A little bit of crazy is on the menu with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on ABC’s ‘This Week’.  Mahmoud is always good for a laugh or two.  Bill Clinton is doing ‘Meet the Press’ and ‘Face the Nation while Karl Rove will be explaining how he was misunderstood and really does support Christine O’Donnell over at Fox.

Springsteen Sunday continues with one of my favorite’s, Jersey Girl, a song written by Tom Waits.  The Springsteen version is included on the Live/1975-85 album and is somewhat better known than the Waits original.

Trivia: Waits noted in a 1980 interview, “I never thought I would catch myself saying ‘sha la la’ in a song.”  It works.

Katrina five years later, the Beck fest, education and the midterms are all on the slate today.  What, no mosque ranting?

I’m going to spend some time this morning tending to the garden.  The high humidity has done a number on them and I’ve been negligent in caring for them over the last week.  Sadly I’m going to have to scrap the red bell pepper plants.  They’ve picked up some horrid disease and it seems to make sense at this point to just get rid of them and start from scratch.

I did a real stupid thing last night.  I attempted to move a television set from one room to another.

It was dumb for two reasons: a) the damn thing weighed at least 7000 lb. and b)  I have a history of lower back pain.  The painkillers haven’t kicked in yet so if you see anything in my posts today resembling this – $&!(#$!!* – you’ll know why.  Or if you don’t see any posts today, you’ll also know why.

The hot topic for the Sunday morning talking heads will no doubt be THE story of the century, the New York mosque and the end of life in America as you all know it should it be built.  Let us know if you hear anything else of note.

It’s 197 degrees in south Florida today, just a few degrees below Hell’s ambient temperature. I know because I just opened up the patio door a couple of inches and felt a whoosh of hot, stinking, humid air hit me in the face.  Sort of like that backdraft phenomena firemen experience when opening up a door to a room in flames.  I might save a little money on electrical costs by frying my eggs this morning out on the deck.  Find a nice flat rock, break an egg over it and I’ve got my fried eggs.  Seriously though, I’m not venturing outside until this ridiculous weather lets up.

Not sure who is on this morning but if you hear a talking head say anything of interest, give us a shout.  Open thread.

The hot topic is going to be California’s overturning of Prop 8.  If you’re unsure of how you feel about gay marriage, I’m sure the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins can set you straight (pun intended).  He’ll be on Face the Nation this morning.

Will I be doomed to burn in hell if I bake Easter bread on August 1?  I woke up with a yearning for a slice of my Easter bread but am not quite sure if I’m up to the task.  It’s a major undertaking which involves blowing away much of the day.  I gave a brief description of the process last year.  Looking at that picture of my bread makes it so tempting.  I’ll see.

On another note, I caught DiCaprio’s new flick, Inception, last night.  It is not an exaggeration to call it a masterpiece which moves writer/director Christopher Nolan into near genius category.  Visually, intellectually and emotionally this film has it all and is now included in my top 10 list (Casablanca, Godfather 1 and 2 still hold the top three spots.)

Go see it.  You won’t regret it.

As for the Sunday morning talk shows, I have no idea who is on but I’m sure it’ll all be fascinating and wonderful. (yawn)

Ok, to bake or not to bake?  Damn I hate having to make big decisions so early in the morning.

While you’re watching David Gregory this morning asking one of his sizzling, hard-hitting followup questions </sarcasm>, I’ll be landing my fifth bass of the morning. Either that or I’ll be biting into my third egg salad sandwich of the day wondering why everyone has caught fish but me.

Well, that’s the plan anyway.  I’m off to do some fishing with my sons and brother on what appears to be a gorgeous Sunday.  I’ll schedule a post or two if I have time and catch up with you on the flip side with (hopefully) a pic of one of the monsters I caught…and released.
