Someone in the comments section recently referred to Romney as the human windsock and I immediately thought of how perfectly it described Mitt, a man willing to adopt any position on any issue at any time depending on the direction of the political/economic winds. The only requirement is that his new ‘core’ conviction gets him closer to whichever goal he is currently seeking. That’s how a man gets to strap the family dog to the top of his car and not give it a second thought.
Climate change, abortion, bailouts, health care, gun control, Reagan’s policies, illegal immigration, pro, con, whatever – it doesn’t matter to Romney. His beliefs rely on a single principle; will it get him an extra vote and/or an extra dollar. Nothing else matters.
I’ve loved it when he realized he had switched his positions so many times, that the only response he could give was “I stand by what I said — whatever it was.” Huntsman pegged it with his Romney is a “weather vane” comment.
It’s going to be really interesting to see what happens at the convention in Tampa.
Recently video clip released by Ron Paul provides some insight into the coming GOP convention in Tampa. The Paulies have been garnering delegates all across the country [with little media attention] and you can bet they’re looking for a floor fight. “Respectful” will last until the first handgun is drawn. We’ve already seen the violence explode from both sides as far back as the 2008 race and more recently at the Louisiana GOP state convention. Now several delegates have filed a federal lawsuit claiming various allegations violating “rules and applicable federal voting statutes.”
Wanting the court to determine:
whether Plaintiffs are free to vote their conscience on the first and all ballots at the Federal Election known as the Republican National Convention or whether Plaintiffs are bound to vote for a particular candidate as instructed by Defendants’ State Party Bylaws, or State Laws, or the preference of political operatives….
Paulies are true believers – they are not going to give up.
The question is what is Paul wanting to extract from Romney to get the support of his delegates? Will the Romney windsock be twisting in the wind to satisfy this group? You betcha!
As an aside — I understand they are taking over local governments all across the country and, apparently, there are even fewer paying attention to that phenomena.
That is a perfect picture of the real Romney. Love it!

Do you know how a voter can find out, if this is true, and what on earth can be done to make a wide range of voters aware?
My Husband and I are beginning to question what is going on with our voter registration. We re-registered, as Democrats, as usual, as soon as we moved to a new place last year. We vote absentee, but we’re getting literature from the Republican party. The latest comes from the Republican National Committee. A 2012 Presidential Issues Survey. Coming from the office of Reince Priebus, Chairman. I don’t recognize this name at all. (I’ll do some research on him today.) It says in the accompanied letter, that we were chosen to participate in this survey due to “your active political involvement and steadfast commitment to the Republican Party in your area.” (Maybe some kind of fishing exposition?)
A few weeks ago, I noticed a graph chart popping up in Facebook through a friend of a friend, etc.. It read that California is now officially a red state. Most of the people responding were in or around the Napa area of California. They believed that chart, yet there was nothing on this thing to show us who did this chart, how it was determined in the results, or who created it.
I’m becoming more concerned that we may be facing voter purging here, (something isn’t right,) and I want to find out if this is true, and the source behind this. Who do I ask, where do I go? I will call the registration office on Monday, see if I can get some answers from them first, see if they show our registrations were received.
This survey from the Rep party bothers me. The questions bother me. We NEVER do surveys. At the end of this thing they want a donation? Ugh.. o_O
Janet, as far as your local government is concerned, you need to go to the council meetings or any other meetings involving departments in your city – also watch what’s going on in your local paper. If they don’t report on the the town’s meetings, ask them why not — they should, so I don’t expect they will tell you no. I would also suggest contacting your local county Democratic office – they will have a good idea of what’s going on. They probably have a website or FaceBook page with local information as well. Get on their mailing list or email discussion list – the real activists will be on there gripping about all kinds of things, but you’ll get a good sense of what’s going on and certainly if something is not being discussed bring it up – there will be people who know.
Priebus is from WI – one of Walker’s buddies.
You definitely need to call your county election office and confirm your registration and party identification.
As with any GOP mail – mark it return to sender so they can pay the return postage) addressee unknown. LOL Plus they can deal with the recycling! I assume they recycle vs pay for hauling away the trash.
Probably impossible to determine where the chart came from – if it has a link to a web page then i might be able to find out — unless the registration is done anonymously (probable).
While CA is reliably Dem when it comes to the Presidential election, it’s pretty dysfunctional statewide. You have just tons of GOP districts on the east side and in the middle (north-south line) of the state. Dem concentration is like it is here in WA — all along the coast line in the higher populated areas.
I just had to throw this in to show what the attitude is toward Romney from some of our cousins on the other side of the pond. The lady who made this comment has been an internet penpal for six years or so and is very intelligent, She works in a hospital in Berne, Switzerland but vacations often in Spain and Tunisia. Her English is not perfect but she speaks four languages so we can give her a little slack.
“I hope that this Mr. Romney is not going to win the elections in your country. Only to see his face makes me sick, I can’t say it in another way. He would probably start a war somewhere immediatly, at least I have the idea from the little I read.”
Dianna.
You are absolutely correct about the consolidation of power at the state house level. This has been the number one target of the Koch brothers for years. You have heard of ALEC? This was formed by these people, to do just that…..take over the state houses, and force their legislative agenda down our throats while we were “sleeping”. The most damage to our country has been in the State governments. We will have to work hard to return our government to the “people”, and to throw off the yolk of corruption in DC. Karl Rove has publicly admitted to this strategy, and he goes one step farther….He stated (can’t find link) the GOP/Corporate party will use BIG MONEY to drown out and overwhelm the electorate, us. And part of this “strategery” is psy-ops…..just the thought of being crushed by big money is enough to cause us little guys to stay home because the situation looks hopeless, and we don’t have the means to defend against such attacks. The final piece of the puzzle was the Citizens United ruling, by a corrupted court, which was the final “legal” weapon to be used to finalize the take over of our country by the corporations. That is why Mitt is dangerous to us, he will rubber stamp anything put out by congress, who was corrupted as well. All this horse race shit in the media is nothing more than distraction while the forces of the bad guys gain strength, and continue to consolidate previous gains. Read Tzun Tsu…..a wiser man in the way of war has not yet lived. His teachings are just as effective today, as they have been over the centuries, and his ideas are being used in our politics, against us. That is funny…..The right rejects the teachings of Jesus…..while embracing the teachings of a war monger. Just sayin’.
If the wind blows with enough violence the windsock can become tattered. Come on Wind!!

This is absolutely hysterical!
