Daisy Khan, one of the leading organizers behind the mosque and Islamic community center near ground zero in New York City, said Sunday that moving the project to another location is not currently on the table.
“Right now it’s not, until we consult with all our stakeholders,” Khan told ABC News’ “This Week with Christiane Amanpour.”
Khan said she believed the project would be built.
“Of course, it has to go ahead,” she said. “There’s so much at stake.”
Asked if America was “Islamophobic,” Khan responded that it’s like a “metastasized anti-Semitism”
“It’s not even Islamophobia, it’s beyond Islamophobia — it’s hate of Muslims,” she said. “And we are deeply concerned.”
And concerned they should be. The right is going to milk this one for as long as they can regardless of the damage and divisiveness being created. Just ask Mitch McConnell.
“The president says he’s a Christian. I take him at his word,” the Kentucky senator told David Gregory on “Meet the Press.”
How sweet and accommodating. The implication of course being that if one does not usually take the President at his word, then he might very well be a Muslim.
Insanity rules the day.

Mitch McConnell claims he’s not a pedophile and I take him at his word.
Could McConnell not mean, “Obama’s word is good enough for me.”?
What bothers me more than McConnell’s response is David Gregory asking the question. It only helps to perpetuate the doubt.
