This week, both the websites of CafePress.com and Zazzle.com decided to stop selling merchandise that featured the latest right-wing craze: the slogan “Pray for Obama: Psalm 109:8.” However, Cafe Press then changed its mind and told ThinkProgress that it was reinstating the merchandise, which fell within “fair political commentary.”
Whether it’s “fair political commentary” was quickly questioned. While 109:8 reads, “Let his days be few; and let another take his office,” the next line is, “Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow,” suggesting far more violent rhetoric than simple criticism. Diana Butler Bass at Beliefnet has explained that Psalm 109 is “considered one of the most difficult of all the psalms — full of violent images of vengeance and death.”
Yesterday, Cafe Press announced that it was again reversing itself and removing all the merchandise in response to strong public pressure.
Doing away with Obama is creeping more and more into the literal. To further add to the disgust is how the right has no qualms in using the bible to make their veiled threats against the President’s life. It is not difficult to imagine a Jesus-freak putting in an attempt to do ‘God’s work.’
To think we’ll have to put up with at least three and most probably seven more years of this.

Good to have you back Mario! As usual you come straight to the heart of the problem. With right wing feeding the crazies reasonable justification for unreasonable acts, they would then claim themselves not culpable because speech is free. This kind of speech is seldom free though. They might want to rethink what could happen if the crazies were left wing.
Dan – nothing ‘odd’ about the FAUX ‘righteous’ turning to hate. it’s what they do best, it’s where they ‘live’ as evidenced by the minions of now WAY dead, Lee Atwater, like Karl Rove and the young Scum-publican up and comer: Kimberly Morin.
This (Not so) ‘Young’
(39? ‘young’?…really well, Bush was a falling down drunk/alki into his 40′s that was parsed as ‘youthful indiscretion’ so… like Palin, compared to the rest of the OLD white guys she LOOKS ‘young’)
Republican was elected Chair of Young Scum-publicans either despite of or, because of this kind of PUBLIC sentiment v Obama:
Specifically, a thread where one of her friends posts that “Obama Bin Lauden [sic] is the new terrorist… Muslim is on there side [sic]… need to take this country back from all of these mad coons… and illegals,” and Shay responds eight minutes later with: “You tell em Eric! lol.”
Hate IS who/what these faux ‘christians’ are/hold most dear, don’t forget it, and do not EVER show them your back.
Anonymous is Anomaly:
I resent these people that feign Christianity. They would bring tears to the eyes of Jesus. I’m a Christian, but I’ve never met Christians like these people. I believe in good vs evil & they are definitely evil. Religion did no favors to Jesus of Nazareth. In fact, they mocked Him & eventually crucified Him. There should be no link between Church & State. Religion is another form of politics & “Ne’er the twain shall meet.” They make me & other Christians look like lunatics. They are mocking Jesus AGAIN. Whether it’s by the hand of God, or bad karma kicking their asses, they will answer for it. :-(
they (faux, VERY small ‘c’ christians) WILL ‘pay’ for it IF you ‘real’ Christians are ‘right’ and there IS an ‘accounting’ exacted by a ‘higher power’ on a ‘judgment day’.
as a sec humanist, i’m convinced that these faux ‘christians’, by action AND deed, demonstrate that they, like me, are NOT inclined to believe in any impending ‘accounting’. if they DID believe, they certainly wouldn’t be the mean-spirited, hateful, racist, i’ve-got-mine-screw-u, money grubbing pricks that they are, would they?
they’d SURELY be assured of ‘facing a contentious one-on-one @ ‘the gates’ on judgment day’ if there be a just, all knowing/seeing/hearing/reading/blogging God, right? right.
so, either they’re just the dumbest, meanest, dark-hearted pieces of bottom-of-your-shoe-i-shoulda-scooped-the-poop-off-the-lawn CRAP imaginable that God has scattered around the earth to test the good will of the REST of us that have to put up with them or….
(my personal belief)
they’re REALLY just cold, calculating, faux ‘christians’ going thru the motions to gain business, political, and/or personal advantage (witness the multiple re-inventions of Rudy, Newt, and McCain) to curry business advantage/customers, evangelical favor, or, have a ‘go’ @ that brass ring of an opportunity to ‘marry right’ [again & again & again] to pick their new dad-in-laws back pocket/get on the ‘family biz’ gravy train (see ‘Gravy Train’ McCain’s sordid history after returning from his testing as a POW).
i think they’re just hyper-opportunistic scum, grabbing for everything they can get in the here and now because that’s all that REALLY matters to them. as many of them are so fond of repeating: ‘he who dies w/the most toys, wins.’ What WOULD Jesus think/say?
i KNOW what Ghandi said, he ‘got it’:
“I like your Christ, but not your Christians, they are so unlike your Christ.”
@Kenneth: Some people fall into categories better than others. Case in point: Wingnuts. You fall into an individual category. It’s a much better place!
Now I understand why the Mormons previously on this blog said to rip the psalms from the Bible. Psalm 109:8 surely meant something else in those days as God was hard in the early days. Using a single verse like this is dangerous for several reasons. First, it’s taking a single short verse out of a very specific and detailed context, trying to use it in a way it’s not intended. Secondly, it’s essentially praying for a person to die young (Because of the context). Remember, when what is now the Bible was originally written, it wasn’t divided into verses. This particular passage would have been written in ancient Hebrew which had no punctuation either. Talking about these as “separate verses” without connection or context is simply inaccurate
But to give it its literal translation today is just inciting discord and hate. This psalm cannot be a tenet of Christianity because if it is, we are heading in the wrong direction. If anything happens to Obama in this country,we might as well tell China that their civil rights are OK because we have shown that civility is not part of our culture.
Remember Luke 6:27-31 : 27 But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. 29 To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. 30 Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. 31 And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
Frances, re: “…too hard…” THERE’s ‘the rub’! SAYING you’re principled and LIVING those principles are two VERY different things.
Do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do tongue lashings from PURE hypocrites posing as PURE Christians is the ‘line in the sand’, once crossed, that ‘red flags’ the discussion for me. Now ‘they’ are not only advocating ideas and positions I disagree with, ‘they’ are insulting my intelligence by insinuating that I’m either so cognitively challenge or distracted by rage/disgust that I will ‘miss’ the REAL message:
‘They’ are above reproach and the standards/principles do not ‘apply’ to them.’
My sec humanist ‘take’ on ‘turning the other cheek’ is that while an interesting notion for ‘selling’ the concept of pious preparatoon for ‘a better world and attendant rewards to come’,
(a plausible set of deliverables for a REAL all knowing/controlling sky-god entity…)
it ALSO smacks of a very simple mind control ‘manual’ for those pretenders that wish to slap you around, steal your ‘cloaks & tunics’, women, land, heritage,…EVERYTHING! Generally just having their way with the ‘little people’ while ‘feathering their own nests and living high on the hog (The Vatican being THE most glaring example of a VERY well ‘feathered’ nest:
“The largest single holder of ingot/bullion gold of any organization for the past 1,000 years is and has always been the Roman Cult controlling the Catholic Church.”"
“The Roman Catholic Church controls approximately 60,350 metric tonnes of gold, twice the size of the total official gold reserves around the world or approximately 30.2% of all the gold every mined/produced. At current prices, it puts the asset value of the greatest treasure in human history at over US $1,245 Billion.”
Mind you that’s JUST ‘gold’ (doesn’t account for real property holdings world wide also @ or approaching a TRILLION $) and these guys are STILL encouraging poverty stricken peoples to continue to ‘give what they can’… wow.
I think these same catholic ‘christians’ now threatening to withhold/redirect funding for charitable .orgs food/shelter efforts
in Metro Washington DC in an effort to prevent the DC from considering extending relationship equal rights is not just mean-spirited it is the exact antithesis to what ‘jesus what do’.
“…a threat that could affect tens of thousands of people the church helps with adoption, homelessness and health care.”
not just morally repugnant (though probably legally defensible) i consider this strategy of targeting the neediest and least able to suffer any additional deprivation to further this particular ‘christian’ political agenda ‘economic terrorism’.
What would Jesus do? I’m think Jesus would go ‘old testament’ on their money-grubbing inequality-championing asses.
absent that ‘reckoning ‘ I figure to do MY part by making as much ‘noise’ as I can when these small ‘c’ ‘christian’s act up/out like the Psalms 109:8 as*holes, the ‘catholics’ in DC, or the condescending pretenders here go ‘high and mighty’.

