Virginia and Georgian have passed bills which allows patrons to carry guns into bars and restaurants. Tennessee is trying to pass the same type of law after their first attempt was deemed to be unconstitutionally vague.
What part of “guns and alcohol don’t mix” do these jackasses not understand? Rep. Joe McCord, a Republican state legislator who is not seeking re-election explains:
“Essentially, NRA is saying to us, if you don’t support and vote for carrying guns in bars, we will not endorse you. This line of reasoning borders on lunacy.”
“What line will we not cross for the NRA? At what point do we say that’s too much?’ asked McCord, who is not seeking re-election. ‘I’m sorry for those of you who feel you have to hold your nose and vote for it … because of the NRA.”
The idiocy of laws like this are beyond comprehension. Many saloons in the Old West had a ‘leave your guns at the door’ policy and now, a hundred and fifty years later, redneck states like Tennessee are being pushed by the NRA to enact moronic laws.
Hey, even Johnny Cash knew it was a bad idea.

I grew up in the country and much of my time was spent shooting
guns, I love em and think that concealed carry permits should
be reasonably easy to obtain, the key word is “reasonably” —
Counties in My state who issue concealed carry permits have lower
crime rates then those who dont and thats a statistical fact.
I even wish that I could strap a 30-30 onto the back window of
My Ford pic-em-up truck just like a real live Redneck — but we
cant do that here,,,,, still the idea of letting people walk into
a bar with a firearm is just about the dumbest thing Ive ever heard
of — Ive seen people in bar fights try to kill each other with
ink pins —you really dont want them to have a gun, I mean really.
I live in Nashville, Tennessee and I oppose this stupid bit of legislation. The law will stipulate that those “carrying” will not be allowed to drink but the fact remains that the guns will be within “snatching” distance of some drunk. Thankfully many bar owners have said they will post signs banning “carrying” in their establishments.
While serving in the military I lived in two foreign countries where the private ownership of handguns was forbidden. Hunting weapons only were allowed. The homicide rates in both these countries was only a fraction of what it is here.
Sandi: Na not really, so as far as the drop in the crime rate goes
it might have been due to other factors, I’m not sure what other
factors, maybe people just decided not to be as mean.
Ive lived in the country all my life and Ive always had a shotgun
next to my bed and there’s been a few times that turned out to be
one of my better ideas.

Greg: Were those counties with lower crime rates hot beds of violence before they passed this legislation?
