Fear and Loathing In Arizona

Crazy Arizona - http://mariopiperni.com/

Unfortunately, we all have to share a planet with people as ignorant as this guy.

A gun shop in Arizona has a clear message to would-be customers who happened to vote for President Barack Obama: take your business elsewhere.

Southwest Shooting Authority in Pinetop, Ariz. took out an advertisement last week in the local newspaper, the White Mountain Independentthat spelled out the store’s new policy in explicit terms.

“If you voted for Barack Obama your business is not welcome at Southwest Shooting Authority,” the ad reads. “You have proven that you are not responsible enough to own a firearm.”

I’ll just let Albert, Martin and John respond to this Arizonian winger.

“Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity,
and I’m not sure about the former.”

~Albert Einstein

“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance
and conscientious stupidity.”

~Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Stupidity is also a gift of God, but one mustn’t misuse it. “
~Pope John Paul II

I am so fed up with these whiny rightwing brats like this gun shop owner and the pizza guys and others who are firing people in protest of Obama’s win. Gun sales and corporate profits are higher under this president than they’ve ever been, so STFU assholes!

  2. Marcus says:

It’s a free country, speedbump. Business owners can express their opinion any way they please and they don’t need your approval. Your boy won a squeaker. Good for him, Bad for the country. The only thing that’s going to prevent this country from turning into a European socialist state in the next four years is the House majority. All Americans can count their lucky stars that some of us didn’t buy into Obama’s lies.

  3. E.A. Blair says:

Well, Marcus, like it or not, it’s the electoral votes that make or break the election, and as election 2000 showed, the popular vote (with the connivance of conservative activist judges) counts for jackshit. So, you want to talk about squeakers? Here are figures from the last four elections, listing election year, total electoral votes/electoral votes needed to win, results and the winning margin:

    2000 – 537 / 269 – Bush 271 / Gore 266 Margin = 5
    2004 – 537 / 269 – Bush 286 / Kerry 251 Margin = 35
    2008 – 538 / 270 – Obama 365 / McCain 173 Margin = 192
    2012 – 538 / 270 – Obama 332 / Romney 206 Margin = 126

Looks like enough people rejected Romney’s lies and contempt for the average voter to save us from a plutocracy run by and for the people with offshore accounts and tax evasion up the wazoo.

Looks like your revered Dubya was the one who squeaked by twice, while claiming a mandate both times. If anyone in the last twelve years got a presidential mandate, it’s Obama, not Bush, not McCain, not Romney. We suffered through eight years of stupidity from the figurehead of the cheney administration, so now it’s your turn to squirm while there’s a centrist n Black man in the Oval Office.

If some gun-totin’ Bubba wants to ban me from his store based on the way I voted, I don’t give a damn. And if I did walk in, how is he going to tell how I voted in the first place? There’s a place for people like him – minimal government, rule by gun ownership, no taxes and no regulation. It’s called Somalia, and he is welcome to go there anytime.

  4. Charlie Sommers says:

Well said E.A Blair! I might add that secrecy of voting is fundamental to democracy. How does this cretin plan on determining who voted for who? Will anyone who refuses to say which candidate they favored automatically be determined to be an Obama supporter? Are there no Republican voters who value the secrecy of the democratic voting process?

I cordially invite this gun shop owner to plant a kiss on my ample posterior.

    Marcus

You better change your tune because your majority white male Republican party will soon lose Texas and other states because of the very constitution that you cherish. People like you will go down to the caves where you belong and give place to more intelligent conservatives of all stripes.

Democracy is based on votes and votes come from the majority of the population. You keep this conversation and your party is doomed to obsolescence. WAKE UP ! or start digging your grave.

As for anybody spewing prejudicial garbage,I recommend that you do not encourage them and send them into moral and financial bankruptcy.

    Good article Mario.

This reminds of a comment made by Jeremy Clarkson from BBC’s Top Gear (Series 9 Episode 3) when visiting the deep south: “I honestly believe that in certain parts of America, people have started to mate with vegetables.”

  7. Charlie Sommers says:

I recently met a young Canadian couple that I know from Facebook who were on a driving trip through the American South when they stopped to have lunch with me.. She is a nurse in a Vancouver hospital and he works on a tug in the harbor. The two of them were both mystified and horrified at the amount of sheer hatred exhibited by the local citizenry when ever Obama’s name was mentioned.

I disliked most of the decisions made by Dubbya during his administration but will concede that he had a few, very few, good ideas and I never wished death or failure on him.

Many Republicans seem to go to extremes in the hating contest. Take this “so called Christian” pastor. I am not a Christian but I was raised in the church and was taught that taking positions like this was anathema to real religion.

  8. RAllen says:

Yes, it is the hate spewed from the pulpit and fox news that has brainwashed almost half of all American adults, appealing to their fear and ignorance. These hate spewing preachers are the first that JC will drive from the churches on his return. The Christian right wing has done everything it can and is still doing so to demolish education from elementary to college level. Just in this past year almost all the states that have republican houses and governors have cut funding for higher education by up to 40%. This all started with the supposed saint Ronald Reagan who was the first governor in the history of California to implement tuition charges in California colleges and universities. Prior to Reagan any California resident could attend any state college or university tuition free. These right wing asshats must be made completely irrelevant if we as a nation want to remain competitive in a global economy.

  9. Robert Hyndman says:

Somebody please bring back the Moonies and Children of God other spooky cults. There is no longer any Earthly boogiemen for the goofy asshats to exort so they go after our president and you and me.
