Conservative Claims That Husky 12-Year-Olds Could Have Saved Many in Connecticut Shootings

Ignorance - http://mariopiperni.com/

You read stuff like this and you just know it had to come from some idiotic conservative with their head firmly placed up his or her ass where the last vestiges of male superiority syndrome reside. Via ThinkProgress:

There was not a single adult male on the school premises when the shooting occurred. In this school of 450 students, a sizeable number of whom were undoubtedly 11- and 12-year-old boys (it was a K–6 school), all the personnel — the teachers, the principal, the assistant principal, the school psychologist, the “reading specialist” — were female. There didn’t even seem to be a male janitor to heave his bucket at Adam Lanza’s knees. Women and small children are sitting ducks for mass-murderers. The principal, Dawn Hochsprung, seemed to have performed bravely. According to reports, she activated the school’s public-address system and also lunged at Lanza, before he shot her to death. Some of the teachers managed to save all or some of their charges by rushing them into closets or bathrooms. But in general, a feminized setting is a setting in which helpless passivity is the norm. Male aggression can be a good thing, as in protecting the weak — but it has been forced out of the culture of elementary schools and the education schools that train their personnel. Think of what Sandy Hook might have been like if a couple of male teachers who had played high-school football, or even some of the huskier 12-year-old boys, had converged on Lanza.

Wonderful. Apparently, in this person’s mind, the laws of physics cease to exist when it comes to bullets and males who played high-school football. Same goes with husky 12-year-old boys. Bullets just bounce off these two groups of superior beings. Also note that the writer insinuates that a female janitor would have lacked the courage and/or strength to “heave” a bucket at the shooter.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people? How warped can their minds be that they’re willing to look at every possible reason for Adam Lanza’s shooting spree other than the one that says that maybe, just maybe, semi-automatic assault weapons and large capacity ammunition clips should not be in the hands of anyone except people in the military?

They blame the lack of God and prayer in schools, mental illness, too few first grade teachers carrying concealed weapons, bad parenting, video games, Hollywood, President Obama and an absence of males in elementary schools guarding weak and helpless women and children as valid reasons as to why mass shootings occur. What about the actual weapons that can fire off numerous rounds at a single click of the trigger? What part do these people think they play in this sordid tale of carnage?

None. Absolutely none…except their belief that if there were even more guns available life would be better.

These ignorant jackasses sicken me.

I guess that our writer and those who follow this line of thinking have forgotten Sarah and her ” wisdom” about the “mother grizzly bear” who protects her cubs at all cost?

These people have gone so far over the cliff that they only make sense to each other.

  2. Cheryl says:

Actually, lets’s flip his male superiority syndrome on its head. What is the common denominator behind all of these shootings (besides guns)? That would be privileged white males (a few exceptions as to being white – but a very, very few). All white males? Of course not. However, we might look harder into why some in this demographic feel the need to act out like this.

The world has changed. Being white and male no longer give you the guarantees it once did. Look how stunned the Romney camp was after the election. Not just disappointed – but shocked. Now play out a less public scenario – not getting the job you wanted, the promotion, the date with that pretty girl, etc. Well-adjusted men go out and try harder. A select few pick up assault rifles and show the world their disappointment with said world.

As to husky 12-year-olds saving the day – I raised two – and both would have had better sense than to run into a path of bullets.

Dinamic is right – they cannot hear the constant contradictions of their own talking points.

  3. Sydney says:

When, except in the fantasy movie that seems to play in their heads, has there ever been ONE mass shooting that was stopped or prevented by a gun carrying Rambo? Never. That’s when.
In fact, in the mall in Oregon a private citizen with a weapon on him hid when the shooting started.

  4. Sydney says:

I have always wondered why don’t some of these NRA cheerleaders, go to Detroit, or some other American city that is bombarded with shootings and gun deaths, and put their money where their mouths are and take out some of these bad guys that have them so frightened that they need their semiautomatic weapons to keep themselves from peeing in their panties?

