Bain, Bain, Go Away…

http://mariopiperni.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Romney_Rain.jpg

I hope you’re all enjoying watching Romney squirm through the web of lies and deceit he’s created with the Bain Capital issue. I know I am. With the SEC documents revealing that Romney was CEO, managing director, sole stockholder of Bain from 1999 to 2002 and recipient of a six figure salary during those years, I don’t see how he can escape the brutal truth that he is ultimately responsible for all the company did in those three years. And it is so regardless of whether or not one believes his claim that he had no direct input in the decision making process at that time.

As for those defending Romney, the following thoughts from a Dish reader are as good an explanation as you’re likely to find.

What scares me is the realization that the Romney apologists are not simply being political here. They seem honestly perplexed that people are making a big deal over the fact that Romney said under oath that he was the CEO of a company for three years that he also said under oath he wasn’t managing.

Because, to them, it is not a big deal.  It’s just how things work when you are dealing with a “complicated” business and annoying government regulations.  Those who work in (and report about) corporate finance have completely bought into the idea that what they do is way too important and complicated for the general public or a bunch of government regulators to understand.  So they play by their own rules – which are only tangentially related to the actual laws on the books meant to keep the system running and protect the public.

And that’s how you end up with the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression.

Exactly. These people honestly don’t get it. They’ve placed themselves in a separate universe which they believe makes them exempt from the laws and regulations which govern “nails ladies” and the other common scum.

This story isn’t going away any time soon and it’s refreshing to see that the Obama campaign is not backing away. Their latest ad is a gem.

I’m enjoying it very much. And I’m thrilled to see the President using this relentless attack. Mitt Romney wants him to apologize? Not only no, but hell no. If you want the story to go away Mitt, release your tax returns. Another great graphic, Mario.

  2. Karen Weston says:

Mittens sounds like a pouting schoolboy who can dish it out but can’t take it:

In an interview with ABC News, Romney said it is “beneath the dignity of the presidency to go out and say the kind of things that are being said and even Democrats are saying that.”

“He sure as heck ought to say that he’s sorry for the kinds of attacks that are coming from his team,” Romney said.

  3. Robert says:

As long as Mitt can hold a pen to sign the laws the republicans say they want signed…..nothing else matters. The “statute of limitations” has passed for his felony. But while congress dithers and does nothing to help us, the same statute of limitations is fast approaching for the Wall Street crimes, LIBOR not withstanding. I’m willing to Mittbet $10 grand no banker or wall streeter will be charged….let alone jailed.

  4. Karen Weston says:

Getting a little too hot in the kitchen, Mitt??

  6. Lu Callico says:

What kind of morons are you? The guy left the company to do public service with the Olympics.

Like, where are these SEC reports? I seriously doubt they support all these claims.

SHOW YOUR LINKS or shut up.

F’n 10 years ago, too. Can’t you come up with anything better?

  7. Janet says:

Lu, well aren’t you just a ray of sunshine.
Show your links or shut up???
    “Like, pay attention dude. ”
The SEC reports are all over the news, so pick one. You don’t own this blog. You could have come here, and simply voiced your views, start an intelligent debate, add your own links to disprove it, but noo, you have to act like a CON, and get all ass-holy on here.
Bain Capital is a PERFECT issue on who Mitt Romney really is. Sorry to burst your bubble, there.
    Have a nice day!

  8. Karen Weston says:

Lu — we’re not the kind of moron that straps his dog to the roof of his car for a 650-mile trip from Massachusetts to Canada. :)

  9. booch221 says:

After watching Romney’s “Apology Tour” on Friday, it’s plain to see…

    Mittens is having kittens!

  10. GoldenSun says:

We really haven’t look closely at the assumptions of Romney’s role in “saving the Olympics”,
while he did have a specific role in the Olympics, there are many who feel he took the spotlight away from the many many other people who helped, and shined it on himself.

Was Romney the ONLY guy that could have done what he did? Most likely not, although his relation to Utah in general was helpful, an internet article states:

“No one disputes that, in the end, the 2002 Winter Games were a brilliant success. But some argue that Utah’s deep tradition of volunteerism, widespread support for the Olympic bid in the state and in the Mormon Church, and the global outpouring of goodwill — and cash — that followed the tragedy of the 9/11 terror attacks deserve much of the credit.”

“Any well trained chimpanzee could have come in and had a successful Olympics,” said Doug Foxley, a Salt Lake City lobbyist and former adviser to Romney’s presidential rival Jon Huntsman, Jr.

In regards to Romney – nothing ever is what it seems !
