Fly Me Away

.

I’ll be at 35,000 feet for a good part of the day.  Included is a four hour wait at the Newark, NJ airport – one of the most boring in the country.   Even the Fairbanks, Alaska airport is more exciting than Newark’s.  They’ve got a stuffed polar bear display which once kept me amused for a good ten minutes.  Pretty cool.

Open thread.

BTW, a brief note about commenting policy.  In my ongoing battle with spam, any first time commenters will see their comment going into moderation.  Once it’s approved, all future comments by that person will be immediately published.  Anyone who has ever had a comment published will never see the inside of a moderation queue (assuming they use the same name and email).

Happy Saturday.

Pizza Man

.

No, not the Domino’s type. And not anything you’d pull out of the freezer. I’m making my own pizza from scratch. Exciting stuff. Really.

I just put together the dough, kneaded to perfection (I think). I used a recipe Tyler of Food Network fame uses. As I write these words, the pizza dough is doing its magic, rising slowly. The secret for making great dough of any type, is to let it rise in an oven with a damp dish towel draped over the bowl. Don’t turn the oven on but do switch on the interior light. The heat generated from the light is just what is needed to give it the warm, loving environment it needs to rise to all its glory.

My creation will be a tomato garlic pizza with a sprinkling of mushrooms and basil. And to make it even more special, the tomatoes are coming straight from my garden.  This is going to be too good.  I’m hoping to take a picture of it to post here but I have no idea where Debbie put the digital camera.  I’ll keep on looking.

In the meantime, consider this an open thread, pizza or otherwise.

UPDATE

Ok, here’s my baby (half eaten).

.

.

The dough was great so I’m happy with that part.  I need to work on the tomato sauce topping.  I just winged it this time around and even forgot to put in the oregano of which I have a ton growing in the garden.  Dumb.

Here’s how I rated my pizza. Numbers are out of a possible 10.

Taste:   6.2

Appearance:    8.6

Creativity:   5.7

Obviously, there’s room for improvement.

Sunday Morning Talking Heads

.

I have no idea who the talking heads are this morning…and don’t much care.  Whatever they have to say can’t be half as important as the story about the drunk guy in Pennsylvania who was arrested after police found him giving mouth-to-mouth to a dead possum by the side of the road.

Happy Sunday.

Sunday Morning Talking Heads

.

This is the history-making Big Day so we all know what the ‘experts’ will be yapping about.  I’m not sure what more could be said of health care which has not already been said a zillion times.  Doesn’t matter.  They’ll try anyway.  I might watch the Boehner/Hoyer matchup on Meet The Press.

Do you get the feeling it’s going to be a great day?

I have no idea who the talking heads will be this morning but I’ll take a wild guess and say that health care will be the topic of discussion.