They didn’t use “the next line” in the Psalm. There are NO real conservatives who want the POTUS or his family harmed. They just want Obama out of office when his time comes. That will be in the 2012 election. He will be a one term President.
No one is calling for his death, unlike so many on the Left who publicly called for the assassination of President Bush on a regular basis.
Obama’s ‘race’ is a great thing, unfortunately, it’s the best thing about him.

Anyone with any degree of intelligence understands that if harm were to befall this President, it would spark unrest in this country that could well spell it’s demise.
I agree, no Conservative, or anyone else with the barest level of intelligence wants anything to happen to this President.
TN, then you agree that the people who are promoting Psalm 109:8 have less than the barest level of intelligence?
Psalm 109:8 “May his days be few;
may another take his place of leadership.” – NIV
If we’re going to cherry-pick the Bible, I think 109:1-5 pertains to Pres. Obama more accurately:
1 O God, whom I praise,
do not remain silent,
2 for wicked and deceitful men
have opened their mouths against me;
they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
3 With words of hatred they surround me;
they attack me without cause.
4 In return for my friendship they accuse me,
but I am a man of prayer.
5 They repay me evil for good,
and hatred for my friendship. – NIV
@USpace: It doesn’t matter if the next line was used or not. It’s a well known verse in the Bible. I recognized it immediately & I haven’t read the Bible in its entirety. Almost, but getting there. In essence, and in a court of law, intent is everything. They could have picked many other verses, but this one was picked & it was picked for a reason. Do you also defend the “pastors” who pray for President Obama’s death? These people are misguided tools of the party you call, “Conservative,” & I call, extreme. Incidentally, I am a Christian & I do not recognize these people. They are not the Christians I go to church with. My pastor prays *for* the President so that our country will thrive.
Oh brave Anony, please name “the “pastors” who pray for President Obama’s death?”. I haven’t heard anything about that, I doubt any have or the Obama-loving Media would be talking about it 24/7 non-stop for months.
If any are, they are probably extreme Leftists who feel Obama is not going far enough Left. If they were conservatives the media would make sure EVERYBODY would never forget their names.
Please expose these sick bastards. Name names, I dare you.

