And the lyin’ at fox news continues…

Despite the fact that it is a blatant lie, Fox News is still going with it’s Pelosi’s Mouse story (see my previous post  More Fox News BS).    Fox News Washington deputy managing editor Bill Sammon now joins a number of other Fox News personalities in propagating a falsehood about the recovery bill.  No doubt there are millions of uninformed Americans who by now believe that the stimulus bill actually contains a clause giving out money to preserve the saltwater harvest mouse.  They believe it because they’ve now heard it at least 4 times on Fox News.

Fox is a wonderful place to go for people who enjoy their news filtered and distorted.

  1. bigdaddy says:

30 million dollars for Wetland Restoration.

Among those projects: South Bay Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project, the Napa Plant Site, and the Napa Salt Marsh restoration. All in the San Francisco Bay Area.

    http://www.ggnrabigyear.org/saltmarshharvestmouse.html

“The destruction of San Francisco Bay’s salt marsh has wrecked havoc on the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse. Although the damage has been done, we still have an opportunity to make the Bay more hospitable to the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse by restoring salt marsh habitat anywhere around San Francisco Bay with conservation organizations.”

A major component of restoration of these areas would be protection of endangered species. While it is certainly an exaggeration to say the money is “specifically” for the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse, preservation of that species would be a focal point of restoration projects.

Maybe this is just a way of drawing attention to the fact that this thing is loaded down with unnecessary, pork barrel, earmark spending that has absolutely nothing to do with stimulating our economy.

“Media Matters”!! Too funny. You can’t really be serious about continuing to use this discredited group for substantiation?

  2. mario says:

You’ve got to be kidding, right? Your logic is getting more warped by the day.

You post a link indicating that the salt water mouse is in danger and somehow that makes the claim that money from the recovery bill is going to be used to help preserve it?

You just can’t admit that Fox News is a farce impersonating a news channel, can you? They’re lying through their teeth and you feel the need to find some idiotic way to defend them?

    Get serious, dude.

  3. bigdaddy says:

Just read the entire post and try very hard to understand. If it is above your head, let me know and I’ll try to simplify it for you.

Based on this message I assume you didn’t bother to read what I said. You CERTAINLY didn’t absorb it.

Perhaps you should broaden your research. Try some sources that do not have a STATED AND SPECIFIC agenda.

  4. mario says:

I just read your previous comment again and it was as dumb the second time around as it was the first time I read it. What does a link to an article written in May 2008 have to do with the recovery plan? Are you typical of the audience Fox News attracts?

  5. bigdaddy says:

So? I guess if you don’t have Media Matters, Chris Matthews or MSGBLT to tell you what to think, you have difficulties?

Okay. Get the crayolas and paper. Turn off your Liberal Media Sources for a minute and I’ll try to educate you.

    1. There IS $30 million in the Spendulus Plan for Wet Land Restoration.

    2. Those 3 San Francisco Bay Area sites I listed are sites that would receive funding under the Spendulus Plan.

    3. I linked the 2008 article on the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse to demonstrate the relationship between the “Mouse”, the S.F. Bay Area Wetlands and the stated importance of sustaining the habitat in order to sustain the “Mouse”.

Then, I thought I had made it clear enough by clarifying that, “A major component of restoration of these areas would be protection of endangered species……..preservation of that species (The Mouse) would be a focal point of restoration projects.”

(I thought at least YOU would be able to figure that out. Sorry I over estimated you.)

And now I will repeat. While it may be an exaggeration to say there is money in the Spendulus Bill SPECIFICALLY to save Nancy’s mouse, it is a fact that the Wetland Restoration Aspect would benefit those efforts.

And likewise, it would be inaccurate to say there is NO money in the Spendulus Bill to benefit Ms. Nancy’s mouse.

And I reiterate: “Maybe this is just a way of drawing attention to the fact that this thing is loaded down with unnecessary, pork barrel, earmark spending that has absolutely nothing to do with stimulating our economy.”

CONCLUSION: Both sides try to sway public opinion with quasi outrageous statements containing the barest elements of the truth.

My question to you AND Media Matters is why you choose to concern yourselves with only those statements from conservative sources? And before you deny that, let me remind you:

Media Matters: “Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.”

Mario Matters: “I have no intent on turning MarioPipernidotCom into a Media Matters type site but I will not hesitate to expose some of the more blatant lies which come out of the mouths of the extreme wing of the conservative media.”

