Crazy Mitt’s Meltdown

http://mariopiperni.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Romney_melting1.jpg

Gail Collins.

Perhaps he didn’t know he’d made it, although, really, I thought it was pretty clear.

He could do anything he wanted during this campaign as long as he sent out signals that once he got in the White House he was not likely to be truly crazy.

We, in return, were going to be able to continue with our normal sleeping patterns through the fall.

It didn’t seem to be a lot to ask, but when the crisis in the Middle East flared up, Romney turned out to have no restraining inner core. All the uneasy feelings you got when he went to London and dissed the Olympic organizers can now come into full bloom. Feel free to worry about anything. That he’d declare war on Malta. Lock himself in a nuclear missile silo and refuse to come out until there’s a tax cut. Hand the country over to space aliens.

Exactly right.  What the last couple of days have shown is that Mitt Romney would be capable of just about anything once in the White House and there is no way to predict what he would or would not do.

And how do we know this?

Because if we’ve learned anything about Crazy Mitt, it’s that he doesn’t have the slightest idea what he would or would not do on just about any issue you can think of.

  1. redState girl says:

And how is this any different than when Obama took office?

  2. E.A. Blair says:

    @redState girl:

Why don’t you enlighten us, O font of all wisdom? We are just hanging on every word you type, your worship.

  3. occupyalways says:

    Red State girl,

If you don’t know, then we understand that you don’t know anything also other than what is said by FOX news and Romney / Ryan lies. Because if you were well read, you would read what Obama did for the poor and middle class and how diplomacy is the best tactic before bringing in war machines.

Romney and Ryan rat train is bound to nowhere and every day you will discover how Obama is still coming back for another four years.

  4. redState girl says:

Where do I begin listing Obama’s broken promises? He promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. FAIL! He prommised to fix the economy. FAIL! He promised to close Guantanamo Bay. FAIL! He promised to end D.C. divisiveness. FAIL!

    Missing Bush yet?

  5. Karen Weston says:

Quite different, Red State Girl. President Obama has the equipment for and practices thinking over every scenario thoroughly before taking action. Like what the consequences might be for the country, how will it effect all of the people, if the benefits outweigh the risks, etc. He cares — it doesn’t matter what your political persuasion is to him. As he has said, “I’m not the Democratic president or the Republican president, I’m the president . . . I don’t care if you’re a Republican or Democrat because we’re all Americans and we are in this together.”

In other words, the President calmly puts brain in gear before putting mouth in motion. No — he’s not perfect, he has made gaffes or had remarks taken out of context, but I’ll put his track record up against Romney’s any day.

  6. Karen Weston says:

    @RedStateGirl:

    “Missing Bush yet?”

Wow — I had begun to think after reading all of your previous posts that you didn’t have any sense of humor!

  7. Charlie Sommers says:

@ redState girl, If you had been paying attention you would have noticed that Obama tried very hard to do all the things you faulted him for. Unfortunately he requires help from both sides of the isle to accomplish a lot of things. If the Republicans had the interest of the citizens of our country at heart they would have offered cooperation on some things. Unfortunately they are not interested in any of the things you mentioned but are only intent on preventing Obama’s reelection and are wiling to turn us into a banana republic in the process.

  8. Janice Stewart says:

And for about 24 hours, even leading republicans believed romney had stepped in it. But now the machine has kicked in – and once again, the message is out – this is all Obama’s fault. They cry: We’ve only got one active war going on and it’s all Obama’s fault. He’s just too timid to declare war on everyone who doesn’t go around yelling America is No. 1!. Anyone who has any respect or allegience to any country but America or any religion but Christianity is an enemy. Well personally, I’m grateful for a leader who thinks before he acts, considers options before flapping his jaws. He is a strong, courageous AMERICAN!!

  9. Cheryl says:

    Everyone,

I applaud your efforts, but redstategirl has never let facts get in the way of parroting Rush and Co., and evidently does not have the capacity of critical thinking.

Like the Colbert spot at the RNC, I sometimes wish we could fire the red states that take in more money than they give out.

  10. Charlie Sommers says:

You are right Cheryl, I had forgotten that much of what redState girl advocates was decided on by semi-literate goat herders back in the Bronze and early Iron Ages. She does not think for herself.