there were ONLY a couple of hundred thousand Goggle SERPs /so, I can understand how you might have missed the buzz, busy as you might have been penning your e-rag: hard to swallow, absurd thoughts about god. ‘free’? really? based on your (lack of) researching ‘skills’ or, your (real) intent to deceive, i’d say ‘free’ is TOO MUCH to ‘pay’. my times worth more to me than wasting it to dl the brain-droppings of a another mal-adjusted reich-winger all wrapped up in this or that ‘sky god’ delusion.
you’re ALWAYS ignoring the facts, skirting the argument, and crying like the whining little bitches ALL of the reich-wing rethugs have degenerated into…
please, take that fake indignation and rank ignorance and just go… you are SO puh-THET-ic it makes me embarrassed for you, and, i hate that!
IF there was a ‘god’ he’d smote you 2 based on just general princple for having gotten it so ‘wrong’.

No answer from TN because even he can’t make what is so wrong seem right or even acceptable. “May his days be few” – it’s a bit hard to misinterpret that even when you look at 18 different versions of the Bible. That is the milder version. How in the heck do they expect it to be interpreted? No one in their right mind would rationalize this verse as anything acceptable when applied to a sitting POTUS.
Here are the not-so-mild translations:
The Message says: “Give him a short life,
and give his job to somebody else.”
The Contemporary English Version says: “Cut his life short and let someone else have his job.”
The New Century Version says: “Let his life be cut short,
and let another man replace him as leader.”
Deny all you want to TN, but you are defending the indefensible – as usual.
Frances, if you weren’t so busy being pompous, you’d realize I haven’t really commented on this. I have just offered a degree of support to a couple that have.
Personally, I think it’s a lot to do about nothing. You people won’t stop until you have exhausted every effort to silence critics of your radical ideas and ideals.
But as usual, you ignore the simple fact that only the first verse was quoted. You want to expand it to include the rest of the Bible so long as it fits your agenda.
it gives ‘em an opportunity to CONTINUE to ignore the facts (what they ALWAYS ignore and love to label ‘garbage’) and, to CONTINUE to resort to their ‘code speak’ like the ‘you people’ reference.
document, day-date-time and cut-n-paste and grab screen shots and VOILA! another threat to the POTUS gets a visit form a couple/three BIG Black SUVs : )
It is very amusing to me as a Christian and a Conservative to see the holier than thou attitude shown on here by Liberals who can’t believe the rest of the country would be so vile and full of hate.
Do you not remember the 8 years of Bush bashing, burning in effigy, threats to overthrow him, death threats made etc. ad nauseum made by the Left Wing Radicals?
The verse is meant as it is written. No death threat. Conservative Christians hope and pray he will not be the leader of this country for long. There comes a time we will not be able to reverse the harm he is doing to us all.
Merry Christmas, and thank you all for your God-like tolerance.
@Connie: President Obama is getting 400% more death threats than George W Bush did. President Obama hasn’t invaded a sovereign nation on a false premise. Wars piss people off, Connie. American & Iraqi blood was spilled. VP Cheney made MONEY from that war. Who wouldn’t protest that? That’s right, the Republicans found that war to be righteous in its intent & reasoning.
Your Christianity rings untrue. In my church, we do not pray that President Obama will not be in office long. We pray FOR him & for his decisions to be made wisely. That verse IS meant as a death threat. Haven’t you seen the “pastors” praying for his death in the news? If you are a Christian, then you know very well what this verse means. This is why we need a separation of church & state. We don’t need your politics in my church.
Connie, if I were you, I would spend your time praying that the right wing crazies in this country don’t answer the call of Glenn Beck and Michelle Bachmann and do something tragic. As a follower of Jesus’ philosophy, that’s what I do every day.
The verse is a prayer by that person for the death of his enemy. Cherry-pick the Bible and manipulate it to suit your purposes all you want, but many rightly think that it is wrong to use this verse in this way. It is wrong to pray to God to favor you in political things or for financial gain. It is wrong to ask God to strike down your enemies or take your side in a war. That’s taking the Lord’s name in vain. It’s all over the Bible and it shows the disregard much of scripture has for the Ten Commandments. It is proof that the Bible is not the word of God, but the word of Man.
I myself cherry-picked Psalm 109:1-5 because I thought it illustrated so well, how unfairly Pres. Obama’s opponents have treated him. I thought it was ironic.
MORE of that ‘old (GERMAN)timey’ CONservative [not] ‘thinking’…

