When I got my associates degree in Broadcast Journalism, he is who I looked up to as the example of everything a journalist should be. He was a consummate professional and a man of integrity. There are, sadly, too few who can be both in the world of broadcasting anymore. We need far more. I hope this man’s life and legacy will inspire many more to reach for all that Walter Cronkite stood for. “I want to tell the people what they need to know not just what they want to know.” His words so vital for our day! He will be missed!
I always knew when something was going on in the world, all I had to do is turn on Walter, and not only would I know that facts, but somehow he made it all seem like it would be okay.
