Yes, we need to fix our intelligence. Yes, we absolutely must live up to our own ideals, as President Obama is trying to do in banning torture and closing Guantánamo Bay. We can’t let this “war on terrorism” consume us. We can’t let our country become just The United States of Fighting Terrorism and nothing more. We are the people of July 4th — not Sept. 11th.

“The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith. He is said to be a Buddhist. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger is, ‘Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.”
Hume does make a valid point. What better religion than Christianity to turn to for support when troubled by infidelity. After all, this is the religion of John Ensign, Mark Sanford, John Edwards, Bill Clinton, Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, David Vitter…to say nothing of the thousands of priests who have been involved in sex scandals over the years.
Hume is just continuing what he’s done best over the years – spreading ignorance and intolerance.

“It’s been a banner year for conservative idiocy. The ranters, the haters, the bigots, the self-loathing closet cases and prattling greed-heads were all out in force. They’ll be back again next year–you can count on it. As long as there’s money to be made peddling crap, crap peddlers won’t go away. And they’re taking no prisoners…”
I wonder what daddy would think? You can hear the entire Reagan audio clip here.

HuffPo has compiled the dumbest quotes of the last decade. Here’s a sampling…
Sarah Palin announcing her resignation as governor.
“It may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: ‘Sit down and shut up,’ but that’s the worthless, easy path; that’s a quitter’s way out.”
George Bush
“They misunderestimated me”
Sarah Palin when asked by Katie Couric what she reads.
“All of ‘em, any of ‘em that have been in front of me over all these years.”
Craig T. Nelson – Dumb conservative and actor on fiscal responsibility.
“I’ve been on food stamps and welfare, did anybody help me out? No. No.”
I love this next one. Miss Teen South Carolina 2007 when asked “Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the US on a world map. Why do you think this is?”
“I personally believe, that US Americans are unable to do so, because some people out there, in our nation, don’t have that, and eh I believe that our education, like such as in South Africa, and the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, our education over here, in the US, should help the US, or should help South Africa, and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future… for our children.”
You know that she would of answered “What color is the sky?” in exactly the same way. She was told by her handlers, I’m sure, to fit in the words ‘South Africa’, ‘Iraq’, ‘US’, ‘children’, ‘future’ and ‘education’ into a single response. And, she did!
Arnold Schwarzenegger
“I think gay marriage is something that should be between a man and a woman.”
Michele Bachmann
“This is an earthquake issue. This will change our state forever. Because the immediate consequence, if gay marriage goes through, is that K-12 little children will be forced to learn that homosexuality is normal, natural and perhaps they should try it.”
Here’s what the Weekly Standard, that bastion of neoconservative intellectual thought and wisdom, has to say about Joe ‘I’m an Independent Democrat‘ Lieberman.
Is he the greatest senator ever? He fought for victory in Iraq, he’s fighting for victory in Afghanistan, and he’s fighting to save us all from Obamacare. Who needs Olympia Snowe when you’ve got Joementum?
The greatest, I tell ya. The greatest!
