Sarah Palin and The Brass Ring

.

It’s never going to stop, you know. Never.

For those who didn’t get enough of Sarah Palin during the media blitz for her first book, you’re in luck!

HarperCollins announced today that Palin is penning a second book, this time a “celebration of American virtues and strengths.”

Since Palin’s Going Rogue: An American Life shot to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, it seems only natural that Palin would try to duplicate her success, this time with a compilation of readings that inspire Palin, according to the publisher.

“She will also draw from her personal experience to amplify these timely (and timeless) themes,” HarperCollins said in a statement.

And while we’re on the subject of Palin, I thought this was funny.

Sarah Palin aligns her public image with the heartland, but it appears the former Alaska Governor has gone Hollywood. And when she leaves, she may be taking some of it with her.

On top of an appearance on the Tonight Show and rumors that she’s shopping around a TV show with reality producer Mark Burnett, Palin and her entourage were seen partaking in one of celebrity’s lushest rituals — the Oscar gifting suite.

But E! Online insists, “we can assure you she did not give up any of her swag.” They quote an unnamed vendor who claims that upwards of 20 people from the Palin camp swarmed the event. “They were like locusts,” he told the entertainment news outlet.

According to AOL’s Pop Eater, publicist Ben Russo of EMC/Bowery said, “she kind of cleaned the place out.” They list out a number of her swag-grabs, including United Hair Care products, jewels from Pascal Mouawad, Skagen watches and a whopping 40 pairs or AIAIAI earphones.

She’s never going to let go of the brass ring she lucked into.  And as long as there are suckers out there to purchase her books or pay $200 to hear her babble on about nothing, why should she.

She should stick around, she’s provides great fodder for comics, pundits, and this blog!

I look at this woman, and I think she’s a total idiot. She cannot enunciate a coherent sentence. I’m a writer and a proofreader/copy editor, and her word salad drives me bonkers.

And then I think, if I’m so smart, how come I can’t afford health insurance and she’s getting millions of dollars?

  4. M.Joseph Sheppard says:

A man your age should know better than to run with a gossip report without checking the facts first. The Oscar gifting suite has called for a public apology to Palin from blogs like this (fat chance-honesty is hardly a lefty bloggers first port of call) one printing lies about her visit.I notice you left out the part where she gifted over $1000 to the Red Cross. This is the trouble with you lefties-she drives you batshit crazy and you lose rationality.Try and calm down and write a better story next time after checking the facts.

  5. M.Joseph Sheppard says:

In case you are a too lazy lefty to do the research yourself here is the link to the statement from the gifting suite

She should quit while she is ahead, but she will not. Because money talks and she has her followers. America and the media made her famous and now we are stuck with her. And we still continue to talk about her. We give her her 5 minutes of fame and attention by ommenting on her. Does that make me one of her followers? Oh No, I have been devoting time and attention to this woman! AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I have to quit while I am ahead! :D