Mario, I find it difficult to believe you let Kenneth’s threats stand. Knowing there are over zealous whack jobs out there like him makes me very uneasy about participating.
At no time have I or WOULD I threaten the President with anything stronger than my vote. I hope you will see fit to rein this kind of threatening behavior and ignorance in.
It would not be a pleasant situation for any party concerned if I were to wind up on some whack job’s list as a result of my participation in the exchanges on this blog.
TN, calm down. Here’s the translation:
“RESOLVED, that a candidate who disagrees with three or more of the above stated public policy position of the Republican National Committee, as identified by the voting record, public statements and/or signed questionnaire of the candidate, shall not be eligible for financial support and endorsement by the Republican National Committee.”
Let’s tone down the personal attacks, please. This should be about exchanging ideas and while I can tolerate some of the personal stuff, when it gets out of hand, the message is lost.
Frances, I was referring to Tucker’s threats to “report” people and encouraging others to do the same. All’s fair and I try to hold my own in the commentary. But in the end, it’s all a diversion for me. A departure from daily concerns. By the way, I speak a very little German and have translation tools available also.
I don’t appreciate Tucker’s not so veiled threats and I don’t think it should be tolerated or encouraged.
Tucker, I’m not threatening you in the least. I am giving you sound advice. There are several laws against filing false complaints and adequate remedy available.
And he would find you how? He wouldn’t even know if he’s looking for a man or a woman as he staggers crazily through the hills and hollows of Tennessee looking for the one and only conservative in the state so that he can sneak up on him/her with a can of whoop-ass.
What am I saying? Be afraid – be very afraid. You probably shouldn’t hang around here since it obviously isn’t safe. Heck, I stopped posting my blog address because it creeped me out that you had checked it out.
“Personally, I think it’s a lot to do about nothing. You people won’t stop until you have exhausted every effort to silence critics of your radical ideas and ideals.” ‘tn’ @ 1224pmn 23 NOV
as for reporting threatening behavior, words, actions, activity, to the secret service. folks, its not just a good ‘idea’ it’s your DUTY as a citizen. DO not be kowtowed by the likes of these hater apologists. the secret service and the POTUS welcomes our support.
it’s well PAST time that the reich-wing fringe in this country gets a ”taste’ of what righteous ‘push back is about.
the FACT, the message is clear. “cross the line against MY President and you WILL be ‘interviewed’ by the SS.
code speak’s ‘fine’, we KNOW what you’re saying, vile, contemptible as it is there’s nothing we can do about that, except keep an eye on you here, and the other places you post. happy to do it!
btw, frances, no one online is truly/totally anonymous, not even folks like ‘ij-its’ like ‘tn’ that got to great lengths to ‘hide’.
ANYone can pretty much find ANYthing they want on ANYONE ANYtime they please, believe me. and, THAT’s not opinion, that’s a FACT learned in 10y in webdev/networking.
Frances, Too bad, I may have been a customer someday. ;-)
You are wrong. (Wow! Imagine that!) Tucker threatened to report me and others on this blog and encouraged you to do the same. And I do take that seriously. However, I have no concerns about him “finding me”. In the hills and hollows of Tennessee, or next door. Cowards never operate that way.
And you may get your wish. Before I will risk winding up the target of some nutcase’s over zealous reporting, I would refrain from further participation.
The only thing I will say further is were it to happen, all involved best make damned sure they are on firm legal footing.
@Uspace: (from Anomaly) I did ONE search on YouTube & *many* “pastors” names came up. This one in particular, wants Obama to die & hates “faggots & dykes,” hates Obama & wants the President to DIE.
By the way, “brave” USpace, My God is none of your business, but I am a Christian. Some Christians lean to the left. This Pastor leans far far to the right.
You said to me, “your supreme God really
admires rabid communists.” My God? I’m a Christian & the garbage you wrote, is a lie. Now that I did your Googling for you, go read a book…a Good Book.
From Anomaly: @Ya’ll: Check out the link above. The verse in question is mentioned right at the end AND this jackass, is yet another wingnut praying for our President to die.
@It: Don’t be so “stupid” TN. Personally, I don’t give a crap if you’re insignificant ramblings are reported or not. And, if you noticed, Kenneth mentioned Gitmo. Why would Gitmo seem to be a threat to you? They don’t torture anyone there, riiighhtt?. As your boy Hannity says, “Waterboarding is just a splash of water on the face.”
Kenneth. As much as anyone might disagree with Tennessean’s views, he has never threatened anyone. He is entitled to his opinions as you are to yours. Continuing on in this vein will get you banned from this site.
If you wish to remain credible, present counter arguments and not talk about “crossing the line”.
No one who comments here should feel harassed or intimidated in this manner and I will not tolerate it.
Attempting to stifle a person’s views is not the way to win an argument.
TN, this is just another ploy of yours to needle and annoy the people here. You seem to be the type of person who would be the first one to tattle on someone if you thought there was some way you could possibly get them into trouble. If that’s how you want to be perceived, then you have what you want. If that’s not how you want to be perceived, then drop this BS. I once had a neighbor like you and I was really glad when he moved away.
Do you have any idea what kind of trouble people would get into for filing false reports? You wouldn’t do that, I wouldn’t do that, and Kenneth wouldn’t do that. Nothing you have written here leads anyone to believe that you would be a threat in anyway to the POTUS. So rest assured in the knowledge that an idiot and a maniac are both on your side on this one.
“Personally, I think it’s a lot to do about nothing. You people won’t stop until you have exhausted every effort to silence critics of your radical ideas and ideals.”
1X more on the ‘clarification’ soapbox: ‘crossing the line’ is a reference to a non-specific ‘line’ drawn by the secret service (SS), not me. mention weapons; VTL mention specific threats of bodily harm, OTL. etc.
and, yes. i have reported and gotten 3 ‘bad’ guys, read OTL – over the line AND ‘taken down’ by the SS (grateful nation confirmed, you’re welcome): one on manufacture of illegal semi-auto to auto conversions for otherwise military style weapons (a 912 Project ‘contributor/poster him in WI), and two others, FL and here in my backyard, NY23 for not so ‘veiled’ threats to the POTUS.
he ‘shoots’… he scores from beyond the arc! a grateful nation applauds the successes, RIGHT Tennessean?
don’t be ‘seduced’ by the hand-wringing and whining accusations of this CONservative. read, AND decide. him saying so, as evidenced by the bulk of his specious /non-existent (non) arguments on any number of topics, should give pause to ANYONE considering his jibber jabber ‘seriously’.
anyone ELSE see the ignored ‘olive branch’ @ 4:46?
TN, that’s a handy resource, but what’s your point? That we cannot know exactly why someone would choose a verse like that for their slogan in their campaign against the POTUS? That the people who are using it are too stupid to realize what it means and that people might read what comes after it? Why is it the fault of others when they are intellectually curious enough to read further in the chapter to try to understand what the verse means?
Even when you remove verse 8 from its context, it still plainly says it is the wish of the speaker for his enemy to have a short life. If people want to align themselves with that sentiment, then they should be prepared to face criticism from others who believe that it is wrong to pray against people.
Frances, my point is the verse says one thing. Y’all hysterically expand on it then use that as a basis for accusing people of saying things they really didn’t say or subscribe to.
You call it being intellectually curious. I call it being intellectually dishonest and trying to mislead others and discredit opposing thought.
Personally, I would take them at their word unless one could prove and substantiate differently. I don’t think any reasonably intelligent American Citizen wishes harm on this President or any other, including Bush. (Oops. Sorry. One of Gore’s “Inconvenient Truths” there??) Therefore, I feel the desperate attempt you make to associate a desire to harm this President by expanding the specific verse quoted to include verses that suit your agenda to be intellectually dishonest.
2nd Tennesseans: 10:35 “Personally, I would take them at their word unless one could prove and substantiate differently.”
and, this?:
1st Tennesseans: 10:35 “Y’all hysterically expand on it then use that as a basis for accusing people of saying things they really didn’t say or subscribe to.”

