Steve Benen over at the Maddow Blog has a weekly feature where he tallies Mitt Romney’s latest lies. Some of the more blatant ones from Vol. XVI:
2. In the same speech, Romney summarized his message to young people: “[I]t’s so critical, in my view, for you to consider what’s in the best interest of not just yourself, but of America, over the coming century, and it is to stop the excessive overspending.”
Annual domestic spending is already on track to become the smallest share of the economy since Dwight Eisenhower’s administration.
4.In the same speech, Romney said once “Obamacare” is implemented, “government at all levels” will “consume” 50% of the American economy.David Corn explains today that this is Romney’s arguably “biggest fib,” which falls “somewhere between ‘ridiculous’ and ‘stupid.’”
5. Also from that speech, Romney said Obama’s record includes “the first trillion deficit in history.”
That’s a blatant lie — the day Obama was inaugurated, there was a $1.3 trillion deficit Bush had left for him to clean up.
9. In New Hampshire, Romney saidObama is “focused on taking away from those who have the least.”That’s blatantly untrue in an ironic sort of way. Romney’s tax plan calls for higher taxes on those at the lowest end of the income scale. He also intends to cut food stamps, Medicaid, and educational spending, which benefit those who have the least.
10. Romney also vowed, “I want to help the poor.”
First, see #9. Second, he specifically said earlier this year, “I’m not very concerned about the poor.”
12.The Romney campaign argued this week that the former governor’s position on the auto-industry rescue “was exactly what President Obama followed,” adding, “The only economic success that President Obama has had is because he followed Mitt Romney’s advice.”Romney condemned Obama’s efforts on the industry rescue repeatedly, including throughout the GOP primaries. He can’t oppose the policy and take credit for the policy at the same time, at least not if he’s being honest.
There’s not the least bit of effort put into concealing the lies or explaining them. They’re just stated and later repeated by Fox and the rest of the noise machine where they know their adoring audience will suck it all in and repeat bleat the lies to friends and family. And on and on it goes. Nice little operation the right’s got going for itself.
Wolf Blitzer: “Do you still believe Romney is a liar?”
Newt Gingrich: “The governor said things at times that weren’t true.”

It sure would be nice if all these “values” hypocrites paid as much attention to Exodus 20:17 and Deuteronomy 5:20 as they do to Leviticus 20:13.
Every time Mittens opens his mouth I wonder if bearing false witness is a Mormon tenet as it is in the Christian religion. And then I wonder why people who claim to be so concerned about the country would case a vote for someone who clearly has no problem standing before the world and repeating lie after lie? And then I wonder what the leaders around the world will think of Mittens, if he ends up being elected? It’s pretty certain that he’s either a liar, or a doofus and neither would be a leader that could be trusted by the rest of the world.
Have you heard the good news? A great many policy holders across the country will be receiving rebates on their health insurance premium payments due the to the profit cap in the AHCA.? It will vary across the country (HI will not receive any according the the Kaiser Foundation) – with TX and FL receiving greater refunds. Average will be roughly $149. Numbers are not all in – CA is sill crunching theirs.
I can’t wait to hear Romney spin this one!
France, with their newly elected President – Hollande, is the first Nation of individual citizens to reject the FAILED conservative policies of “austerity” which have also been proven a failure in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Greece.
Ironically that is the very same “austerity” programs Republicans are promoting for the U.S. – while keeping their united “pledge” to Grover Norquist to continue the same mistaken and economically damaging tax policies that keeps the richest corporations in the world from contributing one cent to the American economy that made them rich.
New French President Hollande said “The country’s problems will not disappear with the eventual departure of Nicolas Sarkozy. He won’t take the public debt, unemployment and social problems with him.”
The very same lessons most Americans have come to learn with the departure of Bush – the money Republicans spent over 8 years of a HORRIBLE administration under Bush, is still on Americans tab – because they never paid the bills.
GoldenSun, according to Crooks and Liars voters in Greece have booted the pro-austerity politicians out of their parliament, too.
