Sandi, I disagree, while I had issues with Reagan, back then being conservative meant leaving people alone, now it means the government should tell you who you can marry and others should serve in the Military as long as you talk tough, it means the party had room for Arlen Spector and quite a few Republicans that would now be called RHINOs, that’s whats different about now.
Ronald Reagan also kept journals. He was a journalist before being president. I have read his writings and even when I disagree on a topic, I am impressed by how much he truly did think about things. I know others may not like hearing that but by today’s standards, Reagan would be considered a moderate! Wow! Things have moved far right from Reagan’s views! Even his son admits this.