& since & i’m STILL here, hmmm… what could explain that? the reason that i AM still here isn’t because:
a) i’m a ‘coward’? unlike LOTS of blowhards i’m ‘tested’ & ‘proven’
b) of my superior negotiation ‘skills’? (tho also verifiable)
c) i’m ‘lucky’? in love, yes. otherwise come ce come ca.
d) of ‘prayer’? naw,not my thing &/or i need ‘practice’ apparently
E) nope, not ‘e’ all of the above, either….
here’s a ‘clue’ AND some ‘friendly’ advice’, ‘CAVE CANEM’
TN says: “Personally, I would take them at their word unless one could prove and substantiate differently.”
“May his days be few” means “May his life be cut short”. There isn’t even any need to expand on it. The people who are using this verse as their slogan are either stupid, or menacing. You pick.
You don’t even get what Kenneth was trying to do. You certainly didn’t take well to his reference of verse 9. If someone had applied verse 8 to you, how would you take it? Would you not look further into the chapter to see it in context? Would you not feel threatened when you read further?
Your argument is specious. You are trying to defend what cannot be defended by people who know the difference between right and wrong.
Um…TN…two separate and distinct versus, yes. Otherwise they wouldn’t have separate numbers. But both are part of the same prayer. You’re throwing punches in the air.
Frances, okay. So I guess you have substantiated the people that originated this simply lied.
I don’t agree with anything you’ve said but it’s getting boring watching you pull arguments out of your…..thin air.
But let me agree with you on this:
“Yay! The maniac agrees with the idiot!” My only problem is trying to discern which is which! ;-) Too bad you are not both the same gender then it could be interchangeable.
From Anomaly- This topic has been deterred by an agenda well known to this site. They say “agenda”, so get to use it too! (See how that works. It goes both ways.) The rightwingers are trying to cover the craziness that rises from their acts. No matter how “stupid” it is, they defend it. They are self-defeating & perhaps we should thank them, except, they seem to want to take us down with them. They used a well known verse to make a not so veiled threat to our President. They’ve been praying for his death & apparently they still are. Not all of them, but it’s happening. USpace (scroll up)told me he/she didn’t believe me. To provide proof, I searched on YouTube & many videos came to surface. One particular pastor said, right at the end his maniacal sounding diatribe, he mentions the particular verse that is in dispute. Throughout his rant, he promotes Obama’s death.
How can *anyone* have the audacity to defend this? TN, did not say, “This is wrong if that is their intent.” It is defended by the right, no matter what.
man, you’re SO invited to our Friday night poker game!
“…scientists believe that yawning is an involuntary response to a stressful situation: When we yawn, we increase the blood flow to the brain, thus making us more alert.”"
“Contagious yawning may be a method of quiet communication by which our ancestors spread the word that a hungry lion was nearby.”
“Fear is an emotion with which we can empathize, and yawning may serve as a cue by which we spread that fear.”
i’m guessing you have (at least a modicum) the good ‘sense’ to stay away from poker games? your ‘tell’ is SO obvious. go ahead, change your ‘pampers’ there ‘bug’, we’ll wait. scoot.
some additional ‘friendly’ advice, bug. if you actually get into a life and/or limb(s) in peril situation NOT:
Oh man!! Now I’m really skeered!! Friar Tuck and his band of dangerous Poker Buddies are going to beat me up!! If they can put down the Bud and buds long enough!!
Anamoly100 says: “How can *anyone* have the audacity to defend this? TN, did not say, ‘This is wrong if that is their intent.’ It is defended by the right, no matter what.”
That’s because I don’t think it is right for unqualified people to make assumptions about what I say.
In my opinion, it was not their intent to threaten anyone’s life. And believe me, even though I’m on the atheistic side of agnostic, I too cross my fingers from time to time and whisper a little prayer that Obama’s one term will end before he can completely destroy the America I grew up in. The 2010 elections should do a nice job of slowing him down long enough to vote him out of office in 2012, hopefully before irreparable harm is done.
That’s what I believe in. That is what I entrust my hopes in. I’m an American and that is the American way. You guys gave Carter his chance. Now you’ve given Obama his. And history repeats itself.
I gots news for you. The America you grew up in has already been destroyed by the previous Administration. They ignored the Constitution and they plunged us into an economic freefall.
someone PLEASE tell the ‘bug’ that I wasn’t addressing ‘it’, ty. (anon / frances)
i was sharing VALUABLE (potentially life-saving) information with the any rational, critical (actual) ‘thinkers’ that might happen by re: ‘yawning’.
the poker game ‘invite’ was a rhetorical device designed to point out how critical ‘non-verbal’ ‘signs (‘tells’ in poker) can be a dead give away… in a ‘game’ or on the street.
as for me and my buds ‘beating’ ‘it’ up… jeez, someone help this ‘sucker’ get ‘clear’. we’d just (legally) ‘rob’ ‘it’ blind cuz of ‘it’s’ OBVIOUS ‘tells’ should ‘it’ ever actually have a chair offered ,which of course, is patently ridiculous… ‘its’ a bug, and we’re all friends.
and, as for the (typical) re-Thug coded references to ‘buds’ and ‘Bud’. i’m NOT a druggie, (also verifiable) and, i may have an occasional micro brew but in OUR poker game (like life) you HAVE to be clear-headed.
anyone that’s EVER spent any time, lost any amount of money in Vegas/Reno/among friends SHOULD BE familiar with this admonition (from ‘Time Enough for Love’ / ‘The Notebooks of Lasarus Long’ by Robert A. Heinlein about gambling:
“There is no such thing as “social gambling”. Either you are there to cut the other bloke’s heart out and eat it – or you’re a sucker. If you don’t like this choice – don’t gamble.”