So, Sonny Boy. You study this, try to understand and I’ll give you additional credit.

And to answer your question, “Are you typical of the audience Fox News attracts?”

I certainly hope so. I dig into this stuff, research it and form my opinions based on my educated and informed analysis. I don’t want to end up on a “How Obama Got Elected” type of documentary, confirming that I cast my vote not knowing the difference between truth and the Starry Eyed Stupidity shoved down my throat by a Liberal Media.

  6. mario says:

You made it appear in your original comment that the stimulus bill contained $30 million for wetland restoration when you wrote the following.

30 million dollars for Wetland Restoration.

Among those projects: South Bay Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project, the Napa Plant Site, and the Napa Salt Marsh restoration. All in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Well, the bill is online, so please show us all where any of the above is included in the bill?

  7. bigdaddy says:

Best I can find on short notice.

    http://www.mercurynews.com/peninsula/ci_11696283

“Then where did the $30 million figure come from, if it’s not in the bill? It turns out that $30 million is the total amount that the California Coastal Conservancy, a state agency, recommended more than a month ago to numerous federal agencies, looking for lists of “shovel ready” projects as part of the stimulus bill planning.

The conservancy’s wish list included five major ongoing wetlands restoration projects totaling nearly 4,000 acres, said civil engineer Steve Ritchie, a Coastal Conservancy staff member who helped draw it up. And the federal Army Corps of Engineers included all five projects on its own list of possible ways to spend stimulus money.

The projects, which range from Napa County to Silicon Valley, involve moving levees, creating islands and converting former industrial salt ponds back to marshes. Each could begin by year’s end and would benefit dozens of species, including salmon, steelhead trout, ducks, egrets, and yes, the endangered mouse, Ritchie said.”

Are you trying to say there is no money in there for these projects? Seems to me you are trying to obfuscate reality by arguing semantics.

  8. mario says:

This has gotten too ridiculous for words so I’ll end this thread with the following.

A.) The money will be in the hands of the Army Corps of Engineers, and as Ritchie says, “…which range from Napa County to Silicon Valley, involve moving levees, creating islands and converting former industrial salt ponds back to marshes…”

It will be their decision as to how to use the money.

B.) And this is my main point. If MediaMatters did not write what they did and all you knew about this issue was what you heard on Fox News, you would of walked away believing that 30 million dollars was put into the stimulus bill to save the saltwater harvest mouse. That is clear.

Fox lied and misled their audience and no degree of twisting and turning can erase that simple fact.

  9. bigdaddy says:

I don’t know why I even bother. You are convinced everyone but you is stupid and trying to reason with you is futile.

You my friend are simply lying. Period. No discussion. No defense. At no point in any of these exchanges have I ever said I believed 30 mil was in this abortion of a bill to save the salt marsh harvest mouse.

In fact, if you pay attention, I have said repeatedly that was not specifically in the bill. And I have also said to deny there is no funding in the bill that would benefit efforts to save this species, along with others, is equally misleading.

At least Limbaugh, et.al. lie AROUND the truth. You just pick a lie out of thin air then try to make it a reality.

So, unless you can show me where I even remotely insinuated money was appropriated specifically to save the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse, I will accept your admission that you are a liar, along with your apology.

  10. mario says:

Read properly or don’t bother writing inane responses. I didn’t write that you “insinuated money was appropriated specifically to save the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse“.

I wrote that if MediaMatters did not write what they did and/or if I did not write this post and if you simply relied on what you HEARD ON FOX, then you would of believed that 30 million was appropriated specifically to save the salt water harvest mouse.

That is the crux of my post. Now stop the nonsense. You’re making a complete jackass out of yourself.

  11. bigdaddy says:

And you just continue to mislead.

Mario Matters says: “…which range from Napa County to Silicon Valley, involve moving levees, creating islands and converting former industrial salt ponds back to marshes…”

Conveniently leaving out: “Each could begin by year’s end and would benefit dozens of species, including salmon, steelhead trout, ducks, egrets, and yes, the endangered mouse…..”

It’s Damned hard work keeping you honest!!

  12. bigdaddy says:

BTW….don’t hold ME responsible for your improper use of grammar. If you had been speaking of people in general, you should have said, “if…all (ONE) knew about this issue was what (ONE) heard on Fox News, (ONE) would of walked away believing that 30 million dollars..” (Emphasis mine. Improper grammar yours.) or some other plural form.