  5. Cheryl says:

I have relatives that are gun nuts. They take them out and show them off to each other; fondle them; put them back up; and brag about them. When the Newtown tragedy happened – they posted pictures on their Facebook of the dead kids and wrote along the lines of “Bless their hearts. So sad” – and then went back to fondling their guns.

If you point out the irony – they revert back to the talking point about how they need them to throw over the government, if need be. Yeah, just imagine Waco in a world with drones.

If push came to shove, every one of these guys would be the first to hide – believe me. The gun is their crutch that they need to make them feel manly. That’s why a program to buy back guns would never work here in America. There are just too many of these guys. BTW, whenever tragedies happen in these households where their kids get the guns left lying about – it’s always considered an “accident”.

On the other hand, I know a few hunters (very few). None (that I know) own an assault rifle. They are extremely careful about keeping their guns locked up – the same as cops I know. This is a different group altogether.

  6. fadumpt says:

First problem with this, the guy still had to pick something up to go kill people.
If it was a a 7 Round handgun with extra clips or a 30 round ar-15, it doesn’t matter.
If he took a home made bomb or a baseball bat or knife, it was gonna happen.
Saying the gun is the Priority One reason for anything is stupid.

Two, no one commits these crimes with “assualt rifles” like every one keeps saying.
Those rifles are banned in the US. We do have rifles that resemble assault rifles but they are, in the end, just rifles.

More God isn’t the answer, most of the world’s history that was violent has been in the name of God.
Mental Health access and parenting….that might just be the ticket there, don’t you think??
A white person with a broken superiority complex is still a mental health issue.
A twenty something with mamma issues and social issues, mental health issue.
Bullied kid gets enraged…well that’s just school bullying and we don’t generally like talking about or fixing that.

  7. Hey, fadumpt, I’ll tell you what’s stupid: attitudes like yours that refuse to acknowledge that American gun culture is a disease that is responsible for the death of thousands. Nowhere did I write that there are no other factors involved in mass shootings like the one in Connecticut. Of course there are and yes, mental health is one of them. Unfortunately, the broken and decrepit American health system makes access to mental health care unaffordable for the vast majority of people. Obamacare tries to fix some of that but I’ll take a guess here and say that you’re one of those who wants the health care law repealed. If so (and I’m quite sure I’m right), you’re another hypocritical fool who clamors about mental health in the light of talk about gun control but refuse to see real health care reform happen.

As for your assault weapon bullshit, give me a break. Go look up what a semi-automatic weapon does and the speed in which it allows a madman to kill. Lanza stopped shooting when he heard the police sirens. A lot fewer people would have died if he was unable to fire off as many rounds as he did.

  8. Cheryl says:

That crazy man in China that carrried out his attack on school children, the same day as Newtown’s slaughter – he probably had “bad parenting” and mental issues, also. The difference is he used a knife and the children are all alive.

  9. fadumpt says:

Actually, in your article, you say: “They blame the lack of God and prayer in schools, mental illness, too few first grade teachers carrying concealed weapons, bad parenting, video games, Hollywood, President Obama and an absence of males in elementary schools guarding weak and helpless women and children as valid reasons as to why mass shootings occur.” which in the end means that you don’t really believe those factors have any or very little value in the problem and that the biggest problem is the tool someone uses to commit the crime.

Actually I’m for President Obama’s health care plan and I’m a supporter of President Obama. I’m a democratic party believer and a gun permit owner…I’m sorry if it’s too much to swallow for you and I’m sorry for having to prove you wrong like this.

Cheryl: Minor details, that guys ability with a knife isn’t the point I was trying to make. To be fair, China has enough issues trying to survive it’s government, so a guy that isn’t very skilled in the use of a knife isn’t their biggest concern.

  10. Nivi says:

Instead of spending so much on a bloated budget of the Pentagon, use some of that money to secure schools. replace doors with bulletproof doors that teachers can lock with a tap of a remote button, hire trained staff to patrol the schools parking lots or to at least monitor security cameras or build a safe room so children can run to in the event of a shooting. We waste so much money on wars, our children and everyday citizens live in a potential combat zone every time they walk out of the door.

