean. The Jesus they claim to follow never put blame on sinners or those who didn’t believe in God. Instead Jesus always criticized the religious ones, and they alone were the object of his scorn.
He was also criticized by those same people for sitting down to a meal with sinners as though he was a friend to them. But Jesus didn’t have a problem with sinners – he knew that his example alone would be enough to convince most of them to follow him.
It is not the sinful world around them that is their real enemy, it is their lack of faith and their lack of actually being an example of the one they claim to represent – Jesus – that is and always will be their real enemy.
It would be better if they had no religion at all then to have one built on false fallacies that allow them to claim to represent such a wonderful being that was in our midst at one time, and then live an example that is just the opposite of what that being truly was.
Sorry for the sermon but this is a very passionate subject for me.