Pray for Obama: Psalm 109:8
Odd how the righteous turn to hate.
they are just being true modern conservatives.
And what they do not understand is that they are being the terrorists
Well said @Kenneth E. Tucker and good advice
@Kenneth, I enjoy your comments. You’re unique!
I agree with everyone so far!

they (faux, VERY small ‘c’ christians) WILL ‘pay’ for it IF you ‘real’ Christians are ‘right’ and there IS an ‘accounting’ exacted by a ‘higher power’ on a ‘judgment day’.
as a sec humanist, i’m convinced that these faux ‘christians’, by action AND deed, demonstrate that they, like me, are NOT inclined to believe in any impending ‘accounting’. if they DID believe, they certainly wouldn’t be the mean-spirited, hateful, racist, i’ve-got-mine-screw-u, money grubbing pricks that they are, would they?
they’d SURELY be assured of ‘facing a contentious one-on-one @ ‘the gates’ on judgment day’ if there be a just, all knowing/seeing/hearing/reading/blogging God, right? right.
so, either they’re just the dumbest, meanest, dark-hearted pieces of bottom-of-your-shoe-i-shoulda-scooped-the-poop-off-the-lawn CRAP imaginable that God has scattered around the earth to test the good will of the REST of us that have to put up with them or….

Jovial, that Gospel stuff is just too hard for some of these people.

Mind you that’s JUST ‘gold’ (doesn’t account for real property holdings world wide also @ or approaching a TRILLION $) and these guys are STILL encouraging poverty stricken peoples to continue to ‘give what they can’… wow.

not just morally repugnant (though probably legally defensible) i consider this strategy of targeting the neediest and least able to suffer any additional deprivation to further this particular ‘christian’ political agenda ‘economic terrorism’.

USpace, very well put. Expect to be attacked.
Psalm 109:8 “May his days be few;
may another take his place of leadership.” – NIV
If we’re going to cherry-pick the Bible, I think 109:1-5 pertains to Pres. Obama more accurately:
1 O God, whom I praise,
do not remain silent,
2 for wicked and deceitful men
have opened their mouths against me;
they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
3 With words of hatred they surround me;
they attack me without cause.

Frances, don’t address the ‘ij-its’©
it gives ‘em an opportunity to CONTINUE to ignore the facts (what they ALWAYS ignore and love to label ‘garbage’) and, to CONTINUE to resort to their ‘code speak’ like the ‘you people’ reference.