  11. @ fadumpt.

    a) You made an assumption as to what I meant and you assumed wrong. My point clearly was that people like you blame everything but the proliferation of guns on the ridiculously high number of people killed each year by guns.

    b) So you’re a gun permit holder. Good for you…and what does that have to do with the topic at hand? I’ll answer for you. Nothing.

    c) As for you being an Obama supporter. Maybe. But I doubt it. In any case, I’ll take it that you believe that access to mental health care for every American who requires it should be a priority.

  12. Cheryl says:

Not so minor detail about the China incident – I repeat, the kids are alive. He couldn’t mow them down with that knife. Whether or not the Chinese government is a PITA is not relevant.

  13. BasicFunguist says:

Following the tragedy we took in news reports from a Salt Lake City TV station on which folks emerging from a sporting goods store were canvassed as to whether or not there should be any prohibition on the kinds of weapons available to the public. Young, old, male, female…all responded in the negative. This is Salt Lake City headquarters of the LDS church. I don’t know why I was expecting something else. Here in Nevada getting a handgun (or just about any kind of weapon) is a lot easier than getting a driver’s license. Two things. (1) Repeal the bill signed into law by GB2 shielding the liability of gun manufacturers and distributors from lawsuits contending their complicity in the carnage (2) Fuck the NRA and “hunters” who need a machine gun to take down a fawn…bring back the Brady Law. BasicFunguist, back from the gates of death.

  14. Kal Palnicki says:

When silly, stupid remarks unencumbered by any thought process seem to be incisive analysis you just might be a right wing conservative twit.

  15. JCtx says:

Let me “think of what Sandy Hook might have been like if a couple of male teachers who had played high-school football, or even some of the huskier 12-year-old boys, had converged on Lanza”.

Okay, I’ve thought about it and the answer is they’d be dead. Next question.

  16. fadumpt says:

I didn’t assume anything, I worked with the context of what you wrote.

You didn’t say “These people say these are the issues, and yes, some of them might be a part of the problem, but guns are the biggest part of the problem”

You said “These people say these are the issues when obviously the only issue is guns are the problem”

I found a new issue with your article as well.
You say that only the military should have high capacity magazine rifles and handguns.
First of all, the Constitution, when you look at what the Founding Fathers were coming from and what they were wanting when they wrote “the right to bear arms”, they wanted to make sure citizen had the ability to get access some equivalent of what the military had access to. Back then, they had crap rifles and the military had the good stuff.

Second of all, the military is only on your side until they aren’t any more. If their leaders tell them to start occupying american cities and start hauling up civilians, they are more then likely going to follow their leader.
Your only defense is a neutered “assault rifle” against their tanks, fully automatic weapons and drones.
But at least it’s not a double barreled shotgun and a low capacity concealed carry handgun.

If you trust your government, that’s great. If you trust your neighbors and beyond, that’s fine. If you believe that Police, military etc are only to keep you safe, awesome. At the end of the day, when your family is raped, tortured, killed by those same people you put all this apparent trust in, remember that you don’t believe in gun violence and close your eyes. The bullet will do less damage that way.

I don’t know if I sound conservative, liberal or like some crazy gun nut that’ll shoot up your town or whatever, but your entitled to your view.
I just believe that the world can be trusted until they can’t be trusted anymore, at that point, you probably should be somehow prepared. Letting the government take away your rights, one at a time, that’s not good. That’s what every country does right before they take you over and you are powerless. Germany’s laws before world war 2 come to mind.

  17. maris says:

Who is the idiot who said/wrote that? I think we need a name here? Is this stupid person an elected official? I think it’s important to know who said this, so that we can examine their realm of power and take it away from them. Todd Aiken got his realm taken away. He was as good as tarred and feathered as you can be in the modern world. We need to concentrate on identifying the moron, and not just getting upset. Otherwise, it;s just another ghost story.
