On Palin, Reagan, Tea Parties and Knowing Your Dad

I thought this somewhat entertaining and a great insight into the mind of the Palinistas.
.

.
Noteworthy is the reason Geller gives for Palin quitting her governorship of Alaska. In the wingnut’s demented mind, it’s not quitting, it’s stepping down “to lead the revolution in the lower 48.”   Really?

As amusing are some of the comments at Gateway Pundit where they felt that Geller “destroyed” Reagan.

Difficult to believe that this guy is Ronald Reagan’s son – what a disgrace.
Mrs Geller, you are fantastic and thank you for standing up for Sarah. The lefties are getting very nasty and a this is good, because it will help Sarah Palin even more.

Pamela’s point about the attacks on Palin only galvanizing the conservative base was spot on!

Geller got the worst of that deal. Of course she was rational, reasonable and persuasive but she was shouted down by a pack of ignorant swine. The supercillious smirk was never smacked off Ron Reagan’s face.

And on and on. But I did come across one interesting and lucid comment by a true Tea Partier.  It would be a mistake to believe that all teabaggers are ignorant and racist.  While the movement has no doubt been hijacked by the crazies, there does exist a core of true believers with long held convictions that speak of their Libertarian beliefs.

Although a good defensive position against “Palin quitting”, I found the “reason” Geller provided disturbing because it reeks of opportunist revisionism being used on behalf of Palin. Once revisionism creeps in to the “record” it is obvious that corruption is afloat.

I am very wary of designating Palin as having “sacrificed” her title in order to be the “leader of the revolution” in the lower 48.

I was Palin’s staunchest defender while the media slaughtered her and her children. And I wished her all the best when she resigned her governorship, attacking those who asserted Palin’s political suicide. I hoped that she would take her “sabbatical” to earnestly seek scholarly knowledge that I and responsible citizens DO demand from our national leaders. And though her latest convention speech was a crowd-pleaser, really, it broke absolutely NO NEW GROUND and could have been given any time since Reagan’s administration. I read a critique that stuck home yesterday that summarized Palin’s address as strictly neo-conservative, and failing to address the heart of the matter that actually sparked the spontaneous Tea Party Revolution which until now, was not defined by Palin–but since her speech will forever be presented as Palin by the media. Essentially, Palin hijacked the Tea Party.

Sadly, Palin has sold out. And regarding the fruits from her “sabbatical leave” she did not fair well in her interview with Chris Wallace where she had the golden opportunity to make lucid her depth of knowledge, having taken so many months “off” to supposedly garner intellectual growth. And I am sorry that she is participating in the “dumbing down of America” by selling career politicians like McCain and Perry to the Tea Party public, and ignoring the essential points that motivated the authentic grass roots movement against the growing encroachment of government against our Constitutional Liberty in life.

I don’t for a second believe that the Tea Party phenomena could ever be referred to as an “authentic grass roots movement.”  From the outset it was astroturfed by right-wing organizations like FreedomWorks and promoted heavily by Fox News.  That said, I also believe that the movement has attracted many who are sincerely concerned about government and its role in people’s lives.  While you may disagree with their basic political and philosophical premise, teabaggers of the sort I quote above, do lend a degree of credence to the movement.

The problem is that their numbers have been overwhelmed by uninformed dimwits, bigots, radicals and opportunists of the Sarah Palin type who see the Tea Party movement as either a vehicle to vent their hate or as a means of personal gain.  It is those we hear loudest above the rancorous din of protersters and it is those who now lay claim to the movement.

You know, I think we all went through our Ayn Rand days…mine were back in my late teens and early 20′s – it was all about me. Well, I’m pretty sure Atlas and Ayn are shrugging at the blithering, leather-clad, utterly vapid monstrosity of Party Girl, espousing the tenets of Objectivism.

Sarah and Todd, who govern as a team, are utterly ignorant and self-serving – at least they have HALF of the Objectivist equation correct.