  11. redState girl says:

” I had forgotten that much of what redState girl advocates was decided on by semi-literate goat herders back in the Bronze and early Iron Ages. She does not think for herself.”

That’s a nasty comment. Why would you all assume that because I don’t agree with your politics, I don’t think for myself or that I am parroting Rush and Co? I could easily make the same remark about Charlie and Cheryl. Maybe you’re both parroting Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews.

I made a valid argument as to why Obama cannot be trusted for his broken promises. Blaming his ineptitude on Republicans isn’t working anymore. The people know better.

  12. Marcus says:

    Tell ‘em, redstate!

  13. Cystal says:

@redState girl…the point of this article is that Mitt Romney can’t keep his cool in a tough situation. I’m not sure where Obama’s “broken promises,” whatever you think of them, come into this conversation.

Stop and think for a second everyone, please.

This is how the conversation just went:

Article: Mitt Romney can’t keep his cool in tough situations, as evidenced by recent events
    redState girl: Obama breaks promises
Everyone Else: now arguing over whether Obama breaks promises

Conversational diversion from unpleasant point about Mitt Romney: success!

  14. Alichia says:

@Red State Girl, I’m sorry to disappoint but the fact is both the democrats and republicans have to work together and if one side doesn’t want to work with the other to make things happen then it’s hard not to put blame on the party who is failing to step up. I guarantee if the roles were reversed you would have no problem blaming the democrats. How many people I know who were Romney supports who have seen all his B.S. and lies. The fact is the people do know better. I hope you to will take the time and realize that Romneys policies are the same if not worse then Bush.

  15. redState girl says:

Cystal, I was responding to Mario’s comment that no one could predict what Mitt Romney would do when he becomes president. My point is that given Obama’s record of broken promises, the same could be said about him.

Alichia, in case you haven’t noticed, it’s an election campaign. Both sides lie. Intelligent voters are aware of this and can determine when republicans and democrats are playing politics.

  16. Nivi says:

Broken Promises – Aaaaw – poor redstate girl sounds like a 12 year old that didn’t get her dolly for Christmas,,, I’m sure in your well thought out life you’ve kept every promise to everyone, why don’t you run for president since you are the standard of perfection. It must be nice to have a memory that only goes back to 2008, I am jealous of your ignorant bliss…

  17. Alichia says:

@Red State Girl, here’s the facts
    http://www.politifact.com/personalities/barack-obama/
    http://www.politifact.com/personalities/mitt-romney/

So your right about both sides telling lies but a simple fact check can tell you who’s the most misleading.

  18. Nivi says:

Holy cow batman,,, Mitt tells a lot of lies according to politfacts.com

  19. Diane says:

He is not presidential material. He is the wrong man for the job.
There is no shame in that, but I think it points out the divisiveness in the republican party.

They are too broken to nominate a candidate that would sound less crazy, more appealing to the general public.

  20. Sydney says:

Redstate, Mario was referencing the op-Ed piece that was in the NYT. If you click on the Gail Collins (it’s in blue on the top of the story) you can read the thing in its entirety. She is the one who said that we should all be scared shitless if Romney gets elected. And anyone who has listened to him speak in the last several days feels the same way. The man just wants to WIN. Will he start a nuclear war with Iran? Who knows? As long as he WINS! Will he do away with Medicaid and SS for our seniors? Don’t know. As long as he WINS! Will we see Americans hungry and homeless? WIN! Will he do away with foodstamps and welfare? Maybe. WIN! Will we be Israel’s bitch? Hope so. WIN!
Did you see Ryan’s budget. All the republicans voted for it and Romney said he would sign it. Take a look. It is so destructive to EVERYONE but the 1%, that when it was explained to hundreds of Americans and they were asked if they liked it, they did not believe it was real, everyday Americans thought that NO POLITICAL PARTY would pass something so unbelievable. It is so dangerous and outrageous that no one believed that it was an actual economic plan. BUT IT IS. All the republicans voted for it. And Romney will sign it.

  21. colleen c mcgill says:

Poor redState girl went away to one of her three jobs…which she will be dogshit happy to have, if Romnesia steals this election…