Instead, you appeared to direct it at ME specifically by using “you” where I inserted “one”.

See how you guys do it then beg off and cry foul when someone nails you?

  13. mario says:

Wow…it’s literally like speaking to a brick wall!

I was referring to YOU. Just answer the question: if I did not write this post would YOU have believed that 30 million was going to save ‘Pelosi’s mouse’ based on Fox’s reporting…yes or no?

  14. bigdaddy says:

No. Actually the first thing I do when I hear something that sounds a bit on the ridiculous side, like some of your misleading stuff, I begin to research it for myself.

How arrogant! You don’t actually think I would depend on you for enlightenment? Do you?

And whatever point it is that you THINK you are trying to make is lost somewhere in your senseless responses.

Go back through there and show me one instance where I said I thought 30 million was earmarked for Nancy’s mouse. To the contrary. I repeatedly said it was not.

You keep telling me I said it was, trying to make a reality where none exists.

You were wrong again. “Mario Matters” has once again been discredited. Now move on to your next error.

But look to the bright side. If you keep on disseminating all this false and misleading information, you may attract the attention of Soros and get some BIIIGGG bucks!!!

  15. mario says:

    bigdaddy wrote:
“Actually the first thing I do when I hear something that sounds a bit on the ridiculous side, like some of your misleading stuff, I begin to research it for myself.”

Really? So let’s see how this works now. You’re claiming that EVERY time you hear Fox News make what sounds like a ridiculous allegation about Democrats, you run off to your laptop and start researching because you’re thinking..”no, that can’t be right…democrats wouldn’t do such a vile thing…Fox must be trying to mislead me.”

Is that how it happens, bigdaddy?

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You are too funny, buddy.

  16. bigdaddy says:

Well….actually…..yeah. If it’s something that interests me and I find it, shall we say, surprising, that’s exactly what I do. Laptop. Newspaper. Magazine. Book. Whatever it takes to satisfy me intellectually.

Let’s face it, there’s not too much you could “allege” about Democrats and particularly the more liberal ones that would be ridiculous or unbelievable!

Okay. I’m going to put a lid on this one for you but I’ve got to tell you, if I’m going to have to continue to clean up your messes for you, I would like to be put on the payroll. I had to clean up you Limbaugh Lies fiasco. Now I have to clean up this one. Oh well. Somebody has to set the record straight.

On the one hand, you’ve got the Limbaugh’s screaming, “$30 million to save Nancy’s Mouse.”

On the other hand, you got the Mario Matters’ of the world indignantly crying, “Ridiculous! Absolutely no way, no how any of this money will even remotely be used for such stupidity and therefore, all the Limbaugh’s and the (what were your words, oh yeah) “Simpletons” that make up his audience (actually just make up the people that disagree with you) are just lying.”

In the middle is the truth. There IS funding in the Spendulus Bill that will filter down to protection of endangered species in these areas. Nancy’s mouse happens to be one of those species. You and your ilk are no better than those you categorize as “Simpletons”, “Morons” and all the other choice descriptive terms you favor for those who would disagree with you.

You really shouldn’t have much more to say, other than you’re sorry for being so ridiculous.

So, what is next on your agenda for me to correctly state for you?

  17. mario says:

    OK, bigdaddy.

You didn’t help your already low credibility factor on these pages with a foolish defence of Fox on this issue. I imagine it’s beyond you to admit the obvious. Whatever.

  18. bigdaddy says:

    WHAT??????????????

If you say so Mr. Matters. You make these outlandish statements. Then you just float off with a “Whatever”, frivolous, vapid and inane response.

If I have found out nothing else about you to be true, my earlier statements are an absolute where your discourse is concerned:

“Now, if I am right, one thing I have learned about Mario. He will never admit it. He will never acknowledge his error. He’ll simply move on to more criticism of Bush/Conservatives/FOXX etc. His error will be little more than a speed bump in his obsessive harangues of all things not in line with his twisted little Liberal mind!”

I AM right. And I am right.

Hey! I AM glad to see you admire Krauthammer, the originator of the “Bush Derangement Syndrome”!

  19. darkArtist says:

Just read the exchange here and I’m convinced bigdaddy is putting on an act. No one could be that ignorant and illogical.

  20. bigdaddy says:

…..and the horse you slithered in on.

If you have nothing of substance to contribute, why don’t you keep quiet and just let us THINK you’re stupid?

Or maybe you want to answer the questions and address the points Mr. Matters ignores?
