Palin’s New Low

Here’s as honest a condemnation of Sarah Palin as you’ll ever read.

Half-Governor Sarah Palin crashed twice-Governor Wally Hickel’s funeral today. Trust me, if Sarah Palin was paying her respects, the check would bounce. The guest list was impressive with many Alaskan dignitaries. And then there was Palin with her daughter Piper, the 8-year-old human shield, in tow.

The Anchorage Daily News reported Palin’s comments, “Our state has lost a great leader. What he has left behind will have changed all of our lives, and he spoke so often about energy and security, and energy and prosperity and the nation, and we must not forget that.”

Really, Sarah?

You cherry-picked Hickel’s positions to support your own. You shill for BP and beg legitimacy from a man you only considered a rung on your ladder to wealth. He wasn’t afraid of oil companies-he forced them to pay $1.8 billion in back taxes. Wally Hickel summoned execs and leveraged Exxon for $1 billion in damages to buy land and fund SCIENCE in an effort to recover Prince William Sound. You chant “Drill, Baby, Drill” and embarrass us with your lack of depth and understanding to the true loss Alaskans faced from the Exxon Valdez spill.

Wally Hickel put more restrictions on oil exploration then Interior Secretary Ken Salazar will ever consider. Hickel was an environmentalist. He helped launch Earth Day in 1970. He put seven whales on the Endangered Species List. He ceased aerial wolf hunting because HE LISTENED TO ALASKANS! He believed in workers’ rights-his Hotel Captain Cook is a UNION HOTEL! His children were not props. He loved people of all colors, and believed humans were exceptional.

Today, the legacy of Wally Hickel was felt across the state. His funeral was broadcast live into cabins still waiting for spring. This is a familiar homage for generations of Alaskans who loved true leaders like Bill Egan and Jay Hammond. The “servant’s heart” truly beat in the chests of those men. The Last Frontier was honored by true First Ladies Bella Hammond and Ermalee Hickel. Their class, heart, and honor are a country mile from the hyperbole-filled bumpit of Sarah Palin.

Palin’s legacy is that of a sell-out and quitter. Today is as close as she will ever be to such a celebration of life.

Bristol Palin – Bringing in the Money

I’m not sure whether to knock or praise her.

She’s probably the nation’s most famous unwed teenage mom and now, Bristol Palin is taking her experience straight to the bank.

…Bristol has signed with a speakers bureau called Single Source Speakers, charging between $15,000 and $30,000 a speech.

I’ll do neither and simply say that if Bristol can pick up $30,000 for a speech, then more power to her. Perhaps she does have something real to contribute to the issue of teenage pregnancy. In any case, we can’t hold it against her for being born to a self-serving, dimwit of a mom. Hopefully, for her sake, she’ll eventually get an education and become more than the daughter of $arah Palin.

Good luck, kid. That is one huge monkey on your back.

Does Palin Want To Be President?

Andrew Sullivan believes he knows.

She has wanted to be president for much of her adult political life. She wanted it well over a decade ago. She risked a huge amount in saying yes to John McCain, a gamble of monumental proportions, in the pursuit of that goal. She believes sincerely that she is on a mission from God, that she is the Esther of the End-Times. Why is any of this hard to understand. By her words and her actions, she wants to be the GOIP nominee. And at a time when Republican extremism is the brand, who better represents the party than she?

Sullivan might be right here but the bigger question is: will she run? Is she clueless enough to believe she could possibly ever find a way past the fact that a majority of Americans view her as little more than a cartoonish, self-serving muppet?

I don’t know but, as I’ve written before, we’re all aware of another clueless politician who held the White House for eight long and miserable years. Anything is possible.

Palin – More Disgusting By The Day

Sarah Palin’s revisionist history lesson for the week…

I beg you, Women of Joy, to bring light and be involved, loving America and praying for her. Really, it is our solemn duty. Praying for true spiritual awakening to overcome deterioration. That is where God wants us to be. Lest anyone try to convince you that God should be separated from the state, our Founding Fathers, they were believers. And George Washington, he saw faith in God as basic to life.

Of course separation of church and state is fully enshrined in the Bill of Rights but that doesn’t stop Palin, the publicity whore, from putting her laughable and ridiculous words out there to be swallowed up by her adoring legion of fans – not unlike a herd of blind and crazed pigs in the midst of a feeding frenzy.

And then this…

Given the chaos these days, just kind of standing up and speaking out for common sense has kind of become a full-time job. And it’s keeping me pretty busy. And some days are kind of crazy. And my faith, my family — they are what keep me grounded, keep me going.

Prayer Warriors all across the country — and I know some of you are here tonight — your prayer shield allows me and others to go forth. You give out strength, providing a prayer shield. That is the only way to put one foot in front of the other, and get through some of these days with joy.

I don’t know how any politician could, or would want to do this, without knowing that there were prayer warriors out there, holding you up and seeking strength and wisdom for you. … I am so appreciative of their efforts.

What keeps Palin going is not her faith or that of simple-minded prayer warriors. It’s the $100,000 she receives every time she steps up to the podium. It’s the $12 million she’s pulled in over the last nine months. This classless, worthless vulture uses religion in the same way she uses her Down’s Syndrome stricken child – as a means to further her career and wealth.

Trash.

(I apologize for the tone of this post but I’m still running a fever and on days like this my tolerance for idiots is at an unbearable low. Listening to people like Palin, McConnell and other Republicans day in and day unabashedly spewing out lies and nonsense has me wanting to say, “Fuck you.” At least for today it does.)
