Glenn Beck – Just Another Lying Fool

Glenn Beck - Liar

.I’ve elevated Glenn Beck to the higher ranks of lying jackasses so prominently found in the conservative media. This guy is making a career of spreading misinformation on a par with Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly. Let’s take a look at his latest faux rage episode from his show on Fixed News.   His cohort on this one is the ridiculous Michele Bachmann – Representative from Minnesota.

First of all, some background.

From Bloomberg:

China’s central bank Governor Zhou Xiaochuan this week urged the International Monetary Fund to expand the use of so-called Special Drawing Rights and move toward a “super-sovereign reserve currency.

Ok, no big deal there.  China, as the largest holder of US dollar financial assets, is concerned about the weaker state of the dollar.  More important, they’re trying to gain greater influence at the G20 meeting this week.  Fine.

Then, as ThinkProgress reported, the smear rag The Drudge Report, runs this blaring headline.

drudge

Well, this got Bachmann all hot and bothered and she instantly introduced legislation which would prevent the United States from recognizing any other ‘global currency’ to replace the US dollar.  We won’t even get into the little fact that China’s proposal for a “reserve currency” is very different from a “global currency”.  Bachmann had found a new false cause to once again display her undying patriotism and love for the country, regardless that it was based on misinformation.

And then, Fox’s resident madman, Glenn Beck, jumped into the fray.  He said, in speaking about the Obama administration and the supposed ‘global currency’, “These guys, they’ll take away our guns, our sovereignty, our currency…”

Sorry Glenn, what was that again?  You’ve taken a statement from some guy in China and somehow extrapolated it into Obama wanting to take away your currency?  Really?

Here’s the madman in action.

And that is how we further divide a country – just tune in regularly to professional liars and soon enough you too can believe that Karl Marx now occupies the Oval Office.

Fixed News: we lie, you believe

  1. obamaman says:

Okay. You seem obsessed with FOX News and you rail about them constantly. So, let me ask you some serious questions and if you can, try to avoid your usual acerbic commentary and just tell us how you really feel.

    1. Do you think EVERYONE that views this programming is a mindless zombie, incapable of independent thought?

    2. If not, then what exactly is it that you advocate? Do you advocate that people just simply quit viewing this programming?

    3. Do you not trust that a substantial number of the millions of people that view this programing can differentiate between the absurd and whatever “real” information they may hear?

These are very honest questions. I’m not sure what it is you seek to accomplish. But do you not trust the majority of people to be able to listen, absorb any good and discard what they don’t want or need?

Or are you of the notion that YOU should be pointing out to, if not TELLING people what they should or should not believe?

Please, I’m not trying to start a fight…or even a long winded argument. I’m just asking you what it is you advocate in the relationship between Fox News and those who view it, regardless of any political consideration or orientation.

  2. obamaman says:

I’m very sorry, but one other question.

Do YOU watch Fox News on any kind of regular basis? Or do you just garner your input from sites such as YouTube and Media Matters?

(The reason I ask this is because I don’t recall seeing any videos posted concerning Fox News that actually CAME from Fox News without being first filtered through one of these sites.)

  3. mario says:

    1. No, I wouldn’t think that all Fixed News viewers are mindless zombies but that’s not the point. You know as well as I do that people in general will not seek out further verification of the stuff they hear on television. The majority of Fixed News viewers will watch Beck and Hannity and simply believe it to be true. A survey done a couple of years ago backed this up. It showed that Fixed News viewers were more misinformed than viewers of any other network. Surprise!!

    2. I’m not advocating anything. I’m just doing my part in pointing out that Fixed News is a trash network.

    3. No. That’s why they watch that crap. They want to believe it’s all true.

    4. No, I wouldn’t waste my time watching filtered news from a propaganda ‘news’ network. I get my information from a number of sources. I’d play the clips directly from Fixed News but my location prevents me from embedding clips from their site. That said, what does it matter where the Fixed News videos come from? You can rest assured that it’s really Beck in the videos in the above post.