“RESOLVED, that a candidate who disagrees with three or more of the above stated public policy position of the Republican National Committee, as identified by the voting record, public statements and/or signed questionnaire of the candidate, shall not be eligible for financial support and endorsement by the Republican National Committee.”
I know. German is a scary language.
“…It would not be a pleasant situation for any party concerned…”
NOW you’re getting the ‘hang’ of it, ‘ij-it’, thanks for chipping in with an ACTUAL veiled ‘threat’.
the difference(s)? no ‘air quotes’, common usage, cultural iconolgy and context.
talk about your aggressively ignorant ‘ij-its’©, wow!
btw, unlike you, there is NO ‘hand-wringin’ going on here, ‘ij-it’©
mario, no need to censure, this ‘ij-it’ for HIS threat, we (non) little brains’ get it, thanks.
Let’s tone down the personal attacks, please. This should be about exchanging ideas and while I can tolerate some of the personal stuff, when it gets out of hand, the message is lost.
Thank you.
olive branch extended to the mews…. just learn to read and we’ll be fine, or…not
Frances, I was referring to Tucker’s threats to “report” people and encouraging others to do the same.
TN, I think it’s odd that you took Kenneth personally and seriously.
I don’t take anything you say personally or seriously.
Frances, to the contrary. When some evidently unbalanced individual threatens me, I take it very seriously.
Connie, surely by now you understand. When Liberals do it, it’s compassionate. It’s patriotic. It’s the American Way.
When Conservatives do it, it spreading hate. It’s fear mongering. It’s Un-American!!
Please, try to understand the difference. Sheesh! I don’t know if we want your kind around here!! ;-)
And you weren’t threatened.
so much for the oliv ebranch THIS ‘ij-it’© don’t know when to zip it.
no one ‘threatned’ you ‘ij-it’, ‘whack’ as in ‘Whack-A-Mole’ is a kids game, were you EVER a kid? (i think not), and the reference was designed to link the ‘visual’ of ‘whacking’ you ‘ij-its’© popping up our of your ‘Whack-A-Mole’ reich-wing holes.
once more, let’s accede to THIS guy’s advice:
“Personally, I think it’s a lot to do about nothing. You people won’t stop until you have exhausted every effort to silence critics of your radical ideas and ideals.” ‘tn’ @ 1224pmn 23 NOV
my how the messages ‘changes’ when the ‘shoes’ on the other ‘foot’. NOT that there’s any ‘surprise’ in that.
‘ij-it’© keep your advice to yourself. i’ve got the secret service on speed dial and ‘loaded’ in my ‘fav’s, and, there they will stay.
as for reporting threatening behavior, words, actions, activity, to the secret service. folks, its not just a good ‘idea’ it’s your DUTY as a citizen.
And, that’s not a ‘threat’, it’s a PROMISE, ‘oj-it’©
code speak’s ‘fine’, we KNOW what you’re saying, vile, contemptible as it is there’s nothing we can do about that, except keep an eye on you here, and the other places you post. happy to do it!
btw, frances, no one online is truly/totally anonymous, not even folks like ‘ij-its’ like ‘tn’ that got to great lengths to ‘hide’.
This one in particular, wants Obama to die & hates “faggots & dykes,” hates Obama & wants the President to DIE.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-qr6gxIHhQ&feature=related
Your paranoia is out there tonight boyeee! ;-)
I’m starting to miss Sarah Palin week.
@Tommy. lol (me too)
TN, this is just another ploy of yours to needle and annoy the people here.
So rest assured in the knowledge that an idiot and a maniac are both on your side on this one.
gather my children and i’ll read from Kenneth verses; 11:28, 12:51, 4:46 and Tennessean 12:24.
naw, screw that but you can. use the ‘find’ function’ on your desktop/browser and you’ll be able to cut the ‘chase’ of what’s got this, reading-is-not-so-fundamental ‘ij-it’©, ‘tn’ ‘wetting’ himself.
then, there’s HIS own words. ya might wanna avert your eyes ‘ij-it’© this IS gonna ‘hurt’:
“Personally, I think it’s a lot to do about nothing. You people won’t stop until you have exhausted every effort to silence critics of your radical ideas and ideals.”
not a CHANCE you’re gonna ‘silence’ me, ‘ij-it’© i’m gonna be ‘on ya’ any/every opportunity you try to take and skew a discussion w/lies, mis-direction, or bluster, Buster.
‘ij-it’© ya might wanna invest in some remedial reading classes.
@Tommy: I never thought I’d miss Sarah Palin!
(Anomaly)
Well, Kenneth, you have a right to say what you want, but I can’t support you on it.
mario, on the other hand could (silence me)
because he understands, like me, that this isn’t constitutionally protected free’ speech (unlike ‘ij-its’© like ‘tn’ & Carrie ‘Fast Hands’ PreJean), it’s ‘for profit’ personal/business blogosphere.
1X more on the ‘clarification’ soapbox: ‘crossing the line’ is a reference to a non-specific ‘line’ drawn by the secret service (SS), not me. mention weapons; VTL mention specific threats of bodily harm, OTL. etc.
and, yes. i have reported and gotten 3 ‘bad’ guys, read OTL – over the line AND ‘taken down’ by the SS (grateful nation confirmed, you’re welcome): one on manufacture of illegal semi-auto to auto conversions for otherwise military style weapons (a 912 Project ‘contributor/poster him in WI), and two others, FL and here in my backyard, NY23 for not so ‘veiled’ threats to the POTUS.
he ‘shoots’… he scores from beyond the arc! a grateful nation applauds the successes, RIGHT Tennessean?
frances,
the ONLY people who should feel ‘threatened’ are those that pose a threat. and, though this particular ‘ij-it’© hasn’t (yet) crossed the line against my Pesident, like Anon says, threats are UP 400% (and that figure is confirmed by the SS folks Ilast talked to in SEP on my NY23 ‘catch’.)
don’t be ‘seduced’ by the hand-wringing and whining accusations of this CONservative. read, AND decide. him saying so, as evidenced by the bulk of his specious /non-existent (non) arguments on any number of topics, should give pause to ANYONE considering his jibber jabber ‘seriously’.
anyone ELSE see the ignored ‘olive branch’ @ 4:46?
just sayin’…
the ‘message’ of Psalms 109:8 is that there ARE dangerous sorts and dark souls out there and we ALL need to be vigilant AND report promptly.
Kenneth, I understand what you mean now. Sorry.
In the interest of avoiding further hissy-fits, maybe we should not dwell on the subject more than absolutely necessary. I dunno.
lol
For clarification to the hysterical, the many translations and versions of Psalm 109:8:
http://bible.cc/psalms/109-8.htm
If you choose to add to that, how can you hold others to blame.
Tucker, I have no respect or regard for you and therefore, no use for your olive branch.
I find you a rather despicable individual and I have absolutely nothing to gain by affording you my attention.
don’t ‘flatter’ yourself (though no one else is going to), IMPUDENS ES LENO the olive branch was extended ONLY because i was ‘encouraged’ to do so!
oh… SI HOC NON LEGERE POTES TU ASINUS ES and, FUTUE TE ET IPSUM CABALLUM
you whining, reading-impaired, piece of reich-wing bogoshpere rebel flotsam
‘A ‘PRAYER’
for Tennessean
Psalms 109: – 109:9
And that my friends, IS technically a threat.
i’m JUST praying for you, Tennessean
i’m JUST TRYING to be a good ‘christian’ here
and
i’m confused… how can my ‘praying’ for you be a ‘threat’ to you and AT the same ‘prayer’ NOT be a ‘threat’ to the POTUS?
You are confused.
roger that! i AM ‘confused’:
Who said this?
2nd Tennesseans: 10:35 “Personally, I would take them at their word unless one could prove and substantiate differently.”
and, this?:
1st Tennesseans: 10:35 “Y’all hysterically expand on it then use that as a basis for accusing people of saying things they really didn’t say or subscribe to.”
Who WOULDN’T be confused, ‘ij-it’©, by these 180′s in the space of 1/2h on 24NOV?! you must be on some SERIOUS meds (or, ‘off’ them).
i know, i’ll ‘pray’ for you!
Tucker, you work on it while I’m gone.
They are two distinctly separate and different verses. They quoted one. You threatened me with the other. I’m not concerned because you are a coward.
‘coward’, eh? ‘bug’, what you DON’T know about me SHOULD BE what sends you for a change your adult diaper.
folks, for the record:
(as in a DD 214 (you know the one Bush couldn’t/wouldn’t produce to verify his whereabouts [while he was AWOL from Allah-Freaking-Bama in Houston, TX detoxing/being treated for being a cokehead])
i’m a decorated Vietnam Veteran Volunteer (eg ‘stepped forward’)
(unlike WHATTA Dick Cheeny – Glenda Beck – Rush LimBalls and the rest of the talking heads and reThug reich-wing ChickenSh*t ChickenHawks that ALL ‘talk’ a good fight…JUST as long as it’s with someone else’ blood/ass on the line, ‘priorities’.
i’ve be shot once
and
i’ve had handguns drawn on me 3 times (NOT a fan of short-guns, but STILL a strong 2nd amendment supporter and card carrying NRA AND ACLU member. go figure, I believe in ‘civil rights’ AND gun rights.
Frances
“You are trying to defend what cannot be defended by people who know the difference between right and wrong.”
What YOU said. SNAP!
Ken
I just said out loud, “Yay! The maniac agrees with the idiot!” :D
Tucker…….YAWN, YAWN, YAAAWWWNNNNN. I’m skeered!
For Tuck……

