Since posting this video, I’ve gotten a better understanding of what Kony 2012 and the organization behind it, Invisible Children, represent. I should have researched deeper before throwing my support behind a movement which appears to be something other than what they say they are.
By all means watch the video…but follow up by clicking on the links I provide below before making any decision on the worthiness of the cause.
UPDATE
A reader sends this link and a warning of caution. If you have more information on Invisible Children and their organization, please share.
More reason to be concerned about the true intent of Invisible Children. See here and here.
The Marine Corps said Wednesday that it is investigating the origins of a video on the Internet that purports to show Marines in combat gear urinating on the corpses of three Taliban insurgents.
The brief video, which runs for less than a minute, began circulating on Web sites early Wednesday. It depicts four Marines laughing as they relieve themselves while standing over three prostrate bodies.
Responsible parties have condemned the actions of this small group of soldiers.
Marine Corps:
“The actions portrayed are not consistent with our core values and are not indicative of the character of the Marines in our Corps.”
U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta who has ordered an investigation:
“I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.”
Senator John McCain:
Here’s a handful of obviously undisciplined young people of the hundred and some thousand Marines that we have. And it makes me so sad. There should be an investigation and these young people should be punished, but it does great damage. It makes me so sad.
And then there’s this bit of vile trash by the bigoted witch of hate, Pam Geller.
Would anyone have CAIRed if Marines urinated on dead Nazi soldiers during WWII? (Anyone besides CAIR and nazis, that is).
I love these Marines. Perhaps this is the infidel interpretation of the Islamic ritual of washing and preparing the body for burial.
What a low-life. And if you wonder what kind of trash Geller attracts, the comment section of her site will give you a clue or two.
I’ve never been prouder to be an American!
…who cares about a bunch of jihadi women-killers? Piss on them? I’d piss on them when they were alive and THEN drop the hammer on them. Why? Because they are EVIL.
I’ve abstracted this video to pure symbolism. It’s actually more gratifying for me to view it as America pissing on The Taliban or Civilization pissing on Islam.
I wish I could rent billboards all over the country and play this 24-7-365. (Do billboards have sound? If they did I’d have the Star Spangled Banner playing along with this.)
If you had to give a face to the ugliest, most ignorant and least tolerant part of America, you need look no further than Geller and her pea-brained followers.
Saturday quiz: Based on the quote below by a state representative, which of the two major political parties would you guess this person is affiliated with?
Personally, I don’t trust one Muslim in our military because they’re commanded to lie to us through the term called Taqiyya. And if they truly are a devout Muslim, and follow the Quran and the Sunnah, then I feel threatened because they’re commanded to kill me.
And when asked if all Muslims should be forced out of the US military, the state rep. said:
Absolutely, yeah.
Easy one, isn’t it?
Of course. Only one of the two parties consistently preaches hate, bigotry and intolerance to their followers. Only one of the two political parties consistently attempts to cloak their hate and circumvention of the Constitution with talk of national security (“Muslims wish to destroy America”) or Christian bible chatter (“Homosexuality is an affront to God”) – a political party whose members openly boo a gay man serving in the military while applauding the death of a young person unable to pay for health insurance.
The Islamophobic hate speech was that of Tennessee state representative Rick Womick – a Republican. Surprise.
It should also be noted that Womick was empowered and given a platform to spit out his hate by the people who voted for him. The label of bigoted vermin belongs as much to them as it does to Womick. And should one make the claim that they were unaware of Womick’s views before casting their vote, then let them know that apathetic stupidity is as much an indictment of who they are as is bigoted jackass.
A bill passed Friday by the Tennessee Senate would forbid public school teachers and students in grades kindergarten through eight from discussing the fact that some people are gay.
Way to go, fools. Stick your fingers in your ears, cover your eyes and pretend that millions of gay people do not exist. If the kids don’t hear of them, then they obviously don’t exist, right?
In the demented, bigoted view of Tennessee’s Republican legislators, passing laws to make guns permissible in bars and public parks, trying to to force creationism into science classes, demonizing all Muslims, denying the existence of climate change while teaching hate and intolerance is their solution for preparing a generation of young people who can contribute to the fabric of American life and prepare them for the challenges they’ll face in a diverse and ever growing complex world. F***ing idiots.
Seriously, if these people ever get away with this shit and it becomes the norm across the country, in a couple of generations the U.S. would become a wasteland of ignorant fools who would be competing with the Congo as the poorest, least proficient nation on earth.
It won’t happen, of course…but only because good, intelligent Americans are fighting the good fight each and every day. But it’s a struggle for them. The idiot class is intent on forcing their world view of ignorance and hate onto the masses. It must be rejected.
The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that the First Amendment protects fundamentalist church members who mount attention-getting, anti-gay protests outside military funerals.
The court voted 8-1 in favor of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan. The decision upheld an appeals court ruling that threw out a $5 million judgment to the father of a dead Marine who sued church members after they picketed his son’s funeral.
The “it isn’t right to do it but they have a right to do it” refrain just doesn’t cut it anymore. I would think that in a civilized society, hate crimes of the type that has evil-doers carrying signs at a funeral reading “Thank God for dead soldiers,” “You’re Going to Hell,” and “God Hates the USA/Thank God for 9/11,” could be and should be deemed illegal.
Canada, Australia, France, Denmark, UK, Sweden and a number of other countries have strong hate speech legislation and no one could honestly make the claim that their citizens are any less free than Americans. Yes, I understand the significance of the 1st Amendment and the importance of free speech. I also understand that laws of good intent can be hijacked by hatemongers who threaten, abuse and insult in acts of psychological terrorism. Why should their actions be any less a crime than physical terrorism?
Assuming that the Court arrived at the only conclusion they could have given an honest interpretation of the Constitution, then it might be time to consider amending the 1st Amendment. No parent of a young man or woman who has sacrificed their life while a member of the military should ever be forced to put up with the abuse and hate displayed by the deranged members of the Westboro Baptist Church.