Now here’s a question for you. You haven’t actually refuted anything I wrote in the Beck post so I’ll assume you have no real defense for the idiot. I’ll also assume by your commentary that you are a regular Fixed News viewer. Here’s the question. Why? Why do you subject yourself to a network that is nothing more that a propaganda machine?

(I know the answer but I thought I’d ask anyway.)

  4. obamaman says:

I’m also a regular “Mario Piperni Dot Com viewer. What assumptions do you make from that?

I’m not sure there is any point in wasting time to refute anything you say. You obviously have a pre-determined agenda. You don’t watch the programming while passing yourself off as some sort of expert on it.

You take one sentence out of a commentary, much like your own, then wrongly assert that one sentence is the full context of everything they say. You do your own brand of misleading and misinformation. Beck was talking about the ultra liberal proponents now in the majority. I don’t think he once said, as YOU infer, “Obama” wants to take away anything. However, I would agree with him that with the liberal factions now in power, everything could be on the table.

If you really took the effort to look into this stuff closer, I think you would find there is much to be concerned about. Many do not see this administration as being committed to a strong America and would be more receptive to things like a “Global Currency”. They have certainly moved toward stricter gun control. Oppressive taxation is on the way and even the most zealous of you cannot dispute that.

My friend, it’s too late to become concerned about this stuff once they come knocking on your door. “Ounce of prevention…..”

As for where I get my information?? I like to consider myself pretty well read. I scour the internet for information. I read quite a bit. I read the newspaper on a daily basis. I listen to Radio Talk Shows. I look at your blog, among others. And unlike you, yes. I actually take the time to watch Fox News.

So, I’ll just keep tuning into Mario Piperni’s, Media Matters/YouTube Propaganda Network. That should give me some balance. You think??

  5. mario says:

You’ve just proven my case here. Beck obviously misled his viewers and you, a Fixed News believer, bought into it. That says all we need to know about the people who watch that garbage. Thank you for making this so easy.

  6. lindaM says:

Beck is perhaps the most profoundly stupid of all of the Fox pundits. Not the most dishonest, the most unintelligent.

  7. justin says:

There are 2 Glenn Becks. There’s the one who wears Jesus on his sleeve and talks about coming together for the good of the country. Then there’s the other who would prefer a divided country and does his part to assure it’ll happen.

Put them both together and you get the scum we see on Fox.

  8. obamaman says:

My friend. You have no case. Just an unhealthy disrespect and disdain for disagreement. On this one, I simply read what you posted. In one statement, you quote Mr. Beck as saying “These guys, they’ll take…..” and in the very next paragraph, you say Mr. Beck said “…OBAMA wanting to…”

Now, if I am the gullible idiot you seem to think everyone that listens to Fox News is, and I was so easily influenced, you just did to ME and your other readers, what you accuse Fox News of doing. You took a single statement out of a much broader rant. And changed one or two words to give it an entirely different meaning! And I say Why? If Mr. Beck is such an obvious idiot and liar, why do you have to misconstrue his words at all?

You see Mr. Piperni. That’s all I’m saying. Listen to what you want, but be intelligent enough to dig at least a little bit under the surface to get at the truth. It just seems to me that in your world, you think that ability is limited to a select few people. And that the Fox News audiences, which consists of tens of millions of viewers, have none that brilliant included.

And I’ll end my contribution to this silliness with this. I don’t think President Obama is as radical as this congress. I think issues such as “taking away our guns, our sovereignty, our currency…” are certainly on the table and quite possible with them. I think President Obama, if he is so inclined, is the only thing that can stand between them and the radical change they are capable of. At least for the next two years.

In closing, I have three words for you and anyone else who doesn’t like what they see and hear. On Fox News, Mario Piperni Dot Com, or anything else.

    TURN IT OFF!