‘yawn’? : D
man, you’re SO invited to our Friday night poker game!
“…scientists believe that yawning is an involuntary response to a stressful situation: When we yawn, we increase the blood flow to the brain, thus making us more alert.”"
“Contagious yawning may be a method of quiet communication by which our ancestors spread the word that a hungry lion was nearby.”
“Fear is an emotion with which we can empathize, and yawning may serve as a cue by which we spread that fear.”
http://health.howstuffworks.com/contagious-yawn.htm/printable
i’m guessing you have (at least a modicum) the good ‘sense’ to stay away from poker games? your ‘tell’ is SO obvious. go ahead, change your ‘pampers’ there ‘bug’, we’ll wait. scoot.
some additional ‘friendly’ advice, bug. if you actually get into a life and/or limb(s) in peril situation NOT:
a) do NOT ‘yawn’ and,
b) QUANDO OMNI FLUNKUS MORITATUS
it will be your ONLY chance.
TN, you are arguing with yourself.
Oh man!! Now I’m really skeered!! Friar Tuck and his band of dangerous Poker Buddies are going to beat me up!! If they can put down the Bud and buds long enough!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P6UU6m3cqk
(Hear those skeery threatening sounds in the background? I’m too skeered to look. Tell me if that’s Friar T.)
Anamoly100 says: “How can *anyone* have the audacity to defend this? TN, did not say, ‘This is wrong if that is their intent.’ It is defended by the right, no matter what.”
The best point of the thread.
@TN
If you don’t like this choice – don’t gamble.”
one more thing, bug: CAESAR SI VIVERET, AD REMUM DARERIS
