Without leaving home, Sarah Palin will be able to reach much of her political base, courtesy of a soon-to-be-built television studio in her living room paid for by her newest media patron, Fox News. From her house in Wasilla, Alaska, Ms. Palin also sends missives to 1.3 million Facebook “fans,” writes newspaper columns, Tweets and signs copies of her book for donors.
She reads daily e-mail briefings on domestic and foreign policy from a small group of advisers who remained loyal after her tumultuous vice presidential campaign in 2008. And though she has fashioned an image as an antiestablishment conservative, she also speaks regularly to a bipartisan nobility of Washington insiders who have helped enrich her financially and position her on the national political stage.
Say what you want about Palin – call her shallow, opportunistic, intellectually and truth-challenged, whatever – but no one can say that this woman does not know how to make a dollar. She’s taken full advantage of the platform given her and is milking it for all she can. While I am wary to compliment Palin on any level, one cannot deny that she has shown an amazing talent for taking a limited intellect and a pretty face and doing more with them than most could ever dream of accomplishing.
That much I’ll give her…except to note that people who lack an awareness of their own shortcomings are often capable of doing more with less. If you don’t know you’re a shallow, self-serving, empty-headed ninny, you can do amazing things.
Update:
I just caught a snippet of Palin’s $100,000 tea party speech. This is how she referred to Obama.
“A charismatic guy with a teleprompter.”
Of course she said this as she read the words written for her off a teleprompter as hundreds cheered away at her charismatic personality.

Yes, I’ll give her that she knows how to make a buck on her looks and fake folksy charm. And now she’s so special she’s getting a TV Studio in her house. Good for her. Perhaps she’ll forget the microphone is still on and we will be treated to her real self.
Oh, and Sarah, psssst, we all saw you use your handprompter during your speech and your question/answer session. Also, had you a teleprompter you would not have lost your way in your speech several times and stumbled over your words. Oh and perhaps you would not have been so confused as to use the word “Alaska” when you meant to say “Nation.”
Sarah, you used the tired old Repub talking point lies, I thought you were supposed to not be part of the establishment. But then, you wouldn’t understand the irony of you saying you are not part of the establishment, of you mocking elitists all the while quoting establishment talking points and having a TV Studio constructed in your home.
But keep it up Sarah, I hope you do make a run in 2012 because I’m really looking forward to the debates.
